Advanced information feedback strategy in intelligent two-route traffic flow systems

The optimal information feedback has a significant effect on many socioeconomic systems like stock market and traffic systems aiming to make full use of resources. In this paper, we study dynamics of traffic flow with real-time information. The influence of a feedback strategy named vehicle number feedback strategy (VNFS) is introduced, in which we only calculate the vehicle number of first 500 route sites from the entrance. Moreover, the two-route traffic system has only one entrance and one exit, which is different from those in the previous work. Our model incorporates the effects of adaptability into the cellular automaton models of traffic flow, and simulation results by adopting this optimal information feedback strategy have demonstrated higher efficiency in controlling spatial distribution of traffic patterns than the other three information feedback strategies, i.e., TTFS, MVFS and CCFS.

We briefly reviewed the experimental study on a-delayed proton decays near the proton drip line published by our group during the period of 1996―2004, namely the first observation of the a-delayed proton decays of 9 new nuclides in the rare-earth region and the new measurements of a-delayed proton decays of 5 nuclides in the mass ～90 region near the N = Z line with the aid of the “p-?” coincidence in combination with a He-jet tape transport system. In the meantime some important experimental technique details were supplemented. The experimental results, including the half -lives, spins, parities, deformations and production reaction cross sections for the 14 nuclei were summarized and compared with the current nuclear-model predictions, and then the following points were represented. (1) The experimental half-lives for 85Mo and 92Rh as well as the predicted “waiting point” nuclei 89Ru and 93.d are 5―10 times longer than the theoretical predictions given by M?ller et al. using a macroscopic-microscopic model. It considerably influences the predictions of the abundances of the nuclides produced in the rp-process. (2) The current-model predictions are not consistent with the experimental assignments of the spins and parities for the proton drip-line nuclei 142Ho and 128Pm. However, the nuclear potential energy surface (PES) calculated by using a Woods- Saxon-Strutinsky method reproduced the experimental results. (3. The Alice code overestimated the production reaction cross sections of the studied 9 rare-earth nuclei by one order of magnitude or two, while HIVAP code overestimated them by one order of magnitude approximately.

Besides the state equation there exists another cubic algebraic equation about μf in the form of μf3.+ pμf + q = 0, which relates parameters, temperature T, chemical potential μf, and net quark number nff （flavor f） for a baryon-rich quark-gluon plasma （QGP）. A criterion may be acquired simply according to Cardan formula of the solution of the above equation, which gives naturally a condition: if n 2πT3.3. one may approximately use the conservation of specific entropy, and then the set of hydrodynamic equation of baryon-rich QGP may be reduced to the set of hydrodynamic equation for baryon-free QGP.

Ferromagnetic barrier-induced negative differential conductance on the surface of a topological insulator

The effect of the negative differential conductance of a ferromagnetic barrier on the surface of a topological insulat（ is theoretically investigated. Due to the changes of the shape and position of the Fermi surfaces in the ferromagnetic barrie the transport processes can be divided into three kinds： the total, partial, and blockade transmission mechanisms. The bias voltage can give rise to the transition of the transport processes from partial to blockade transmission mechanisms, which results in a considerable effect of negative differential conductance. With appropriate structural parameters, the currenl voltage characteristics show that the minimum value of the current can reach to zero in a wide range of the bias voltag and then a large peak-to-valley current ratio can be obtained.

The differentiation transforming (DFT) system is developed to produce the tangent linear codes, which is used to calculate the Jaco- bian- and the Hessian-vector products with no truncation errors. This paper first gives the introduction of the functionality and features of the DFT system, and then discusses several techniques for the implementation of automatic differentiation tools, including data depen- dence analysis, singular differentiation and code optimization. Finally, the codes generated with DFT used in several applications have been demonstrated.

Dominant climate factors influencing the Arctic runoff and association between the Arctic runoff and sea ice

By using the Arctic runoff data from R-ArcticNET V4.0 and ArcticRIMS,trends of four major rivers flowing into the Arctic Ocean,whose climate factor plays an important role in determining the variability of the Arctic runoff,are *** results show that for the past 3. years,the trend of the Arctic runoff is seasonally *** is a significant trend in spring and winter and a significant decreasing trend in summer,leading to the reduced seasonal *** spring,surface air temperature is the dominant factor influencing the four *** summer,precipitation is the most important factor for Lena and Mackenzie,while snow cover is the most important factor for Yenisei and *** Mackenzie,atmospheric circulation does play an important role for all the seasons,which is not the case for the Eurasian *** authors further discuss the relationships between the Arctic runoff and sea *** negative correlation is found at the mouth of the rivers into the Arctic Ocean in spring,while significant positive correlation is observed just at the north of the mouths of the rivers into the Arctic in *** addition,each river has different relationship with sea ice in the eastern Greenland Sea.

Calibrating the HXMT collimators using diffuse illumination

We propose a new method to calibrate the HXMT collimators by measuring the optical point spread function(PSF) of the hard X-ray modulation telescope(HXMT).The light transmission of the collimator at different viewing angles with a camera and a diffuse backlight placed behind the collimator is *** method is much easier to accomplish than measuring the PSF with a parallel optical *** experimental results are very consistent with the *** PSF of the collimator of the high energy X-ray telescope on HXMT is found to be in good agreement with the design,with accuracy better than 1 arcmin.

A fast onboard star-extraction algorithm optimized for the SVOM Visible Telescope

The Space multi-band Variable Object Monitor(SVOM) is a proposed chinese astronomical satellite,dedicated to the detection,localization and measurement of gamma-ray bursts(GRBs) on a cosmological *** efficient algorithm is developed for the purpose of onboard star extraction from the CCD images obtained with the Visible Telescope(VT) onboard the *** CCD pixel coordinates of the reference stars will be used to refine the astronomical position of the satellite,which will facilitate triggering rapid ground-based follow-up observations of the *** this algorithm,the image is divided into a number of grid cells and the "global" pixel-value maximum within each cell is taken as the first-guess position of a "bright" *** correct center position of a star is then computed using a simple iterative *** two additional strategies,i.e.,scanning the image only by even(or odd) lines or in a black-white chess board mode,we propose to further reduce the time to extract the *** examine the efficiency of the above algorithms,we applied them to the experimental images obtained with a ground-based *** find that the accuracy of the astronomical positioning achieved by our method is comparable to that derived by using the conventional star-extraction method,while the former needs about 25 times less CPU time than the *** will significantly improve the performance of the SVOM VT mission.
