Coronavirus disease 2019(COViD-19)vaccines are currently approved or authorized to prevent serious outcomes,such as severe disease,hospitalization,and death.The Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine is recommended for everyone aged five and older in the United States(US)to prevent severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)infection[1,2].However,it is unclear whether children with a history of multisystem,inflammatory syndrome in children(MiS-C)may be at risk for a MiS-like response following COViD-19 vaccination or SARS-CoV-2 reinfection[2].Therefore,physicians remain uncertain about vaccinating children with a history of MiS-C.This study investigates the occurrence of severe,systemic side effects of COViD-19 vaccines and the recurrence of the MiS-C symptoms in children with a history of MiS-C to overcome vaccine hesitancy.

Evaluation of interferon-Gamma Release Assay Testing and Tuberculin Skin Test for Early Diagnosis of Tuberculosis in Children and Adolescents

Background: This study aimed to evaluate the diagnostic value of interferon-γ release assay (iGRA), a sensitive microbiological diagnostic method, in children and adolescents with suspected tuberculosis in a country with a high burden of tuberculosis. Method: This study included 581 children and adolescents aged 4 - 19 years who were suspected of having tuberculosis, were latently infected with Mycobacterium tuberculosis, and had received at least one dose of BCG vaccine between April 17, 2019, and February 24, 2021. The study evaluated the TST results of 106 patients who had a positive Quantiferon test and were suspected of having tuberculosis. Results: The study included 581 patients aged between 4 and 19 years. Of these, 106 patients tested positive for the Quantiferon test, while 19 were indeterminate and 456 were negative. The Quantiferon test positivity rate was 18.24%. Among the 106 QFT-Plus-positive cases, 23 patients also tested positive for TST. The difference in distribution was found to be statistically significant. Conclusion: The QFT-Plus test is considered an alternative to TST and other microbiological diagnostic methods for early tuberculosis diagnosis, particularly in children and adolescents.

Evaluation of proximal tubule functions in children with COViD‑19:a prospective analytical study

Background There are limited numbers of studies focusing on renal efects of coronavirus disease 2019(COViD-19)infection and proximal tubular dysfunction in children with COViD-19 infections.The purpose of this study was to evaluate the functions of the proximal tubule in hospitalized children with confrmed acute COViD-19.Methods The children who were hospitalized for confrmed COViD-19 were included in this prospective descriptive analysis.The presence of at least two of the following four abnormalities was used to diagnose proximal tubule injury:abnormal tubular reabsorption of phosphate,normoglycemic glycosuria,hyperuricosuria,and proteinuria.Results A total of 115 patients were included in the study.About a third of the individuals had elevated blood creatinine levels or proteinuria.in addition,abnormal renal tubular phosphate loss measured by renal tubular phosphate loss was found in 10(8.7%)patients,as was hyperuricosuria in 28.6%.As a result,total proximal tubular dysfunction was found in 24(20.9%)patients.Conclusions One in every fve children with acute COViD-19 infections had proximal tubular dysfunction,according to our data.Although,the rate of proximal tubular dysfunction was lower than in adults,it should be noted.The recovery of proximal tubular function in children with COViD-19 should be followed.

Bose-Einstein Condensate in a Linear Trap with a Dimple Potential

We study Bose-Einstein condensation in a linear trap with a dimple potential where we model dimple potentials by Dirac δ function. Attractive and repulsive dimple potentials are taken into account. This model allows simple, explicit numerical and analytical investigations of noninteracting gases. Thus, the Schrdinger equation is used instead of the Gross-Pitaevski equation. We calculate the atomic density, the chemical potential, the critical temperature and the condensate fraction. The role of the relative depth of the dimple potential with respect to the linear trap in large condensate formation at enhanced temperatures is clearly revealed. Moreover, we also present a semi-classical method for calculating various quantities such as entropy analytically. Moreover, we compare the results of this paper with the results of a previous paper in which the harmonic trap with a dimple potential in 1D is investigated.

Honey prevents hepatic damage induced by obstruction of the common bile duct

AiM:To examine the possible effects of honey supplementation on hepatic damage due to obstruction of the common bile duct in an experimental rat model. METHODS:The study was performed with 30 male rats divided into three groups:a sham group,an obstructive jaundice group,and an obstructive jaundice plus honey group. At the end of the study period,the animals were sacrificed,and levels of nitric oxide(NO) ,and NO synthase(NOS) activities were measured in liver tissues,and levels of adenosine deaminase(ADA) and alanine transaminase(ALT) activities were measured in serum. RESULTS:Blood ALT and ADA activities were significantly elevated in the jaundice group as compared to those of the sham group. in the obstructive jaundice plus honey group,blood ALT and ADA activities were significantly decreased as compared to those of the jaundice group. in erythrocytes and liver tissues,NO levels were found to be significantly higher in the obstructive jaundice plus honey group compared to those of the sham group. Additionally,NO levels were found to be significantly higher in liver tissues from the animals in the obstructive jaundice plus honey group than those of the jaundice group.CONCLUSiON:Honey was found to be beneficial in the prevention of hepatic damage due to obstruction of the common bile duct.

