As the role of missions and experiments carried out in outer space becomes more and more essential in our understanding of many earthly problems,such as resource management,environmental problems,and disaster management,as well as space science questions,thanks to their lower cost and faster development process CubeSats can benefit humanity and therefore,young scientists and engineers have been motivated to research and develop new CubeSat *** very long after their inception,CubeSats have evolved to become accepted platforms for scientific and commercial *** last couple of years showed that they are a feasible tool for conducting scientific experiments,not only in the Earth orbit but also in the interplanetary *** many countries,a CubeSat mission could prompt the community and young teams around the world to build the national capacity to launch and operate national space *** paper presents an overview of the key scientific and engineering gateways opened up to the younger scientific community by the advent and adaptation of new technology into CubeSat *** role of cooperation and the opportunities for capacity-building and education are also ***,the present article also aims to provide useful recommendations to scientists,early-career researchers,engineers,students,and anyone who intends to explore the potential and opportunities offered by CubeSats and CubeSats-based missions.

Asymptotic false discovery control of the Benjamini-Hochberg procedure for pairwise comparisons

in a one-way analysis-of-variance(ANOVA) model,the number of pairwise comparisons can become large even with a moderate number of *** by this,we consider a regime with a growing number of groups and prove that,when testing pairwise comparisons,the Benjamini-Hochberg(BH) procedure can asymptotically control false discoveries,despite the fact that the involved t-statistics do not exhibit the wellknown positive dependence structure required for exact false discovery rate(FDR) *** tukey's perspective that the difference between the means of any two groups cannot be exactly zero,our main result provides control over the directional false discovery rate and directional false discovery proportion.A key technical contribution of our work is demonstrating that the dependence among the t-statistics is sufficiently weak to establish the convergence result typically required for asymptotic FDR *** analysis does not rely on conventional assumptions such as normality,variance homogeneity,or a balanced design,thereby offering a theoretical foundation for applications in more general settings.

Brain-derived neurotrophic factor is a key factor in stress adaptation and avoidance of a social stress behavioral *** studies have shown that brain-derived neurotrophic factor expression in stressed mice is brain region–specific,particularly involving the corticolimbic system,including the ventral tegmental area,nucleus accumbens,prefrontal cortex,amygdala,and *** how brain-derived neurotrophic factor participates in stress processing in different brain regions will deepen our understanding of social stress *** this review,we discuss the expression and regulation of brain-derived neurotrophic factor in stress-sensitive brain regions closely related to the pathophysiology of *** focused on associated molecular pathways and neural circuits,with special attention to the brain-derived neurotrophic factor–tropomyosin receptor kinase B signaling pathway and the ventral tegmental area–nucleus accumbens dopamine *** determined that stress-induced alterations in brain-derived neurotrophic factor levels are likely related to the nature,severity,and duration of stress,especially in the above-mentioned brain regions of the corticolimbic ***,BDNF might be a biological indicator regulating stress-related processes in various brain regions.

GPiO-Based Continuous Sliding Mode Control for Networked Control Systems Under Communication Delays With Experiments on Servo Motors

to handle input and output time delays that commonly exist in many networked control systems(NCSs), a new robust continuous sliding mode control(CSMC) scheme is proposed for the output tracking in uncertain single input-single-output(SiSO) networked control systems. this scheme consists of three consecutive steps. First, although the network-induced delay in those systems can be effectively handled by using Pade approximation(PA), the unmatched disturbance cames out as another difficulty in the control design. Second, to actively estimate this unmatched disturbance, a generalized proportional integral observer(GPiO) technique is utilized based on only one measured state. third, by constructing a new sliding manifold with the aid of the estimated unmatched disturbance and states, a GPiO-based CSMC is synthesized, which is employed to cope with not only matched and unmatched disturbances, but also networkinduced delays. the stability of the entire closed-loop system under the proposed GPiO-based CSMC is detailedly *** promising tracking efficiency and feasibility of the proposed control methodology are verified through simulations and experiments on Quanser's servo module for motion control under various test conditions.

Far-infrared and submillimeter properties of SDSS galaxies in the Herschel AtLAS science demonstration phase field

Using the Herschel AtLAS science demonstration phase data cross- identified with SDSS DR7 spectra, we select 297 galaxies with F250μm 〉 5σ. the sample galaxies are classified into five morphological types, and more than 40% of the galaxies are peculiar/compact galaxies. the peculiar galaxies show higher far- infrared/submillimeter luminosity-to-mass ratios than the other types. We perform and analyze the correlations of far-infrared/submillimeter and Hα luminosities for differ- ent morphological types and different spectral types. the Spearman rank coefficient decreases and the scatter increases with the wavelength increasing from 100 μm to 500 μm. We conclude that a single Herschel SPiRE band is not good for tracing star formation activities in galaxies. AGNs contribute less to the far-infrared/submillimeter luminosities and do not show a difference from star-forming galaxies. However, the earlier type galaxies present significant deviations from the best fit of star-forming galaxies.

