Construction of AFLP-based genetic linkage maps for the Chinese shrimp Fenneropaeneus chinensis

Fenneropaeneus chinensis is an important species in marine fishery resources and aquaculture in China. A genetic linkage map is essential for improving the efficiency of its breeding by marker-as- sisted selection and identifying commercially important genes. Linkage maps of F. chinensis were constructed with an F2.mapping population (110 progenies) using amplified fragment length polymor- phic (AFLP) marker in this study. Fifty-five AFLP primer combinations produced 532.AFLP markers fitting for map strategy in mapping family. The markers with 3:1 segregating ratios were analyzed using F2.intercross model for the common linkage map, while the markers with 1:1 ratio were analyzed using the pseudo-testcross strategy. The maps of male, female and common were constructed. The female map included 103 markers that formed 2. linkage groups, covering a total length of 1090 cM. All mark- ers were linked with the linkage groups. Segregation distortion was observed for 6 of 103 markers in the female map. The average distance between markers was 14.53 cM and ranged from 4.4 to 2..8 cM. The male map included 144 markers that formed 35 linkage groups. Ten markers remained unlinked in male map. Segregation distortion was observed for 7 of 144 markers in the male map. The total dis- tance of male map covered 1617 cM. The average distance between markers was 16.36 cM. The male map was 32.6% longer than the female map, which may reflect sex-specific recombination rates in Chinese shrimp. The common map was composed of 2.6 markers, including in 44 linkage groups covering a total distance of 1772.1 cM. Two markers remained unlinked. No distorted markers of 2.6 markers were shown in the common map. The distance between markers was 10.42.cM. An average estimated genome size for the Chinese shrimp was 2.2. cM, which was consistent with the relative size of the Penaeid genome. Based on the differential properties of the smoothing metric projector onto the second-order cone,we prove that,for a locally optimal solution to a nonlinear second-order cone programming problem,the nonsingularity of the Clarke's generalized Jacobian of the smoothing Karush-Kuhn-Tucker system,constructed by the smoothing metric projector,is equivalent to the strong second-order sufficient condition and constraint nondegeneracy,which is in turn equivalent to the strong regularity of the Karush-Kuhn-Tucker ***,this nonsingularity property guarantees the quadratic convergence of the corresponding smoothing Newton method for solving a Karush-Kuhn-Tucker ***,the analysis does not need the strict complementarity condition.

The Er3+-Yb3+ codoped Al2.3 nanoparticles with an average particle size of about 50 nm have been synthesized by an arc discharge synthesis method. The green and red up-conversion emissions centered at about 52., 547 and 677 nm, corresponding respectively to the 2.11/2.4I15/2. 4S3/2.4I15/2.and 4 F9/2.4I15/2.transitions of Er3+, were detected by a 978-nm semiconductor laser diode excitation. The Annealing has evident effect on the up-conversion emissions of the samples: The red up-conversion emission is noticeable before annealing; however, the green up-conversion emission becomes predominant after annealing. The mixture of (Er,Yb)3Al5O12.and α-(Al,Er,Yb)2.3 phases is more favorable for green up-conversion emissions due to an enhancement of the ESA (I) of 4I11/2.a photon→4F7/2.and ET (III) of 2.5/2.Yb3+)+4I11/2.Er3+)→2.7/2.Yb3+)+4F7/2.Er3+) processes. The two-photon absorption up-conversion process is involved in the green and red up-conversion emissions. The results have proved that arc discharge synthesis is a new promising preparation technology for optical materials.

Electrochemical techniques and fractal theory were employed to study the corrosion behaviors and pits distribution characteristics on the corroded surfaces of 304 stainless steel exposed in FeCl3 solution. Fractal features of pits distribution over the corroded surfaces were observed and described by the fractal dimension. A 5-8-2.back-propagation （BP） artificial neural network model for the diagnoses of the pitting corrosion rate and pits deepness of 304 stainless steel under various conditions was developed by considering the fractal dimension as a key parameter for describing the pitting corrosion characteristics. The predicted results are well in agreement with the experimental data of pitting corrosion rate and pit deepness. The max relative errors between their experimental and simulation data are 6.69% and 4.62., respectively.

The thermomechanical treatment process is effective in enhancing the properties of the lead frame copper alloy. In this study, an optimal pattern of the thermomechanical processes for Cu-Cr-Zr was investegated using an intelligent control technique consisting of neural networks and genetic algorithms. The input parameters of the artificial neural network (ANN) are the reduction ratio of cold rolling, aging temperature and aging time. The outputs of the ANN model are the two most important properties of hardness and conductivity. Based on the successfully trained ANN model, genetic algorithms (GA) are used to optimize the input parameters of the model and select perfect combinations of thermomechanical processing parameters and properties. The good generalization performance and optimized results of the integrated model are achieved.

An approach to inspecting massive numbers of moving seeds was studied based on the techniques of dynamic inspection and machine vision. A progressive scanning CCD camera with external trigger function was used for real-time capture of dynamic images of seeds. The methods based on R channel of RGB (Red, Green and Blue) and region-dependent segmentation were adopted to reduce the data size of image processing and improve the efficiency of seeds inspection. All the seeds were sorted into four grades according to their morphological characteristics, such as surface area, perimeter, major axis, minor axis, circularity and eccentricity. The detection experiments indicated that the eligible ratio of the classifications was about 81.90% by this real-time inspection system.

Hydroxyapatite （HA） coatings on pyrolytic carbon were produced via electrophoretic deposition （EPD） using glycol and ethanol as dispersion medium respectively. The effect of the solubility of HA in the dispersion medium on crack occurrence and adherence of the coating was investigated by means of scanning electronic microscope （SEM） and atomic absorption spectrometer （AAS）. The results show that the solubility of HA in glycol is higher than that in ethanol. The usage of glycol as a dispersion medium can reduce the possibility of crack formation and enhance the adhesive strength between the coating and the carbon substrate. The green coatings can be sintered under vacuum at 1 000 ℃ whether the coatings are obtained using ethanol or glycol as dispersion medium. No HA decomposition was observed up to 1 000 ℃ by vacuum sintering by X-ray diffraction （XRD） analysis.

The archaeological site of Sampula cemetery was located about 14 km to the southwest of the Luo County in Xinjiang Khotan,China,belonging to the ancient Yutian kingdom.14C analysis showed that this cemetery was used from 2.7 *** 2.3 A.D. Ancient DNA was analyzed by 364 bp of the mitochondrial DNA hypervariable region I （mtDNA HVR-I）,and by six restriction fragment length polymorphism （RFLP） sites of mtDNA coding *** successfully extracted and sequenced intact stretches of maternally inher- ited mtDNA from 13 out of 16 ancient Sampula *** analysis of mtDNA haplogroup distribution showed that the ancient Sampula was a complex population with both European and Asian *** joining network of U3 sub-haplogroup and multi-dimen- sional scaling analysis all showed that the ancient Sampula had maternal relationship with Ossetian and Iranian.
