Timing and history of marine hydrocarbon accumulation in Tarim craton

Based on the analyses of hydrocarbon inclu-sions, K-Ar dating of authigenic illites and oil/gas-watercontact retrospection as well as other methods, the marineprimary reservoirs in the cratonic region of the Tarim Basinare found to have been formed in the late Caledonian toearly Hercynian, late Hercynian, and Himalayan, and oil andgas adjusted and redistributed in the Yanshanian (Jurassic toCretaceous) and Himalayan (Tertiary). The analyses alsoshow that the remaining primary oil accumulations aremostly formed in the late Hercynian, and the secondary oilreservoirs resulted from the adjustment and redistribution ofthe earlier accumulations during the Yanshanian and Hima-layan (especially late Himalayan), of which the Himalayan isalso the major stage of gas accumulation. The primary oilreservoirs formed in the late Hercynian mostly occur withinthe Paleozoic formation, whereas the secondary reservoirsformed in the Himalayan in the Mesozoic. The late adjust-ment and redistribution of reservoirs in the craton region ofthe Tarim Basin is ubiquitous because of the intensified tec-tonic movements since the Mesozoic, especially Cenozoic andintrusion of the high- to over-mature gas. Furthermore, thelower amplitude of reservoirs in the craton region also makesthem easier to be adjusted and redistributed. Therefore, theremaining paleo-uplift and palaeo-slope developed in rela-tively stable tectonic regions are the main potential areas forthe middle-large marine reservoirs in the Tarim Basin.

Influence of the impounding process of the Three Gorges Reservoir up to water level 172.5m on water eutrophication in the Xiangxi Bay

The water level of the Three Gorges Reservoir(TGR) rose to 172.5 m in two stages from September to November,*** hydrodynamic parameters and water quality parameters(*** velocity,temperature,turbidity and nutrient content) had been continuously monitored to reveal the influence of the impounding process of the TGR on the water eutrophication in the Xiangxi Bay(XXB).The maximal daily rise of the water level of the TGR was about 2.3. *** water exchange between the mainstream(the Changjiang River) and the XXB of the TGR was enhanced by density current,and its main characteristics were a density-stratified flow in different *** water exchange reduced the differences of the water quality parameters(for example,temperature,turbidity,nutrient level,pH,etc.) between the mainstream and the XXB during the impounding ***,the water stability index in the mainstream remained small but it was lowered in the *** main causes included the dilution by water of lower concentration of the chlorophyll a(Chl.a) entering from the mainstream,the decline of the water stability,and the increase of suspended silt,which induced the Chl.a to decrease in the XXB during the impounding *** grade of the water eutrophication changed from middle eutrophic level to mesotrophic state in the ***,as available nutrients were imported into the XXB from the mainstream during the impounding process the risk of water eutrophication increases in the XXB in the future.

Petrogenesis and significance of early Yanshanian syenite-granite complex in eastern Nanling Range

In the eastern Nanling Range there exists the early Yanshanian syenite-granite assemblage. A representative example is the Pitou-Tabei complex composed of the Tabei syenite pluton and the Pitou syenogranite pluton in southern Jiangxi Province. U-Pb zircon dating yields ages of 188.6±2.2.Ma for the Tabei pluton and 186.3.1.1 Ma for the Pitou pluton. The Tabei syenite is characterized by relatively low SiO2.content (62.40% - 68.75%), high alkalis (K2.+Na2. = 10.56%-11.96%), low percent K2./Na2. ratios (0.56-0.93., metaluminous fea- ture (A/CNK = 0.80-1.00), enrichment in LILE (Rb, Ba, K) and HFSE (Th, U, Nb, Ta, Zr, and so on), weakly negative to positive Eu anomalies (δ Eu = 0.63.1.82., relatively low (87Sr/86Sr)i (0.70412.0.70543., and relatively high ε Nd(t) (3.14-3.52.. The Pitou syenogranite is charac- terized by high silicon content (SiO2.= 71.06%-76.2.%), relatively low alkalis (K2.+Na2. = 8.10%-9.80%), high percent K2./Na2. ratios (1.2.-1.94), metaluminous feature (A/CNK = 0.94-1.07), enrichment in Rb, Th (U), K, depletion in Ba, Nb, Ta, Sr, P , Zr, Ti, high ΣREE (av- eraging 451.03.μg/g), strong negative Eu anomalies (δ Eu = 0.2.-0.3.), relatively high (87Sr/86Sr)i (0.70805-0.70912., and relatively low ε Nd( t ) (?5.3.-?6.2.). The Tabei syenite and Pitou syenogranite both have the characteristics of A-type granites. The former is considered to be from the asthenosphere mantle, and the latter was the product of the crust-mantle mixture. They both were probably formed in a rifting setting.

