摘 要:Legume plants, such as the model systems,Medicago truncatula and Lotus japonica, and crop plants like soybean(Glycine max)and common bean(Phaseolus vulgaris),are able to utilize atmospheric nitrogen due to their symbiosis with nitrogen-fixing soil bacteria, rhizobia(Roy et al.,2020).Interestingly,this symbiosis is limited to only a few plant species, and the mechanisms behind the distinct ability of legume roots to facilitate this symbiosis remained obscure for a long *** hint as to how this occurs is that cortex cells in the legume root ground tissue are able to divide and form a unique structure called the nodule that supports rhizobia colonization.
