Paraphlomis is a genus of Lamiaceae with about 30 species distributed mainly in subtropical *** this study,we carried out the first molecular phylogenetic analyses to elucidate the relationships within the genus based on two nuclear and four plastid DNA *** results,which recovered a species of Matsumurella within Paraphlomis,indicate that the genus is not *** two sections and most of the series previously described within the genus are also shown to be *** with morphological evidence,our study indicates that nutlet morphology rather than calyx morphology is of phylogenetic value for the infrageneric classification of ***,***,a new species from southern China,is here described,and ***,formerly treated as a variety of ***,is here resurrected as a distinct species within the genus.

This paper proposes the current search (CS) metaheuristics conceptualized from the electric current flowing through electric networks for optimization problems with continuous design variables. The CS algorithm possesses two powerful strategies, exploration and exploitation, for searching the global optimum. Based on the stochastic process, the derivatives of the objective function is unnecessary for the proposed CS. To evaluate its performance, the CS is tested against several unconstrained optimization problems. The results obtained are compared to those obtained by the popular search techniques, i.e., the genetic algorithm (GA), the particle swarm optimization (PSO), and the adaptive tabu search (ATS). As results, the CS outperforms other algorithms and provides superior results. The CS is also applied to a constrained design of the optimum PID controller for the dc motor speed control system. From experimental results, the CS has been successfully applied to the speed control of the dc motor.

A community engagement project was designed and implemented to reach 10.6 million population in 13 districts of Uttarakhand state—India, to identify presumptive TB patients (PTBPs) and link to free diagnostics services, either through referral or sputum collection and transportation (SCT). The objective of this study is to determine additional yield of TB patients achieved by providing SCT services in comparison to referrals of PTBPs identified in hard-to-reach areas. This was before and after comparative study conducted between April-June 2014 (2Q2014-before) to July-September 2014 (3Q2014-after). SCT was advised for all PTBPs identified from community level interventions between July-September 2014 (3Q2014-after). In 3Q2014, additional 279 (34%) PTBPs were examined in the microscopy centre with an additional 36 (51%) new smear positive (NSP) patient diagnosed. A total of 46 NSP (128%) were contributed by SCT alone. Higher proportion (94%) of TB patients was initiated on treatment in 3Q2014 in comparison to 2Q2014 (91%). SCT as a strategy for early case detection in hard-to-reach difficult terrain yields positive results in comparison to mere referral of PTBPs.

Species diversity, regeneration and dominance as influenced by canopy gaps and their characteristics in tropical evergreen forests of Western Ghats, India

Canopy gaps play a significant role in maintaining structure and composition of tropical forests. This study was carried out in tropical evergreen forests of central Western Ghats in India to understand the influence of canopy gap size and the relationship of gap regime attributes to diversity measures and regeneration. The average gap size in the study area was found to be 396 m2 and around half of gaps were 4–8 years old. Gaps created by natural single tree fall were smaller in size but significantly higher in number. Diversity and regeneration of woody species were compared with canopy gaps and intact vegetation. Species richness and diversity was higher in gaps than in intact vegetation. Macaranga peltata, a shade intolerant species dominated gaps while intact vegetation was dominated by shade tolerant Kingiodendron *** size significantly influenced species diversity and regeneration. Gap area and age were significantly and negatively correlated with diversity measures but positively correlated with regeneration. Among all the attributes of gaps, regeneration was significantly positively correlated with light intensity. Gaps maintained species diversity and favored regeneration of woody species. In addition to gap size and age, other gap ecological attributes also affected species diversity and regeneration.

Application of Current Search to Optimum PIDA Controller Design

An application of the current search (CS), one of the most efficient metaheuristic optimization search techniques, to design the PIDA (proportional-integral-derivative-accelerated) controllers is proposed in this paper. The CS is applied to search for the optimum PIDA controller’s parameters. The obtained controllers are tested against nine benchmark systems collected by ?sstr?m and H?gglund considered as the hard-to-be-controlled plants and an automatic voltage regulator (AVR) system. As results, the optimum PIDA controllers can be successfully obtained by the CS and the responses of controlled systems are very satisfactory.

In 2017, the Trump administration formally articulated its vision for the Indo-Pacific strategy, replacing "asia-Pacific" with"Indo-Pacific"in policy papers and taking measures to promote the realization of an "Indo-Pacific dream". This represents a significant adjustment in US regional policies. An important power in the Indian Ocean region, India is perceived as key to the successful implementation of this Indo-Pacific strategy. Generally speaking, the current Indian government and strategy circle actively support the upgrading of the"Indo-Pacific"concept from a geographical and academic term to a US vision for foreign strategies, anticipating that India could garner significant strategic benefits from it. Given this, new Delhi will continually adapt its foreign policies to the US Indo-Pacific strategy and may even direct the development of the strategy to counter the Belt and Road Initiative, work with other nations to balance China's influence and finally make the rise of India as a great power a reality. Nonetheless, the Indo-pacific strategy is in its early stages, and the content is not completely pro-India currently. On top of this India is still skeptical of the US and will proceed cautiously, leaving room for maneuver in the future,fully tapping into the benefits of the Indo-Pacific strategy and avoiding direct confrontation with China.

Design optimization of a slotless PM brushless motor with helical edge wound laminations for rim driven thrusters

This paper discusses the analysis and design of a very thin slotless permanent magnet （PM） brushless motor whose stator laminations are manufactured from a single strip of steel that is edge wound into a spiral （like a ＂Slinky＂） and then fitted over the windings that are preformed on the outside surface of a non-conducting former. Analytical and finite element analysis （FEA） are used to determine the con- strained optimum dimensions of a motor used to drive a rim driven thruster in which the motor rotor is fit- ted onto the rim of the propeller and the stator is encapsulated in the thin Kort nozzle of the thruster. The paper describes the fabrication of a demonstrator motor and presents experimental results to validate the theoretical calculations. Experimental motor performance results are also reported and compared with those of a slotted motor that fits within the same active radial dimensions as the slotless motor. The slotless motor, which has longer active length and endwindings, and thicker magnets than the slotted motor, was found to be less efficient and more expensive （prototype cost） than the slotted machine.