A New Ratio-Metric pH Probe,“ThiAKS Green”for Live-Cell pH Measurements

Deviation of the H+concentration from optimum values within the organelles is closely associated with irregular cellular functions that cause the onset of various diseases.Therefore,determining subcellular pH values in live cells and tissues is valuable for diagnostic purposes.in this study,we report a novel ratiometric fluorescence probe 1H-pyrazole-3-carboxylic acid,4-(benzo[d]thiazol-2-yl)-3-(2,4-dihydroxy-3-methylphenyl)-1H-pyrazole-5-carboxylicacid4-(2-benz othiazolyl)-5-(2,4-dihydroxy-3-methylphenyl),to which we will refer as ThiAKS Green(Thiazole AKyol shifting green),that is pH sensitive.The results presented here show that the probe can penetrate the celi membrane in iess than 30minutes and does not show any detectable toxicity.The measured color shifts up on pH change are linear and most significant around physiological pH(pKa=7.45),thus making this probe suitable for live-cell imaging and intracellular pH measurements.During the long-incubation periods following the application of the probe and the fluorescent microscopy measurements,it shows stable properties and is easy to detect in live cells.in conclusion,the results suggest that ThiAKS Green can be used to obtain precise information on the H+distribution at various compartments of the live cells.

Synthesis and characterization of salt-impregnated anodic aluminum oxide composites for low-grade heat storage

Thermochemical heat storage(THS)systems have recently attracted a lot of attention in research and development.in this study,an anodic aluminum oxide(AAO)template,fabricated by a two-step anodization method,was used for the first time as the matrix material for a THS system.Different salts were studied as thermochemical materials for their suitability in low-grade heat storage application driven by solar energy for an open system.Compositions were prepared by absorbing CaCl2,MgCl2,LiCl,LiNO3 and mixtures of these salts under a vacuum in an AAO matrix.Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy was used to examine the morphology of the produced AAO composites.Thermal energy storage capacities of the composites were characterized using a differential scanning calorimeter.Characterization analysis showed that anodized Al plates were suitable matrix materials for THS systems,and composite sorbent prepared with a 1:1 ratio LiCl/LiNO3 salt mixture had the highest energy value among all composites,with an energy density of 468.1 k J·kg-1.

Effect of vaccination status on CORADS and computed tomography severity score in hospitalized COViD-19 patients:A retrospective study

BACKGROUND The coronavirus disease 2019(COViD-19)pandemic is continuing.The disease most commonly affects the lungs.Since the beginning of the pandemic thorax computed tomography(CT)has been an indispensable imaging method for diagnosis and follow-up.The disease is tried to be controlled with vaccines.Vaccination reduces the possibility of a severe course of the disease.AiM The aim of this study is to investigate whether the vaccination status of patients hospitalized due to COViD-19 has an effect on the CT severity score(CT-SS)and CORADS score obtained during hospitalization.METHODS The files of patients hospitalized between April 1,2021 and April 1,2022 due to COViD-19 were retrospectively reviewed.A total of 224 patients who were older than 18 years of age,whose vaccination status was accessible,whose severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 polymerase chain reaction result was positive,and who had a Thorax CT scan during hospitalization were included in the study.RESULTS Among the patients included in the study,52.2%were female and the mean age was 61.85 years.The patients applied to the hospital on the average 7th day of their complaints.While 63 patients were unvaccinated(Group 1),20 were vaccinated with a single dose of CoronaVac(Group 2),24 with a single dose of BioNTech(Group 3),38 with 2 doses of CoronaVac(Group 4),40 with 2 doses of BioNTech(Group 5),and 39 with 3 doses of vaccine(2 doses of CoronaVac followed by a single dose of BioNTech,Group 6).CT-SS ranged from 5 to 23,with a mean of 12.17.RESULTS CT-SS mean of the groups were determined as 14.17,13.35,11.58,10.87,11.28,10.85,respectively.Accordingly,as a result of the comparisons between the groups,the CT-SS levels of the unvaccinated patients found to be significantly higher than the other groups.As the vaccination rates increased,the rate of typical COViD-19 findings on CT was found to be significantly lower.CONCLUSiON increased vaccination rates in COViD-19 patients reduce the probability of typical COViD-19 symptoms in the lungs.it also

Who Populates the Visual Landscape of the ELT Coursebooks？： A Photo Analytical Exploration

The aim of this study is to portray and explore the variety of social actors depicted visually along the pages of the intermediate level ELT coursebooks that are published locally (by British and American publishers) and marketed globally (mostly to the EFL contexts). For this, a thorough photo-ethnographic exploration of the visuals supported by the inventory of "social actor interaction network" is employed. in the field of Coursebook Analysis, visuals have attracted limited attention despite marking asocio-semiotically rich discursive field. in fact, the semiotic labor division between the "word" and the "image" in representing and reconstructing (simulating) the world, points to a gain on the part of the image as the brain is evolutionarily more experienced in processing visual information than processing verbal information. Therefore, images can appeal more directly to the sensory experience domains of the viewers via visual contact, evoking deeper consciousness. Acting as the prominent mediators of signification practice, visuals catalogue the representations and simulations of social-life viewed from a particular subject position associated with a particular set of norms, beliefs, and values. Hence, they position the viewers across dynamic loci of subjectivities in terms of social distance, relations, and interaction. As both reflections and reproductions of reality, images in the coursebooks have the potent to influence learners" perspectives of the world presenting them with readymade cognitive schemes. in order to reveal a comprehensive picture of the visually depicted social actors and the identity options made available through them, in this study the author focused on the peopled photos of the 6 popularly traded ELT coursebooks. The author investigated them regarding the relations of social distance, involvement, power and interaction formed between the depicted social actors and their viewers as well as the emergent practices of exclusion, role allocation, genericization, specification, assimilation
