Prognostic factors in the surgical treatment of caudate lobe hepatocellular carcinoma

AIM:To evaluate the short-and long-term outcomes of liver resection for caudate lobe hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).METHODS:We retrospectively analyzed 114 consecutive patients with HCC,originating from the caudate lobe,who underwent resection between January 2.01 and January *** and multivariate analyses were performed on several clinicopathologic variables to determine the factors affecting long-term outcome and intrahepatic ***:Overall mortality and morbidity were 0% and 18%,*** a median follow-up of 31 mo (interquartile range,11-66 mo),tumor recurrence had occurred in 76 patients (66.7%).The 1-,3-,and 5-year disease-free survival rates were 65.7%,38.1%,and 18.4%,*** 1-,3-,and 5-year overall survival rates were 76.1%,54.7%,and 31.8%,*** analysis showed that subsegmental location of the tumor (45.7% vs 16.2.,P=0.01),liver cirrhosis (12.3% vs 47.9%,P=0.03),surgical margin (18.5% vs 54.6%,P=0.04),vascular invasion (37.9% vs 2..2.,P=0.04) and extended caudate resection (42.1% vs 15.4%,P=0.04) were related to poorer long-term *** analysis showed that only subsegmental location of the tumor,liver cirrhosis and surgical margin were significant independent prognostic ***:Hepatectomy was an effective treatment for HCC in the caudate *** subsegmental location of the tumor,liver cirrhosis and surgical margin affected long-term survival.

We conducted a study concerning the suppressive mechanism of KAI1/CD82.on hepatoma cell *** growth factor(HGF)induces the migration of hepatoma cells through activation of cellular sphingosine kinase 1(SphK1).Adenovirus-mediated gene transfer of KAI1(Ad-KAI1)downregulates the SphK1 expression and suppresses the HGF-induced migration of SMMC-772. human hepatocellcular carcinoma *** of KAI1/CD82.significantly elevates Sprouty2.at the protein *** of Sprouty2.with RNA interference can block the KAI1/CD82.induced suppression of hepatoma cell migration and downregulation of SphK1 *** is demonstrated that KAI1/CD82.suppresses HGF-induced migration of hepatoma cells via upregulation of Sprouty2.

Method for tumor recognition with short dynamic PET images:Theory and simulation study

A new method was provided in this paper to recognize tumor in PET images automatically and reduce the waiting time of *** on the unsupervised clustering algorithm(ISODATA),this method diagnoses tumor with short dynamic PET *** theoretical basis of this method is that the metabolic characteristics of different tissues,represented by time-activity curve in the region of interest,are *** computer program was developed and validated using simulated dynamic PET data with small tumor in *** study shows that this method could recognize tumor with the short dynamic PET data in 10 min successfully,and this method was not sensitive to initial cluster center.

目的 :探索葛根素引起急性溶血和肾功能衰竭 (肾衰 )的病理机制。方法 :作血液免疫学体外药物模拟抗球蛋白试验 (AGT)。以病人d 1,d 8及8mo的血样为标本 ,作直接抗球蛋白试验 (DAT)检测病人红细胞 (Pc)上的免疫复合物 ,行间接抗球蛋白试验 (IAT)检测O型供者红细胞 (Dc)与病人血清(Ps)、葛根素、补体孵育后在盐水介质及抗球蛋白血清 (AGS)中有否凝集或溶血。结果 :PcDAT阳性 ;IAT———孵育后的Dc在盐水介质中凝集 ,在IAT洗涤过程中部分溶血 ;在AGS中 ,Dc与抗广谱AGS、抗 C3的凝集强于抗 IgG。单纯药物孵育的Dc不凝集 ,不加葛根素的Ps及加入葛根素的AB型供者体血清红细胞 (Ds)不凝集 ;8mo后重复Pc和Ps试验 ,凝集全部消失。结论 :Ps中含有可活化补体的IgM类抗葛根素抗体 ,此为急性血管内溶血。

