The advance of the Internet in the past decade has radically changed the way people communicate and col- laborate with each other. Physical distance is no more a barrier in online social networks, but cultural differences （at the individual, community, as well as societal levels） still govern human-human interactions and must be con- sidered and leveraged in the online world. The rapid deployment of high-speed lnternet allows humans to interact using a rich set of multimedia data such as texts, pictures, and videos. This position paper proposes to define a new research area called ＇connected multimedia＇, which is the study of a collection of research issues of the super-area social media that receive little attention in the literature. By connected multimedia, we mean the study of the social and technical interactions among users, multimedia data, and devices across cultures and explicitly exploiting the cultural differences. We justify why it is necessary to bring attention to this new research area and what benefits of this new research area may bring to the broader scientific research community and the humanity.

Based on the sensitive dependence on initial conditions and good auto-correlation of chaotic sequences,a method is proposed to increase the resolution of multiple-input multiple-output （MIMO） radar for multiple targets detection with chaotic *** waveform set can be generated by chaotic sequences from different initial *** is uncorrelated between auto-correlation sidelobes of different chaotic waveforms,at the same time,it is uncorrelated between cross-correlation of different chaotic waveforms ***,multiple pulse compression accumulation can help to reduce auto-correlation sidelobes and cross-correlation effects in MIMO radar effectively,the output has low peak sidelobe value and the resolution of multiple targets detection is ***,simulation results show the effectiveness of this method.

A novel robust watermarking scheme based on image connectivity is proposed. In the scheme, the connected objects are obtained according to selected connectivity pattern, and the gravity centers are calculated in several bigger objects as the reference points for watermark embedding. Based on these reference points and the center of the whole image, several sectors are formed, and the same version of watermarks is embedded into these sectors and their opposites. Thanks to the very stable gravity center of the connected objects, watermark detection is synchronized successfully. Simulation results show that the watermark can survive under both local and global geometrical distortions.

A fuzzy requirement based strategy for QoS service in broadband networks was presented. With the analysis of QoS service in ATM networks and broadband IP networks, it gave a requirement based strategy for QoS service application with Fuzzy language evaluation principles. The requirement parameters are chosen according to the WANT/COST rule, and a fuzzy set is constructed to realize the fuzzy determinant. The simulation results show that it is useful to evaluate the QoS service in broadband networks, and to effectively simplify the access protocols and solve the billing issues in broadband networks.

The rapid increase of wireless networks and mobile computing applications has changed the landscape of networks security. The traditional way to protect networks with firewalls and encryption software is no longer sufficient and effective. We need to search for new techniques to protect the wireless networks and mobile computing application. In this paper, we introduce the demands of ad-hoc environment. We focus on two areas of ad-hoc networks, wireless firewall and wireless intrusion detection. Furthermore, we particularly analyze the architecture, the problems and the challenges of current IDS techniques for wireless ad-hoc networks.

Least squares support vector machine （LS-SVM） is applied in gas path fault diagnosis for aero engines. Firstly, the deviation data of engine cruise are analyzed. Then, model selection is conducted using pattern search method. Finally, by decoding aircraft communication addressing and reporting system （ACARS） report, a real-time cruise data set is acquired, and the diagnosis model is adopted to process data. In contrast to the radial basis function （RBF） neutral network, LS-SVM is more suitable for real-time diagnosis of gas turbine engine.

This paper presents a 10-bit 20 MS/s pipelined Analog-to- digital Converter（ADC） using op amp sharing approach and removing Sample and Hold Amplifier（SHA） or SHA-less technique to reach the goal of low-power constanpfion. This design was fabricated in TSMC 0.18 wn 1P6M technology. Measurement results show at supply voltage of 1.8 V, a SFDR of 42.46 dB, a SNDR of 39.45 dB, an ENOB of 6.26, and a THDof41.82 dB are at 1 MHz sinusoidal sig- nal input. In addition, the DNL and INL are 1.4 LSB and 3.23 LSB respectively. The power onstmaption is 28.8 mW. The core area is 0.595 mm2 and the chip area including pads is 1.468 mm2.