Nature of Surface Layer and Electrochemical Behavior of NaOH Hydrothermally treated Niti Alloy

Niti samples were hydrothermally treated in NaOH at 200℃ with different soaking times. the morphology of the surface layer formed was studied by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). the composition of the layer and the major phases present were determined by energy-dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) and X-ray diffractometry (XRD), respectively. in contrast to the results reported by some authors, the surface layer was essentially Ni(OH)2 instead of being tiO2. the electrochemical behavior of the samples was studied by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EiS) in 3.5% NaCl solution at 23℃, and analyzed using a simplified Randle circuit consisting of a resistance R and a capacitance C in parallel. After hydrothermal treatment, R was increased by a factor ranging from 1.5 to 5.0 times, depending on the treatment time. the value of R of all the samples became steady within a period of less than 15 h. Results of the present study indicate that alkaline treatment leads to the growth of an insulating layer on Niti, but the method is not suitable for surface modification of Niti implants due to the enhanced Ni content in the surface layer.

Recent Advances in Purely Organic Room temperature Phosphorescence Polymer

Room temperature phosphorescence(RtP) has drawn increasing attention for its great potential in practical *** with large molecular weights and long chains tend to form coil, which can endow them with a high degree of possible rigidity and result in the much restricted non-radiative transition. Also, the intertwined structure of polymers could isolate the oxygen and humidity effectively, thus reducing the consumption of triplet excitons. in consideration of these points, organic polymers would be another kind of ideal platform to realize RtP effect. this short review summarized the design strategy of the purely organic room temperature phosphorescence polymers, mainly focusing on the building forms of polymers and the corresponding inherent mechanisms,and also gives some outlooks on the further exploration of this field at the end of this paper.

Optimizing mechanical properties of HiPS fabricated with low-cost desktop 3D printers:investigating the impact of process parameters

Recently,low-cost desktop three-dimensional(3D)printers,employing the fused deposition modeling(FDM)technique,have gained widespread ***,most users cannot test the strength of printed parts,and little information is available about the mechanical properties of printed high-impact polystyrene(HiPS)parts using desktop 3D *** this study,the user-adjustable parameters of desktop 3D printers,such as crisscross raster orientation,layer thickness,and infill density,were *** experimental plans were designed using the Box-Behnken method,and tensile,3-point bending,and compression tests were carried out to determine the mechanical responses of the printed *** prediction models of the process parameters were regressed to produce the optimal combination of process *** experimental results showcase that the crisscross raster orientation has significant effects on the flexural and compression strengths,but not on the tensile *** an increase in the layer thickness,the tensile,flexural,and compression strengths first decreased and then increased,reaching their minimum values at approximately 0.16 mm layer *** addition,they all increased with an increase of infill *** was demonstrated that when the raster orientation,layer thickness,and infill density were 13.08°/–76.92°,0.09 mm,and 80%,respectively,the comprehensive mechanical properties of the printed HiPS were *** results can help end-users of desktop 3D printers understand the effects of process parameters on the mechanical properties,and offer practical suggestions for setting proper printing parameters for fabricating HiPS parts.

Large-eddy simulation and linear acoustic modeling of entropy mode oscillations in a model combustor with coolant injection

Lean-burn combustor is particularly susceptible to combustion instability and the unsteady heat release is usually considered as the excitation of the self-maintained thermoacoustic oscillations. the transverse coolant injection is widely used to reduce the temperature of burnt gas, but on the other hand, it will introduce temperature fluctuation inside the ***, it is necessary to consider the influence of the coolant injection on combustion instability, and evaluate its dynamic feature. in this paper, Large-Eddy Simulation（LES） of the self-excited pressure oscillations in a model combustor with coolant injection is carried out. the analysis of transient flow characteristics and the identification of the pressure modes confirm that one of the low frequency pressure oscillations is related to entropy fluctuations, which is known as rumble combustion instability. the LES results show that transient coolant injection is another excitation of temperature fluctuation other than unsteady combustion. the amplitude of the entropy mode oscillation increases with increasing coolant air mass whereas the change of its frequency is insignificant. According to the major feature of entropy wave oscillation caused by coolant injection, a compact coolant injection model is proposed and applied in the One Dimensional（1 D） Acoustic Network Method（ANM）. Key correlations used in the model match well with LES data in low frequency range. this means that the coolant injection model is a complex one reflecting the interaction of the fluctuating coolant mass, pressure and temperature. Finally, the combustion instability frequencies and modes predicted by acoustic network method are also in good agreement with LES results.

Optimal Operation of turbo Blowers Serially Connected Using inlet Vanes

Optimal operation of the turbo blowers having an inlet vane has been studied to understand the blowers' operating *** analyze three-dimensional flow field in the turbo blowers serially connected,general analysis code,CFX,is introduced in the present *** turbulence model is employed to estimate the eddy *** the numerical analysis,it is found that the flow rates of the turbo blowers can be controlled at the vane angle between 90 (full open condition) degrees and 60 degrees effectively,because pressure loss rapidly increases below 60 degree of a vane *** also has almost the same values from 90 degrees to 60 degrees of a vane *** is noted that the distorted inlet velocity generated in the small vane angle makes performance deterioration of the turbo blowers due to the local leading edge separation and the following non-uniform blade loading.
