I am very saddened by the news of Professor Wang Ren’s sudden death. Professor Wang hasbeen a shining example and a hero of mine as a teacher, a scientist, and a great patriot. Myadmiration of him was derived from my experiences as a student and as a scientst in later yearswho had the privilege to interact with him.

Plants are sessile organisms that have acquired highly plastic developmental strategies to adapt to the *** these processes,the floral transition is essential to ensure reproductive success and is finelyregulated by several internal andexternal genetic *** photoperiodic pathway,which controls plant response to day length,is one of the most important pathways controlling *** Arabidopsis photoperiodic flowering,CONSTANS(CO)is the central gene activating the expression of the florigen FLOWERING LOCUS T(FT)in the leaves at the end of a long *** circadian clock strongly regulates Co ***,to date,no evidence has been reported regarding a feedbackloop from the photoperiod pathway back to the circadian *** transcriptional networks,we have identified relevant network motifs regulating the interplay between the circadian clock and the photoperiod *** expression,chromatin immunoprecipitation experiments,and phenotypic analysis allowed us to elucidate the role of Co over the circadian *** with altered cO expression showed a different internal clock period,measured by daily leaf rhythmic *** showed that co upregulates the expression of key genes related to the circadian clock,such as Cca1,LHY,PRR5,and Gl,at the end of a long day by bindingto specific sites on their ***,a high numberof PRR5-repressed target genes are upregulated by CO,and this could explain the phase transition promoted by *** CO-PRR5 complex interacts with the bZiP transcriptionfactor HY5andhelps to localize the complex in the promoters of clock *** together,our results indicate that there may be a feedback loop in which co communicates back to the circadian clock,providing seasonal information to the circadian system.

We provide some more explicit formulae to facilitate the computation of Ohtsuki’s rational invariants λn of integral homology 3-spheres extracted from Reshetikhin-Turaev SU（2. quantum invari- ants. Several interesting consequences will follow from our computation of λ2./sub>. One of them says that λ2./sub> is always an integer divisible by 3. It seems interesting to compare this result with the fact shown by Murakami that λ1 is 6 times the casson invariant. Other consequences include some general criteria for distinguishing homology 3-spheres obtained from surgery on knots by using the Jones polynomial.

Paleotemperature changes over the past 3000 years in eastern Beijing, China: A reconstraction based on Mg/Sr records in a stalagmite

The Mg/Sr ratio in a stalagmite, which is di-rectly proportional to DMg/ca, the solid-liquid distribution coefficient of Mg, is proposed as a geochemical thermometer to estimate paleotemperature changes. The paleotempera-ture change in eastern Beijing over the past 3000 years has been reconstructed by using this thermometer in the stalag-mite ZFFS-1 from Jingdong cave. The records can be di-vided into two periods: 3000—2.00 aBP, cool and wet, the air temperature averaging 9.8℃; and 2.00 aBP—present, hot and dry, the air temperature being 1℃ higher than the mean value (11.7℃) of the past 3000 years. During 500—2.0 aBP, the air temperature was about 1.2. lower than that of the present, corresponding to the Little Ice Age in Europe. Like d 18O and d 13C, Mg/Sr (or DMg/ca) reflects an obviously warming trend of the past 2.0 years. These results are sup-ported by historic records.

Strong form collocation with radial basis approximation is introduced for the numerical solution of transient *** Neumann stability analysis of this radial basis collocation method is performed to obtain the stability conditions for second order wave equation with central difference temporal *** shape parameter of the radial basis functions not only has strong influence on the spatial stability and accuracy,but also has profound influence on the temporal *** studies are conducted and show reasonable agreement with stability *** of selecting shape parameters as well as spatial discretization for solution stability are also presented.
