＜正＞Visual world is rich in objects delineated from the background by simply luminance variation,so called first-order cue,as well as those defined by contrast and texture,named second-order *** studies have shown that many neurons in early visual cortex respond to second-order stimuli（*** envelope and illusory contour）,when the spatial frequency of the stimulus carrier is beyond the pass-band of the *** there are still controversies on the processing of second-order cue in the *** the present study,PMLS（posteromedial lateral suprasylvian cortex） neurons of the cat are tested with moving composite stimuli,formed by modulating the contrast of a first-order grating （carrier）.The spatial frequencies of both the carrier and the moving contrast envelope are set to be the optimum of the cell, as a situation more close to the normal ecological *** a composite stimulus can be decomposed into three Fourier component gratings.A control stimulus is constructed by summing the same three component gratings,but the spatial phase of one component is shifted by 180 so that the contrast envelope is no longer *** comparing the responses to the composite stimuli and that to the control stimuli,we find that about 40%of the PMLS cells show significant responses to the second-order cue,in which the direction preference is similar to that for the first-order cue. This cue invariance has been observed in early visual cortex such as area 18 or ***,as compared with the neurons in area 18,the PMLS cells exhibit relatively stronger responses,shorter latency and higher direction selectivity to the second-order cue,indicating that the neural representation of second-order cue might be enhanced along the visual pathway toward the extrastriate *** results suggest that PMLS may play an important role in the processing of visual motion information defined by second-order cue.

＜正＞Objective In a subtype of retinal ganglion cells（RGCs）,different direction of image motion generates selective light *** the mechanisms are not fully understood,it is believed that starburst amacrine cell（SAC）,which is currently known as the only type of cholinergic neurons in the retina,is critically *** creating different degrees of SAC ablations,we further explore the interaction between SACs and DSGCs,both morphological and functional *** The ablation is performed by subcutaneous injection of L-Glutamate（monosodium salt）.The morphological and functional change of DSGCs is examined by DiI staining,fluorescent immunohistochemistry and patch clamp ***（1） The morphological features of DSGCs remain normal after SAC ablation.（2. The morphological DSGCs exhibited ON-OFF responses to light stimuli,but no longer display any direction selective responses to motion *** Current evidence suggests maturation of DSGC dendritic morphology is independent on interaction with SACs.

Objectives To evaluate peripheral auditory dysfunction in senile dementia of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and its relationship with cognitive dysfunction. Methods Pure tone thresholds,word recognition scores (WRS), acoustic immittance and auditory brain-stem responses (ABR) were tested to evaluate the auditory function in 43 AD patients and 50 normal subjects. The test reliability in these subjects was examined before the test results were evaluated for their correlation with the Mini Mental {2. Examination(MMSE) score. Results There were no statistically significant differences in peripheral auditory functions between the two ears in the tested subjects or between the two groups when the auditometric results of the right ear were compared(P > 0.05). Also, there were no statistically significant differences between the two groups when audiometric test reliability, acoustic impedance and ABR results were compared(P > 0.05). Conclutions The pure tone audiometric threshold and WRS in AD patients are similar to those in comparable non-AD senile subjects. Peripheral auditory dysfunction is not related to cognitive dysfunction.

＜正＞Objective The Royal College of Surgeons（RCS） rats undergo a sustained degeneration of photoreceptors from the retinal pigment epithelial cell *** one kind of intemeurons,horizontal cells connect to cone and rod photoreceptors directly in the outer plexiform layer,which may be influenced by the loss of *** order to examine the remodeling of the surviving secondary neurons,here we investigated the lamination and morphology of horizontal cells （HCs） during photoreceptor degeneration in the RCS *** RCS rats were sampled at different degeneration stages and compared with age-matched control *** immunostaining of the cryosections and DiI labeling of the wholemount retinas were carried out to examine soma,dendritic and axonal *** were acquired by confocol microscopy and analyzed with *** The staining of photoreceptors shows that at P35,the beginning of the photoreceptor degeneration,the loss of photoreceptors is not significant and the morphology of the HCs is not changed. 目的:探讨运动对老年人默认网络和执行控制网络的影响,以及默认网络和执行控制网络在运动改善老年人认知功能中的作用。方法:选取北京老年脑健康促进计划(beijing Aging Brain Rejuvenation Initiative,BABRI)数据库中34名老年人为研究对象,根据其运动频率分为运动组和对照组,其中运动组每周运动次数≥1次、每次运动时长>30 min、规律运动时间达1年以上,而对照组无运动习惯。采用简易精神状态量表(mini-mental state examination,MMSE)、画钟测验(clock drawing test,CDT)、符号数字模式测验(symbol digit modalities test,SDMT)、连线测验(trail making test,TMT)、词语流畅性测验(verbal fluency test,VFT)和波士顿命名测验(Boston naming test,BNT)分别评估老年人的总体认知能力、视空间能力、注意力、执行功能以及语言功能。采用功能性磁共振成像技术获取老年被试静息状态大脑活动,并通过独立成分分析获得默认网络和执行控制网络。最后对网络功能连接差异脑区与认知表现进行相关性分析。结果:1)运动组在MMSE、SDMT、TMT、VFT和BNT测验中的认知功能显著高于对照组,但两组CDT得分没有显著差异;2.运动组默认网络中背外侧额上回、左侧额上回中部、右侧前扣带回和额上回的功能连接与对照组相比显著增强;3)运动组执行控制网络中左侧下顶叶、左侧颞下回、额下回、左侧额上回内侧的功能连接与对照组相比显著增强;4)执行控制网络中左侧下顶叶与MMSE得分、SDMT得分呈显著正相关,与TMT-A、TMT-B连线时间呈显著负相关。结论:规律运动可以提高老年人的总体认知功能、注意力、执行功能和语言能力,运动对认知功能的改善可能与运动增强默认网络和执行控制网络中额叶、前扣带回和下顶叶的功能连接有关,下顶叶可能在其中发挥关键作用。
