Sequence stratigraphic framework and distribution of depositional systems for the Paleogene in Liaodong Bay area

With a comprehensive geological and geophysical data base,the Paleogene in the Liaodong Bay area,which consists of the Kongdian,Shahejie and Donghying Formations from the base to top,was divided into 4 second-order sequences and 8 third-order sequences based on the characteristics of the se-quence boundaries. Each third-order sequence is subdivided into the lowstand,lake transgressive and highstand systems tracts. The Lowstand systems tract (LST) is mainly composed of progradational parasequence sets,while the lake transgressive systems tract (TST) largely consists of the retrograda-tional parasequence sets and the highstand systems tract (HST) is dominated by the progradational parasequence sets. The main types of depositional systems include the shallow lake,semi-deep lake,deep lake,delta,fan delta,braided fluvial delta and nearshore subaqueous fan. The braided fluvial delta and fan delta depositional systems are mainly confined to the sequences of the lower SEs4-Ek,SEs3 and SEs1+2,while the sequences of SEd3,SEd2 and SEd1 are dominated by the delta and nearshore subaqueous fan depositional systems with the latter being developed at the downthrown side of the basin-bounding fault in each sequence. The evolution of the depositional systems is always con-trolled by the paleo-tectonic setting and the ancient landform in the space and geological time. It is concluded that the most favorable reservoirs are distributed in the Liaoxi low uplift and the central Liaozhong sag.

Collagen materials were crosslinked by 1-ethyl-3-(3-dimethyl aminopropyl) carbodiimide (EDC) in the presence of chondroitin sulfate (CS), one of glycosaminoglycans (GAGS). PVA and chitosan were also blended with collagen. The physical and chemical properties of the matrices were characterized by SEM, DSC, and ESCA. L929 cells were implanted on the matrices to show the cytotoxic and the biological characters of the materials. The results indicate that EDC is an effective and non-cytotoxic cross-link reagent, which can replace the common dialdehyde reagent. The attachment of CS can improve the stability of collagen and accelerate cell growth. The addition of PVA can prepare porous matrices with smaller bore size. There are reactions between the chitosan and collagen, and the composite has good biological character. The presence of chitosan can also increase the amount of incorporated CS.

The regional distribution in different depositional facies belts is here regarded as an important criterion for defining and recognizing the various orders of sequences. The third-order sequence is possibly global in nature, which may be discerned in different depositional facies belts in one continental margin and can be correlated over long distances, sometimes even worldwide. Commonly, correlation of subsequence (fourth-order sequence with time interval of 0.51.5 Ma) is difficult in different facies belts, although some of them may also be worldwide in distribution. A subsequence should be able to discern and correlate within at least one facies belt. The higher-order sequences, including microsequence (fifth-order sequence) and minisequence (sixth-order sequence), are regional or local in distribution. They may reflect the longer and shorter Milankovitch cycles respectively. Sequence and subsequence are usually recognizable in different facies belts, while microsequence and minisequence may be distinguished only in shallow marine deposits, but not in slope and basin facies deposits. A brief discussion is made on the essential conditions for correct identification of sequences, useful methods of study, and problems meriting special attention in outcrop sequence stratigraphy.

The 40Ar-39Ar age method is employed in this work to analyze the auriferous altered rocks from the middle-deep section of the Q875 gold-quartz vein in the Xiao-qinling area, and the results show that the main gold deposition of the Q875 occurred in ca. 128-126 Ma. As a typical gold-bearing quartz vein in this gold-rich area, the age data obtained from the Q875 also constrain on the metallogenic time of the lode gold deposits developed in the same geological settings. This geochronological study supplies new evidence for further understanding the timing of gold mineralization, the genesis of gold deposits and the geodynamic settings in Xiaoqinling area.

VOLCANIC-SUBVOLCANIC rocks are extensively distributed in china, in which a series of epithermal golddeposits related to volcanism have been discovered. 1 Metallogenic tectonic settings of epithermal gold deposits The epithermal gold deposits are mainly formed under the following tectonic settings: (i) ancient island arc collision, such as Xingxingxia island arc, Armantai island arc, Beishan island arc and Jueluotage island arc, etc. in periphery of Gunggar, Altai, Baishan, etc. in ancient Europe domain; (ii) extension area of continental margin of back arc, such as Fujian, Zhejiang, Jiangsu and Henlongjiang, *** circum-Pacific metallogenic domain; (iii) Mesozoic-Cenozoic island arc, such as the Tethys-Himalayametallogenic domain and Taiwan; (iV) intracontinental faulting depression or intraplate deep-seatedfaults, such as northern Hebei, Liaoning, Inner Mongolia at the north margin of the North china platformand periphery of Taicheng-Loujiang fault.

Evaporation plays an important role in water balance on the land surface. In Northern china, the evaporation series of the recent 115 years was reconstructed on the basis of Yhornthwaite evaporation formula. The characteristics of the reconstructed series were analyzed using 10-year running mean filter, power spectrum method, and running t-text of abrupt changes on the paper. The results showed that there were remarkable interannual fluctuations with timescales of about quasi-8-year, 3-4-year, and quasi-2-year, and interdecadal oscillations with timescales of 57.5-year, quasi-23-year, and l l.5-year. Meanwhile, the abrupt changes of the evaporation series were also of interdecadal timescale. Either interannual fluctuations or interdecadal oscillations of evaporation were closely related to variations in air temperatures and precipitation.

Deformation during the uplift of Pamir Since the Himalayan movement, the Punjab block of Indian plate has intruded into the interior of Eurasian plate, produced a protrusive Pamir knot in eastern Tethys. The Pamir knot is where crustal shortening is most intensive in Tethys. After India\|Eurasia collision, giant relief resulted from fast uplifting of Karakorum due to the convergence and underplating in northern and southern margins of Karakorum, the uplifting rates changed with times, and thrusting would be one of the most important factors controlling the uplifting. At the same time, large scale strike\|slip faulting could produced large vertical offsets, so that the exhumation of the rocks from middle and lower crust has drawn much attention. The post\|collisional deformation and evolution of Karakorum would involve the processes of continental escape, crustal shortening and thickening, and orogenic collapse in extensional regime. The thrusting started in late Jurassic and early Cretaceous, but two peaks occurred in late Cretaceous and Eocene, respectively. A large amount of klippen produced by thrusting from north to south have been discovered in the northern slope of the Kungai in front of Pamir. Molnar and Tapponnier noted that the mount of crustal shortening in Pamir would be up to 2000km in the past 40～45Ma, and Coward proposed that 300～400km shortening has happened only in southern Pamir to northern Pakistan. In western Pamir from Kabul of Afghanistan to Quatta of Pakistan, the Chaman left\|lateral strike\|slip fault system extends 1000km long. Multiple structural superposition in eastern Pamir, due to the effects of the uplifting of Qinghai\|Tibet plateau, resulted in complex deformation patterns.

This paper proposes a stochastic prediction DEA model with undesirable outputs and simplifies the process using chance-constrained techniques in order to obtain an equivalent linear programming formulation. The existence and stability of the optimal solutions have been proved. And the model is used to describe and predict the efficiency of anti-HIV therapy in AIDS patients.
