Surface greenness reflects the situation of vegetation *** index calculated from the Red and Near Infrared bands of remote sensing images,whose values indicate the level of photosynthetic activity,is monotonically related to surface greenness when vegetation canopy does not fully cover the background *** for desert regions,vegetation index is positively correlated with vegetation ***,vegetation index can be used to study the change in greenness of desert *** study collected MODIS Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) data from 2000 to 2010 and analyzed their change over china in this *** results showed that an increasing trend of NDVI occurred over 66.84% (OLS fitting) or 64.27% (LAD fitting) of china,indicating that china's greenness is increasing ***,desertification of china *** showing large increase in greenness are found in Shaanxi,Shanxi,Ningxia,Henan,Shandong,Qinghai,and Gansu while regions with large decrease in greenness are found in Northeast Inner Mongolia,South Tibet,Jiangsu,and *** of Qinghai,Gansu,Xinjiang and South Tibet could probably be driven by climate *** of greenness in Northeast Inner Mongolia was related to agricultural *** of greenness in Jiangsu and Shanghai was related to rapid *** factors did not exhibit obvious correspondence to the large increase in greenness in Shaanxi,Shanxi,Ningxia and Gansu,indicating that the changes might have been caused by human *** reduction of desert areas in china could probably have been caused by human management and protection at the national scale.

[Objective] A high performance liquid chromatographic (HPLC) method was developed for the determination of ergosterol in house dust. [Methods] The house dust was filtrated with a 200-mesh-filter. Samples were extracted by ultrasonic blending, filtration, refluxing, saponification and evaporation. Chromatography was carried out on Inertsil ODS column with acetonitrile as mobile phase pumped at flow rate of 1.0 mL/min. [Results] The limit of detection was 1.26 ×10-6mol/L. A linearity was observed in the range of 5.04 ×10-5 to 2.02 ×10-3.mol/L, with correlation coefficient as 0.9992. The intra- and inter-day relative standard deviation (RSD) were in the range of 10.2-11.7% and 4.54-7.3.%, respectively. The absolute recoveries ranged between 77.1 and 80.1%. [Conclusion] The method was simple, sensitive, accurate and feasible. It can be used to quantify environmental ergosterol. Followed by gas chromatography (GC)-mass spectrometry (MS), the results were double- checked.

Strategic environmental assessment (SEA) in china has developed rapidly since it was introduced into china in the 1990s. Chinese government promulgated the environmental Impact Assessment Law of china (hereinafter referred to as the EIA Law) in 2002. In this law, it is stipulated clearly that regional and sector plans should be assessed. Through investigating materials and analyzing literatures, this article analyses the practical and academic study achievements of SEA in china that have been achieved since the EIA Law was implemented, probes into the current situation of the main level of SEA in china-plan EIA, then summarizes the development characteristics, and eventually, puts forward the development trends of SEA in china. The research conclusions can offer the foundations for comprehending systematically the progress of SEA in china.

china's coal dominated energy pattern has resulted in large amount of SO 2 emissions. Estimate of the sulfur related health damage cost is necessary to help perform systematic cost benefit analysis and set national energy and emissions control priorities. Current researches were confined to gaseous SO 2 in urban areas; however, secondary sulfate (SO 2- 4) particles can exert serious impact in a wider region. Based on the concept of “intake fraction', CALPUFF long range dispersion model and 180 sample emission sources, multiple regression equation was obtained with good correlation( r =0 85), which illustrates that populations were key parameters to determine intake fraction but source characteristics were insignificant. Based on the formula and the population distribution data, county level intake fractions were mapped for Hunan Province(range: 1 1×10 -6 -3. 2×10 -6 ) of china. A combination of county level SO 2 emissions with the intake fractions yields a total 1 98 tons of sulfate(SO 2- 4) inhalation, and resulting total health damage cost to be 0 76(willingness to pay approach, WTP) or 0 16(human capital approach, HC) billion USD in 1997, about 2.1% or 0 45% of GDP in Hunan in 1997. Average health damage cost per ton of SO 2 emission is 93.(WTP) or 200 USD(HC). The results demonstrated that more stringent regulation should be forced.

Rice (\%Oryza sativa\% cv. Jindao 1187) was grown in open_top chambers which contained ambient and enriched CO\-2. CO\-2 elevation stimulated rice tillering during early vegetative stage. However, panicle dry weight per plant did not change at maturity stage. Root biomass was enhanced by high CO\-2. Root / shoot ratio was increased under high CO\-2 at maturity, indicating more carbon allocation to the below_bround part in rice under high CO\-2.

In this paper,a new upconversion luminescent material co-doped with Erbium and Ytterbium is reported. The upconversion luminescence transition routes and related properties are studied. The results show that the absorption and emission intensities under excitation of 980 nm laser increase with the increase of the Yb3. concentration. The red emission is stronger than the green emission. The energy transfer process plays an important role in the upconversion mechanism.