Critical slope gradient for compulsory abandonment of farmland on the hilly Loess Plateau

Scientific evidence for the upper limit of farmland is proposed. Shallow gully erosion is one of erosion types distributed extensively on sloping farmland in the hilly regions of the Loess Plateau. Field observation and aerial photos interpretation, as well as laboratory experiments show that the shallow gully erosion occurring on the steeper farmland in the hilly regions of the Loess Plateau is an important factor leading to intensive erosion on slope, because of its extensive distribution and intensive runoff collection. The data on the formation, development and distribution of shallow gullies on sloping farmland indicate that critical slope gradient for shallow gully initiation ranges from 15 to 2. degrees with an average of 18.2.degrees. Therefore, it is suggested that critical slope gradient for compulsory abandonment of farmland on the hilly Loess Plateau should be kept within the critical slope gradient for shallow gully initiation to prevent shallow gully formation in order to control soil loss more effectively. But as the first step, the cultivation on the slopes with slope larger than 2. degrees where the maximum erosion occurs should be strictly forbidden.

Ore-forming fluid and mineralization of Caijiaying and Dajing polymetallic ore deposits

Fluid inclusions from the Dajing and Caijiaying deposits have nearly the same homogenization temperature. Correlation between temperature and salinity shows that both Sn- and Cu-bearing fluids Sn and Cu were present in the Dajing deposit but only one kind of fluids continuously evolved in the Caijiaying deposit. Study on rare earth elements (REE) in ancient fluid from the inclusions indicates that the fluid of Sn mineralizing stage in Dajing was derived from remelting magma of the continental crust, and the fluid of Cu-Pb-Zn mineralizing stage in the Dajing deposit and the fluid of Cu-Pb-Zn mineralization in the Caijiaying deposit were derived from the mantle. It is concluded that the Cu-Pb-Zn mineralizations in the Dajing and Caijiaying deposits resulted from the identical tectono-thermal event of magma-fluids induced by Mesozoic tectonic transition and extension in the eastern part of North china Craton.

Direct CP violation in hadronic B decays

There are different approaches for the hadronic B decay calculations, recently. In this paper, we upgrade three of them, namely factorization, QCD factorization and the perturbative QCD approach based on kT factorization, using new parameters and full wave functions. Although they get similar results for many of the branching ratios, the direct CP asymmetries predicted by them are different, which can be tested by recent experimental measurements of B factories.

The feature study on the π and proton rapidity distributions at AGS, SPS and RHIC

The features of nuclear stopping power and multi-hadron production systematically are studied by making an analysis of rapidity distributions of pion and proton at AGS, SPS and RHIC in this work. It is found that nuclear stopping power increases linearly with project rapidity yp at AGS and SPS, but that is not liner at RHIC. It is argued that the average rapidity loss is saturated at central rapidity region at RHIC. For pion distribution, it is found that the phase space of pion distribution distributes uniformly in the longitudinal direction,and a linear relationship of L with log s is given at AGS and SPS. Non-uniform flow model may explain the features of the distribution at AGS and SPS, but may not ex- plain those of at RHIC.

Although there are many reports of fossil Ephedraceae,whole plant fossil record remains *** to a lack of trust on partially preserved fossil materials,scholars working on molecular clock proposed a recent origin of Ephedra and cast doubt on the earlier origin time of *** better the understanding on this interesting group,here we report whole plants of Ephedra hongtaoi ***.(Ephedraceae,Gnetales) from the Yixian Formation (Early Cretaceous) in western Liaoning,*** whole plants of Ephedra demonstrate clearly the characters of Ephedra,including shrubby growth habit,decussate branching pattern,and terminal ovuliferous unit with micropylar *** whole-plant preservation of the fossils provides more convincing fossil evidence of Early Cretaceous Ephedra,helps to resolve the controversy over the origin time of Ephedra,and sheds light on the whole plant morphology,growth habit,ecology and evolution of Ephedraceae.

TIANSHAN in southern Xinjiang belongs to the Paleozoic island arc system in which volcanic rocks are extensively distributed. A series of epithermal gold deposits such as the Axi, Xitan, Cuiling andShuangfengshan gold deposits have been discovered. 1 Geological settings of epithermal gold deposits in Tianshan, southern Xinjiang Tianshan in southern Xinjiang belongs to the Paleozoic island arc system. To its north is the Kazakhstan plate, and to its north is the Tarim plate. From west to east, the tectonic units are characterizedby Yili island arc, southern Tianshan arc-basin, Jiaoluotage island arc and Xingxingxia island arc. TheEW-trending Tianshan ore belt is controlled by Kanggurtag geosuture. In its west part, it is controlled byShenglidaban geosuture.
