A systematic elaboration is given on atomic and molecular theory problems encountered in dealing with space science and engineering. Three sections are presented in the paper on calculations for gas thermodynamic and transfer properties, characteristics of the optical radiation from the reentry' bodies, and the interaction between surfaces of man-made satellites and incident particles. Researches on them are much related to the fundamental problems regarding the atomic and molecular theory.

LiO-AlO-SiO(LAS) powders were synthesized through various sol-gel processes using acrylamide,citrate-acrylamide,citrate-nitrate and nitrate gel *** mechanism of formation of LAS in all these four gel routes was established by characterizing the gels and intermediate phases using TG-DTA,FT-IR and XRD *** indicate that the citrate-acrylamide route is easy to control and can obtain homogeneous LAS powders.

Amphioxus appears to lack free circulating blood cells. How it clears invading pathogens from its body remains unknown to date. We demonstrate here that amphioxus Branchiostoma belcheri is capable of efficiently eliminating the invading bacterium Escherichia coli from its humoral fluid,and the complement and lysozyme are both involved in the elimination of the invading pathogen. Both the com-plement and lysozyme act in concert against the invading bacterium,but the complement appears to play a more dominant role than the lysozyme.

Study on the SiN_x/Al rear reflectance performance of crystalline silicon solar cells

The performance of internal rear surface reflectance of crystalline silicon solar cells is becoming more and more important with the decrease of thickness of the silicon wafers. In this paper PC1D was used to simulate the correlations between the rear surface reflectance and the electrical as well as optical properties of the solar cells. The results showed that the short circuit current, open circuit voltage and quantum efficiency were all enhanced with the increase of the rear reflectance. When the rear reflectance increased from 60% to 100%, the short circuit current, open circuit voltage and maximum output power were improved by about 0.12. A, 0.007 V, and 0.066 W, respectively. The internal quantum efficiency was improved by 39.9%, the external quantum increased by 17.4%, and the efficiency of the solar cells was enhanced by 0.4% at 1100 nm wavelength. The screen-printing was selected to prepare SiNx/Al reflector, and experimental results showed that the SiNx/Al reflector has desired characteristic of internal rear reflectance, with the reflectivity of 15% higher than that of conventional aluminum BSF at 1100 nm wavelength.

The wetting behavior of molten Zr55Cu30Al10Ni5 on Al2.3 and ZrO2.was studied using the sessile drop method. The results show that the nonwetting-to-wetting transition for the Zr55Cu30Al10Nis/ZrO2.wetting system takes place at 1193 K. The wetting of molten Zr55Cu30Al10Ni5 on Al2.3 is a non-reactive wetting. Owing to the formation of diffusion band at the front of the wetting tip in the Zr55Cu30Al10Ni5/Al2.3 system, the wettability of Al2.3 is better than that of ZrO2.

In this paper, we use center manifold theory to give a new result aboutthe stabilization of nonlinear systems. First an illustrative example is given to show ourmotivation. Then the main result by means of center manifold and homogeneous stabilityis proposed, and its application to a generalized form without the usual relative degreebecause of singularity is given.

In a series of laboratory incubations using soils of two contrasting sites from a temperate marsh on the QinghaiTibet Plateau,potential methane (CH4) oxidation rates were measured to study the effects of inorganic N inputs on CH4 oxidation. For a drained site,subsurface peat (5-15 cm) at an initial 2. μL CH4 L-1 showed a significantly different (P＜0.05) CH4 oxidation rate compared to other soil depths,with a maximal rate of 2..9 ng CH4 gDW (dry weight)-1h-1; the underlying mineral soil layers (15-30 and 30-50 cm) also had a strong CH4 oxidation capacity at about an initial 2.00 μL CH4 L-1. With a waterlogged site,the CH4 oxidation rate in an aerobic incubation was significantly greater (P＜0.05) in the surface soil layer (0-5cm) compared to the 15-30 and 30-50 cm depths. There was generally no or a very weak effect from addition of NO3- on CH4 oxidation. In marked contrast,NH4+ salts,such as (NH4)2.O4,NH4C1 and NH4NO3,exhibited strong inhibitions,which varied as a function of the added salts and the initial CH4 level. Increasing NH4+ usually resulted in greater inhibition and increasing initial CH4 concentrations resulted in less. NH4+ inhibition on CH4 oxidation in natural high-altitude,low-latitude wetlands could be as important as has been reported for agricultural and forest soils. The NH4+ effects on the CH4 oxidation rate need to be further investigated in a wide range of natural wetland soil types.
