Aim:To study whether urotensin II（UII）,a potent vasoconstrictive peptide,isinvolved in the development of cardiac hypertrophy and fibrogenesis of ratsinduced by isoproterenol（IsO）.Methods:Thirty male Wistar rats were randomlydivided into 3 *** 1 was the healthy control group,group 2 was the IsOgroup,and group 3 was the IsO+UII *** groups 2 and 3,IsO(5 mg-kg-1.d-1)wasgiven（sc）once daily for 7 *** 3 was also given UII in the first day [3 nmol/kg（5μg/kg）,iv],followed by sc（1.5 μg/kg）twice *** 1 received 0.9% *** receptor（UT）mRNA expression was determined by *** contents ofUII and angiotensin II（Ang II）were determined by *** vitro,the effects of UII on DNA/collagen synthesis of cardiac fibroblasts were deter-mined by [3H]thymidine/[3H]proline ***:The ratio of heartweight/body weight,plasma lactate dehydrogenase activity,myocardialmalondialdehyde and hydroxyproline concentration increased significantly in theIsO group,as well as UT mRNA expression,plasma and cardiac UII and ventricu-lar Ang II,compared with the control group（PsO induced significantmyocardial ***,UII+IsO co-treatment significantly increasedthe changes of biochemical markers of injury and the degree of cardiac hypertro-phy and *** vitro,5×10～9-5×10-7mol/L UII stimulated[3H]thymidine/[3H]proline incorporation into cardiac fibroblasts in a dose-dependent manner（Psion:These results suggest that UII was involved in the development ofcardiac fibrosis and hypertrophy by synergistic effects with IsO.

Approach to synthesis of novel chiral 3-chloro-2(5H)- furanone and its application in asymmetric reactions

The synthetic method of the novel chiral synthon, 5-/-menthyloxy-3-chloro-2-(5H)-furanone 5a and its application in asymmetric reactions were investigated. 5a is easily obtained in highly optical purity, and acts as a stable acceptor of Michael addition with oxygen nucleophiles in tandem double Michael addition / internal nucieophilic substitution to offer the spiro-cyclopropane derivative containing four stereogenic centers 8, which it is difficult to obtain by routine methods. The synthetic methods for 5a and 8 are reported in detail and the new compounds are identified on the basis of their analytical data and spectroscopic data, such as UV, IR, H NMR,13 C NMR, Ms and elementary analysis. The absolute configuration of the interesting spiro-cyclopropanes, spiro [1-chloro-4-(/-menthyloxy)-5-oxo-6-oxa-biscyclo[3.1.0]hexane-2,3i(4’-/-menthyloxy-5’-/-menthyloxy- butyrolactone)] 8 was established by X-ray crystallography. Fuzzy tracking control design for hypersonic vehicles via T-s model

The main focus of this paper is on designing a T-s fuzzy controller for the hypersonic vehicle. The longitudinal dynamics of the vehicle are studied using time-scale decomposition to reduce the complexity of T-s modeling. The dynamic inversion with PI control technique is applied for the slow dynamics to derive the flight path angle command and throttle setting by taking the pilot altitude and velocity command as its inputs. The T-s fuzzy controller is designed for the fast dynamics to derive the elevator deflection to track the flight path angle command. The discrepancy between the T-s model and real vehicle model is considered by using sliding mode control for the system stability. simulation results are included to show the effectiveness of the controller.

Human multi-drug resistant hepatocellular carcinoma induced in nude mice by B-ultrasonographically-directed orthotopic implantation:a new experimental model

BACKGROUND:Present studies on the reversal of multi-drug resistance(MDR) are almost entirely limited to in vitro systems,and are seldom carried out in vivo. In order to study MDR under the in vivo situation,a MDR cell strain was used to establish a model in nude mice via orthotopic implantation directed by B-ultrasonography. This model is expected to provide a good platform for evaluating strategies to reverse the phenomenon of primary hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) MDR. METHODs:An orthotopic MDR1 hepatoma was obtained by injecting the cell lines HepG2 and HepG2/ADM subserosally into the liver of nude mice(10 control and 20 MDR mice). The injections were made under B-ultrasonographic direction. Ultrasonography and laparotomy were used to assess tumor growth,and the long chain PCR technique was applied to sequence the MDR1 gene from multi-drug resistant human HCC cells,HepG2/ADM,and corresponding implanted tumor tissues. Furthermore,MDR1 mRNA and P-gp protein expression were evaluated by reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR),Western blotting,and immunohistochemical methods. REsULTs:The success rates of tumor implantation and induction of MDR were 100%(30/30) and 95%(19/20),respectively. The 3.8kbp MDR1 gene band was detected from the HepG2/ADM cell line and the correspondingimplanted tumor tissues,and the MDR1 gene sequence coincided with that reported in GenBank. The expressions of MDR1 mRNA and P-gp protein in MDR mice were significantly higher than those in the control group. There was a significant difference in P-gp protein expression between MDR and control mice. CONCLUsION:A MDR model has been successfully established in nude mice via orthotopic implantation of multi-drug resistant human HCC cells directed by ultrasonography.

