In this paper a new reactive mechanism based on perception-action bionics for multi-sensory integration applied to Un- manned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) navigation is *** strategy is inspired by the olfactory bulb neural activity observed in rabbits subject to external *** new UAV navigation technique exploits the use of a multiscroll chaotic system which is able to be controlled in real-time towards less complex orbits,like periodic orbits or equilibrium points,considered as perceptive *** are subject to real-time modifications on the basis of environment changes acquired through a Synthetic Aperture radar (SAr) sensory *** mathematical details of the approach are given including simulation results in a virtual en- *** results demonstrate the capability of autonomous navigation for UAV based on chaotic bionics theory in com- plex spatial environments.

Leaf cuticle analysis has long been a powerful tool for fossil plant identification, systematics, and palaeoclimatological recon- struction. In recent decades the application of stomatal frequency data that are relied on precise calculation of stomata on plant fossil cuticles to reconstruct ancient atmospheric CO2 concentration made the preparation of cuticular membrane with sufficient size a critical technique in palaeoclimatological research. However, for plants with originally thin and fragile cuticles, e.g., most deciduous plants, conventional techniques sometimes fail to obtain cuticular membranes with sufficient size, or sometimes unable to recover any. This has largely hampered the usage of fossil cuticle analysis in palaeobotanical and palaeo- climatological research. Here, we describe a new method using clear nail polish as a medium to ＂strengthen＂ the originally thin and fragile cuticles prior to maceration procedures. We demonstrate the method by using middle Eocene Metasequoia fossils that were notorious for the difficulty of recovering large-sized clean cuticular membranes due to their thin and fragile nature. Metasequoia, with well-documented and widely-distributed fossil records since the Late Cretaceous and with a living repre- sentative, 114. glyptostroboides, as a comparative reference, bas been widely used as a model genus for the study of evolution of plants, palaeoclimatological reconstruction, and plant adaptation to climate changes. But its deciduous habit produces thin cuticles and makes the preparation of clean cuticular membranes a tedious process. The new method successfully allows us to recover its delicate cuticular membranes with sufficient sizes for SEM observation and stomatal frequency analysis.

Consider the determination of Dirichlet-to-Neumann(D-to-N) map from the far-field pattern in inverse scattering problems,which is the key step in some recently developed inversion schemes such as probe ***,this problem is related to the reconstruction of the scattered wave from its far-field *** firstly prove the well-known uniqueness result of the D-to-N map from the far-field pattern using a new scheme based on the mixed reciprocity *** advantage of this new proof scheme is that it provides an efficient algorithm for computing the D-to-N map,avoiding the numerical differentiation for the scattered *** combining with the classical potential theory,a simple and feasible regularizing reconstruction scheme for the D-to-N map is *** the stability estimate for the reconstruction with noisy input data is rigorously analyzed.

Based on NCEp/NCAr monthly mean reanalysis data and surface observations of Chinese stations, inter-hemispheric oscillations (IHO) of spring atmospheric mass on an interannual basis in conjunction with the linkage to the synchronous climate over china are studied. results suggest that the spring IHO exhibits a significant seesaw pattern for air mass at bi-hemispheric mid-high latitudes, with a consistent vertical circulation structure. The EOF decomposition of zonally mean surface pressures without signals of Arctic Oscillation (AO) and Antarctic Oscillation (AAO) indicates that the EOF1 IHO feature is remarkable, with the corresponding time coeficients correlated with the spring IHO index (IIHO) at 0.93; the spring IHO bears a close relation to the synchronous climate in china, showing the surface pressure, temperature and relative humidity over the country to be in good correlation with IIHO; the spring duststorms in Qinghai, Gansu, Shaanxi and Inner Mongolia have bearing on IHO. positive-phase IIHO promotes the strengthening of the Siberian high, during which zonal winds between 60°E and 150°W show a longitudinal teleconnection structure extending from the Arctic to Antarctica, leading to positive westerly wind anomalies over Asia, affecting the spring climate of china.
