Prospect and Limits of China-EU Relations in Higher Education: A Danish Case Study

Along with China’s economic growth,the notable rise of its universities and innovation system has inspired growing interest in how the higher education institutions(HEIs)of the European Union(EU)cooperate with Chinese *** with a review of China-EU higher education relations,this paper presents a case study of a Sino-Danish collaborative programme in which cooperation and programme quality were limited by both partners’different aims over time,and their alternate quality assurance *** suggest a proper collaborative level and discipline should be developed before the establishment of cooperation by taking relevant policies,merits and disadvantages of both partners,into *** paper also points out that limits in collaboration can be alleviated,if a number of elements can be used effectively,such as China’s significant EU knowledge *** this and other listed factors,including favorable policies introduced by the Chinese government,there are substantial prospects for extending China-EU collaborative relations and exchanges.

There remain challenges in understanding the aging lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Method: A cross-sectional comparison of people with and without I/DD was created using China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS). A definition of I/DD was established, three samples were created: those with an assigned/described intellectual and developmental disability prior to age 22 years;those with similar impairments at and after age 22 years;and those in the population without an assigned/described impairment. Findings: Those with I/DD appeared to have greater health needs on initial analysis. People with an impairment similar to I/DD but occurring after age 22 years had the same or greater needs in subsequent analyses. Both groups had greater needs than those with no identified disability. Discussion: There must be greater efforts to discover those with I/DD who are already in existing datasets, greater attention to the full range of lives led by people with I/DD and inclusion of data from a broader range of countries.

Type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM) is a growing problem among Asian *** on the Centers for Disease Control,the age-adjusted prevalence of T2 DM for Asian Americans is 9%,placing them at "moderate risk".However differential patterns of disease burden emerge when examining disaggregated data acrossAsian American ethnic groups; with Filipino,Pacific Islander,Japanese,and South Asian groups consistently described as having the highest prevalence of T2 *** and strengthening prevalence data is vital for on-going prevention *** strongest evidence currently available to guide the prevention of T2 DM in the United States comes from a large multicenter randomized clinical control trial called the Diabetes Prevention Program,which targets individual lifestyle behavior *** has been translated and adopted for some Asian American groups,and shows *** stronger study designs and attention to several key methodological considerations will improve the *** attention has also been directed toward population level downstream prevention *** an infrastructure that includes both individual and population approaches is needed to prevent T2 DM among Asian American populations,and is essential for reducing health disparities.

AIM:To undertake a metasynthesis of qualitative studies to understand the health and social needs of people living with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). METHODS:A systematic search strategy identified qualitative studies exploring the phenomenon of living with inflammatory bowel disease. Databases included MEDLINE, PsychInfo, EMBASE, CINAHL and the British Nursing Index via the OVID platform. Qualitative search filters were adapted from Hedges database (http://***/hslt/miner/ digital_library/tip_sheets/Cinahl_eb_***). Qualitative empirical studies exploring the health and social needs of people living with inflammatory bowel disease were selected. Study eligibility and data extraction were independently completed using the Critical Appraisal Skills Programme for qualitative studies. The studies were analysed and synthesised using metasynthesis methodology. The themes from the studies allowed for common translations into a new interpretation of the impact of living with inflammatory bowel disease. RESULTS:Of 1395 studies, six published studies and one unpublished thesis fulfilled the inclusion criteria. First iteration of synthesis identified 16 themes, 2nd iteration synthesised these into three main 2nd order constructs:"detained by the disease"; "living in a world of disease" and "wrestling with life". "Detained by the disease" is the fear of incontinence, the behaviour the patients display due to the fear, and the impact this has on the individual, such as social isolation and missing out on life events. All of these serve to "pull" the patient back from normal living. "Living in a world of disease" is the long term effects of living with a long term condition and the fear of these effects. "Wrestling with life" is the continued fight to thrive, the "push" to continue normal living. CONCLUSION:The metasynthesis provides a comprehensive representation of living with IBD.