Detection of multidrug resistant gene 1 in pancreatic cancer

BACKGROUND: The results are conflicting in detecting P-glycoprotein (P-gp) in pancreatic cancer. The aim of this study was to detect the expression of multidrug resis- tant gene 1 ( MDR1) in pancreatic cancer cell lines. METHODS: MDR1 mRNA and P-gp were detected by re- verse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and immunohistochemical assay (IHC) in three pancreatic cancer cell lines SW1990, CAPAN-1 and P3. P-gp func- tions were evaluated through the rhodamine extrusion test. RESULTS: Two of the three cell lines expressed MDR1 po- sitively at different levels. The rhodamine extrusion test showed that the percentage of positive cells in MDR(+) cells was significantly lower than that in MDR1 (-) cells. The results of IHC, RT-PCR and the rhodamine extrusion test were consistent with each other. CONCLUSION: All of these methods are reliable in the de- tection of MDR1 in pancreatic cancer tissue, thus providing a guide for clinical chemotherapy of pancreatic cancer.

Factors influencing intercellular spaces in the rat esophageal epithelium

AIM:To evaluate the effect of acute stress,hydrochloric acid,ethanol,aspirin,and prednisolone on the intercellular spaces of the esophageal ***:Part -RESULTS:(1) The f ive damaging factors produced no lesions or inflammation in esophageal mucosa of rats under either gross or routine histological *** epithelial intercellular space diameters in stress and aspirin groups were significantly greater,nearly three or two-fold respectively,than those in their corresponding control groups (stress model:0.38 ± 0.05 μm vs 0.13 ± 0.02.μm,P 2.± 0.12.μm vs 0.19 ± 0.05 μm,P 2. ± 0.03 μm vs 0.19 ± 0.05 μm,P > 0.05;ethanol model:0.2. ± 0.10 μm vs 0.19 ± 0.05 μm,P > 0.05;prednisolone model:0.2. ± 0.03 μm vs 0.14 ± 0.03 μm,P > 0.05);and (2. No significant difference in the intercellular space diameters was observed between the group pretreated with esomeprazole and the control group,in both the stress and aspirin models (stress model:0.35 ± 0.05 μm vs 0.37 ± 0.05 μm,P > 0.05;aspirin model:0.2. ± 0.02.μm vs 0.2. ± 0.03 μm,P > 0.05).CONCLUSION:Acute stress and aspirin can induce DIS of the esophageal epithelium in rats,and it is not correlated with acid reflux.

BACKGROUND: Presyrinx state of spinal cord can reflect the initial lesion of syringomyelia (SM). The early trials has proved that ischamia and edema are main pathological changes of presyrinx state. OBJECTIVE: To establish SM model of rabbits for investigating the relationship between changes of morphous and function of blood-spinal cord barrier and the edema degree, histological changes in presyrinx state of SM, and to explore the mechanism of the presyrinx state of SM. DESIGN: Randomized controlled animal experiment. SETTING: department of Neurosurgery, Fourth {2., Heibei Medical university. MATERIALS: Sixty Chinese healthy white rabbits, aged 3.5-4.5 months, weighing 1.5-2.0 kg, were provided by Experimental Animal Center of Hebei Medical university [certification: (SYXK(Ji)2.03-002.)]. Evan's blue (EB) and dimethylformamide (DMF) were purchased from Jingmei Biotech Co., Ltd. RM2.2. paraffin section cutter (Leica Company, Japan), H-7500 transmission electron microscope (Hitachi Company, Japan), PM-2. light microscope photograph system (Olympus Company, Japan). METHODS: The experiment was carried out in the Laboratory of Neurosurgery department, Second {2. of Hebei Medical university from January to June 2.06. ① All the rabbits were randomly divided into two groups: model group (n =40), control group (n =2.). Rabbits in two groups were divided into five subgroups once again at five time points (1st, 3rd, 7th, 14th, 2.st days, n =8 and n =4 at each time point in the model group and control group, respectively). Under ketamine anesthesia, 0.6 mL Kaolin solution (2.0 g/L, 37 ℃) was injected into the cisterna magna of rabbits in model group, while 0.6 mL physiological saline (37 ℃) was injected into the rabbits of control group. ② On the 1st, 3rd, 7th, 14th, 2.st days after kaolin injection, cervical cord samples were harvested after sacrifice of animal. Quantitative analysis on the function of blood-spinal cord barrier was performed by Evan's blue technique
