摘 要：The importance of the difficult airway management in the clinical practice. To enhance the safety of anesthesia practice, American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) Closed Claims Project was initiated in 1985. This project has been collecting data of anesthesia malpractice claims from 35 national insurance companies as far back as 1970. This project reveled that the difficult intubation is the second most frequent primary damaging event leading to malpractice claims. It is responsible for 6. 4% of 4,459 claims (1970 - 2000) in the closed claims database. Brain damage or death was the
