Environmental performance assessments of different methods of coal preparation for use in small-capacity boilers: experiment and theory

The purpose of this article is to receive environmental assessments of combustion of different types of coal fuel depending on the preparation(unscreened,size-graded,briquetted and heat-treated)in automated boilers and boilers with manual *** assessments were made on the basis of data obtained from experimental methods of coal preparation and calculated methods of determining the amount of pollutant and greenhouse gas emissions,as well as the mass of ash and slag *** main pollutants from coal combustion are calculated:particulate matter,benz(a)pyrene,nitrogen oxides,sulfur dioxide,carbon *** the greenhouse gases carbon dioxide is *** a result of conducted research it is shown that the simplest preliminary preparation(size-graded)of coal significantly improves combustion efficiency and environmental performance:emissions are reduced by 13%for hard coal and up to 20%for brown *** introduction of automated boil-ers with heat-treated coal in small boiler facilities allows to reduce emissions and ash and slag waste by 2-3 *** best environmental indicators correspond to heat-treated lignite,which is characterized by the absence of sulfur dioxide emissions.

The development of interstate electric ties ISETs and grids(ISGs) is a global process; recently, countries of Northeast Asia(NEA) that were previously very poorly connected have started to study the possibility of constructing ISETs and ISGs. This paper describes the current state of the interstate transmissions in the NEA region, considering the prospective projects of ISETs in NEA. The results of the system optimization study on prospective NEA ISGs are provided. The proposals on the development of electric power cooperation in NEA are formulated.

The adaption of photosynthesis, being a key metabolic process, plays an important role in plant resistance to air drought. In this study, the siberian crabapple(Malus baccata L. Borkh.) in the forest-steppe zone of Transbaikalia region, Russia, was subjected to air drought stress and its photosynthesis characteristics were analyzed. The results show that air drought and sufficient soil moisture supply lead to the decrease in the total chlorophyll(Chl) content, while the ratio of Chls to carotenoids is constant in the siberian crabapple tree. The function of photosystem II(PS-II) in the crabapple trees is characterized by a decrease in the fraction of absorbed light energy spent on the photochemical work and an increase in the proportion of non-photosynthetic thermal quenching. These changes indicate the photosynthetic down-regulation that acts as a universal photoprotective mechanism. During the midday hours, the combination of high air temperature and low air humidity leads to the decrease in the maximum photochemical quantum yield of photosystem II(Fv/Fm) and the efficiency of photosynthesis(PABS). The parameters of leaf gas exchange show the significant differences in these values between the control and experimental variants. During the morning hours, the siberian crabapple, growing in the Irkutsk City,assimilates carbon dioxide more intensively. Due to the higher air humidity, the stomata are kept open and the necessary amount of carbon dioxide entries the sites of carboxylation. The low air humidity combined with wind in the experimental variants leads to the unreasonably high water loss in the crabapple leaves by more than 27% as compared to the control variant(Irkutsk City). However, water use efficiency in the morning hours increases during plant photosynthetic processes, i.e., 42% higher than that of control. This,apparently, is a reflection of the adaptation processes of the siberian crabapple to the air drought and parching wind.

The Burpala alkaline massif contains rocks with more than 50 minerals rich in Zr,Nb,Ti,Th,Be and rare earth elements（REE）.The rocks vary in composition from shonkinite,melanocratic syenite,nepheline and alkali syenites to alaskite and alkali granite and contain up to 10%LILE and HSFE,3.6%of REE and varying amounts of other trace elements（4%Zr,0.5%Y,0.5%Nb,0.5%Th and 0.1%U）.Geological and geochemical data suggest that all the rocks in the Burpala massif were derived from alkaline magma enriched in rare earth *** extreme products of magma fractionation are REE rich pegmatites,apatite-fiuorite bearing rocks and *** Sr and Nd isotope data suggest that the source of primary melt is enriched mantle（EM-Ⅱ）.We correlate the massif to mantle plume impact on the active margin of the siberian continent.

This paper presents new major and trace element data from 150 garnet xenocrysts from the *** kimberlite pipe located in the central part of the Arkhangelsk diamondiferous province（ADP）.Based on the concentrations of Cr_2O_3,CaO,TiO_2 and rare earth elements（REE） the garnets were divided into seven groups：（1） lherzolitic ＂depleted＂ garnets（＂Lz 1＂）,（2） lherzolitic garnets with normal REE patterns（＂Lz2＂）,（3） lherzolitic garnets with weakly sinusoidal REE patterns（＂Lz 3＂）,（4） lherzolitic garnets with strongly sinusoidal REE patterns（＂Lz 4＂）,（5） harzburgitic garnets with sinusoidal REE patterns（＂Hz＂）,（6）wehrlitic garnets with weakly sinusoidal REE patterns（＂W＂）,（7） garnets of megacryst paragenesis with normal REE patterns（＂Meg＂）.Detailed mineralogical and geochemical garnet studies and modeling results suggest several stages of mantle metasomatism influenced by carbonatite and silicate *** metasomatism at the first stage resulted in refertilization of the lithospheric mantle,which is evidenced by a nearly vertical CaO-Cr_2O_3 trend from harzburgitic（＂Hz＂） to lherzolitic（＂Lz 4＂） garnet *** garnets（＂Hz＂） have probably been formed by interactions between carbonatite melts and exsolved garnets in high-degree melt extraction *** the second stage of metasomatism,garnets with weakly sinusoidal REE patterns（＂Lz 3＂, ＂W＂） were affected by a silicate melt possessing a REE composition similar to that of ADP alkaline mica-poor *** the last stage,the garnets interacted with basaltic melts,which resulted in the decrease CaO-Cr_2O_3 trend of ＂Lz 2＂ garnet ***-poor garnets of megacryst paragenesis（＂Meg＂） could crystallize directly from the silicate melt which has a REE composition close to that of ADP alkaline mica-poor picrites.P-T estimates of the garnet xenocrysts indicate that the interval of-60-110 km of the lithospheric mantle beneath the *** pipe was predominantly affected by the silicate melts,wherea

This study presents the results of a research into the developing a methodology for assessing the adequacy of advanced electric power systems characterized by the integration of various innovative technologies,which complicates their *** methodology development is aimed at solving two main problems:(1)increase the adequacy of modeling the processes that occur in the electric power system and (2)enhance the computational efficiency of the adequacy assessment *** study proposes a new mathematical model to minimize the power shortage and enhance the adequacy of modeling the *** model considers quadratic power transmission losses and network *** computational efficiency of the adequacy assessment methodology is enhanced using efficient random-number generators to form the calculated states of electric power systems and machine learning methods to assess power shortages and other reliability characteristics in the calculated states.
