摘      要:There can be no doubt that huge advances in our knowledge of the Universe have been attained thanks to spectral-timing studies of extreme celestial objects emitting in the X-ray.At the same time X-ray all sky monitors have made tremendous contributions to our understanding of the physics and astrophysics of the hot and violent Universe,by observing the variability of the sky and detecting new,transient,and often completely unexpected phenomena.These advances have always been prompted by groundbreaking instrumentation,based on innovative,challenging,technology.