self-Organizing Tunnel Peers

Tunneling is an important approach in IPv6 transition techniques. The tunnel broker model provides a way to build virtual IPv6 networks without manual ***, neither it adapts performance variation on the IPv4 infrastructure, norit is a scalable solution for a wide-area IPv6 networking environment. In this paper, a self-organizing tunnel peer (sOTP) model is *** peers are clustered in the sOTP system so that optimization is scalable. Four primitive operations related to --cluster constructionarrest,release,division and deathendow the system with the nature of self-organization. Occurrence and behavior of the operations are decided by criteria on the IPv4 end-to-end performance; hence measurement is an indispensable component of the system. The metabolism of cluster relaxes the requirement to accuracy of measurement and optimization.

Molecular phylogeny of Pneumocystis based on 5.8s rRNA gene and the internal transcribed spacers of rRNA gene sequences

To clarify the phylogenetic relationships and species status of Pneumocystis, the 5.8s rRNA gene and the internal transcribed spacers (ITs, 1 and 2) of Pneumocystis rRNA derived from rat, gerbil and human were amplified, cloned and sequenced. The genetic distance matrix of six Pneumocystis species compared with other fungi like Taphrina and saccharomyces indicated that the Pneumocystis genus contained multiple species including Pneumocystis from gerbil. The phylogenetic tree also showed that Pneumocystis from human and monkey formed one group and four rodent Pneumocystis formed another group. Among the four members, Pneumocystis wakefieldiae was most closely related to Pneumocystis murina and Pneumocystis carinii, and was least related to gerbil Pneumocystis.

Fuzzy controllers based on some fuzzy implication operators and their response functions

The fuzzy controllers constructed by 23 fuzzy implication operators based on CRI algorithm and their response functions are discussed. The conclusions show that the fuzzy controllers constructed by 9 fuzzy implication operators are universal approximators to continuous functions and can be used in practical fuzzy control systems. And these 9 fuzzy implication operators except for Einstein operator intersection are all the adjoint pairs of some fuzzy implication operators. Besides, there are 3 other fuzzy controllers formed by fuzzy implication operators being regarded approximately as fitted functions.

Electrical Properties of Expanded Graphite Intercalation Compounds

The intercalation compounds of CuCl2 were synthesized with expanded graphite, whose magnitude of the electrical conductivity is about 10(3)s(.)cm(-1). Their electrical conductivity is 3 similar to6 times as high as that of the expanded graphite, and about 10 times as high as that of GIC made of the non-expanded graphite. The microanalysis results of chemical compounds by X-ray energy spectrum scanning of TEM testified that the atomic ratio of chloride and cupric is nonstoichoimetric. The multivalence and exchange of electrovalence of the cupric ion was confirmed by the XPs-EsCA. Vacancy of chlorine anion increases the concentration of charge carrier. The special stage structure, made of graphite and chloride, produces a weak chemical bond belt and provides a carrier space in the direction of GIC layer. These factors develop the electrical properties.

This paper studies Γ-convergence for a sequence of parabolic functionals, where the integrand f is nonconvex, and periodic on the first variable. The author obtains the representation formula of the Γ-limit. The results in this paper support a conclusion which relates Γ-convergence of parabolic functionals to the associated gradiend flows and confirms one of De Giorgi’s conjectures partially.

Molecular mechanism of dehydrin in response to environmental stress in plant

Dehydrins, known as the D-11 subgroup of late embryogenesis abundant (LEA) protein, are an immunologically distinct family of proteins, which typically accumulate in desiccation-tolerant seed embryo or in vegetative tissues in response to various environmental stresses such as drought, salinity and freezing. The existence of conservative sequences designated as K, s, and Y segments is a structural feature of dehydrins, and the K segment found in all dehydrins represents a highly conserved 15 amino acid motif (EKKGIMDKIKEKLPG) and forms an amphiphilicα-helix. According to the arrangement of these domains and clustering analysis, dehydrins are subdivided into 5 subtypes: YnsK, Kn, Kns, sKn and YnK. Different types of dehydrins are induced by different environmental stress in plants. study results showed that dehydrins might play important protective roles under abiotic stress via a number of different mechanisms, including improving or protecting enzyme activities by the cryoprotective activity in responding to freeze/thaw or dehydration; stabilizing vesicles or other endomembrane structures by function as the membrane stabilizer during freeze induced dehydration, and preventing the membrane system from the oxidative damage induced by reactive oxygen radicals as the radical scavenger. Here, the gene expression and molecular mechanisms of dehydrin in response to stress in plants are discussed.
