AIM:To investigate the impact of MK-801 on gene expression patterns genome wide in rat brain regions. METHODS:Rats were treated with an intraperitoneal injection of MK-801 [0.08(low-dose) and 0.16(highdose) mg/kg] or NaC l(vehicle control). In a first series of experiment,the frontoparietal electrocorticogram was recorded 15 min before and 60 min after injection. In a second series of experiments,the whole brain of each animal was rapidly removed at 40 min post-injection,and different regions were separated:amygdala,cerebral cortex,hippocampus,hypothalamus,midbrain and ventral striatum on ice followed by DNA microarray(4 × 44 K whole rat genome chip) ***:Spectral analysis revealed that a single systemic injection of MK-801 significantly and selectively augmented the power of baseline gamma frequency(30-80 Hz) oscillations in the frontoparietal electroencephalogram. DNA microarray analysis showed the largest number(up- and down- regulations) of gene expressions in the cerebral cortex(378),midbrain(376),hippocampus(375),ventral striatum(353),amygdala(301),and hypothalamus(201) under low-dose(0.08 mg/kg) of MK-801. Under high-dose(0.16 mg/kg),ventral striatum(811) showed the largest number of gene expression changes. Gene expression changes were functionally categorized to reveal expression of genes and function varies with each brain ***:Acute MK-801 treatment increases synchrony of baseline gamma oscillations,and causes very early changes in gene expressions in six individual rat brain regions,a first report.

India and China have been cooperating with each other at the climate change negotiations since the inception of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change(UNFCCC) in *** paper makes a case that although the road has not been very smooth and has not been free of differences,the two powers have been at the forefront of decision-making in global climate governance and in this exercise,and cooperation has been more prominent than competition or *** paper analyzes the goals and positions of India at the negotiations within the larger framework of the North-South conflict and South-South *** it is the Common but Differentiated Responsibilities(CBDR) or the bottom-up approach toward climate change mitigation,concerns expressed by both countries have largely been similar,especially since they have championed the cause of equity and climate justice for safeguarding the developing countries’ right to *** paper explains the manner in which India and China have played an influential role in shaping the technicalities and modalities of various climate mechanisms in the context of their relations with the other developing and least developed countries(LDCs).The paper argues that by building more South-South cooperation mechanisms related to climate change issues,India and China can bring about a just and equitable global climate order that assists developing and LDCs in tackling climate change that affects them most.

At present, trade protectionism and economic populism are surging in the United States, with the Trump administration believing that the World Trade organization (WTO) must end the “prejudice” against the US. By making threats and imposing pressure, focusing on plurilateral negotiations, leading the design of next-generation multilateral trade rules, coordinating positions with major allies, and confronting China with extreme attitudes, the US has been promoting WTO reform under the concept of “no construction without destruction,” in order to reshape the international economic and trade rules that maintain US hegemony and “Make America Great Again.” This self-serving practice, with the intention to regain dominance over the changes in global economic governance, is bound to erode the multilateral free trade system, dealing an unprecedented blow to the WTO and spreading inter-state economic and trade competition from bilateral to multilateral fields. The US determination to change the status quo, however, has also become the driving force of WTO reform. Despite highly diverse positions toward the reform, most countries appear to have a general consensus as to how the WTO is to survive: China and the United States must resolve their differences in order to assist WTO reform and achieve win-win results.

This article describes recent advances in the capability of new satellite sensors for observing Tropical Cyclones(TC)fine structure,wind field,and temporal *** article is based on a World Meteorological organization(WMO)report prepared for the 10th international Workshop on Tropical Cyclones(IWTC),held in Bali in December 2022,and its objective is to present updates in TC research and operation every four *** we focus on updates regarding the most recent space-based TC observations,and we cover new methodologies and techniques using polar orbiting sensors,such as C-band synthetic aperture radars(SARs),L-band and combined C/X-band radiometers,scatterometers,and microwave imagers/*** additionally address progress made with the new generation of geostationary and small satellites,and discuss future sensors planned to be launched in the next *** then briefly describe some examples on how the newest sensors are used in operations and data assimilation for TC forecasting and research,and conclude the article with a discussion on the remaining challenges of TC space-based observations and possible ways to address them in the near future.

Agro-ecological conditions associated with the spread and persistence of highly pathogenic avian inlfuenza （HPAI） are not well understood, but the trade of live poultry is suspected to be a major pathway. Although market chains of live bird trade have been studied through indirect means including interviews and questionnaires, direct methods have not been used to identify movements of individual poultry. To bridge the knowledge gap on quantitative movement and transportation of poultry, we introduced a novel approach for applying telemetry to document domestic duck movements from source farms at Poyang Lake, China. We deployed recently developed transmitters that record global Positioning System （GPS） locations and send them through the Groupe Spécial Mobile （GSM） cellular telephone system. For the ifrst time, we were able to track individually marked ducks from 3 to 396 km from their origin to other farms, distribution facilities, or live bird markets. Our proof of concept test showed that the use of GPS-GSM transmitters may provide di-rect, quantitative information to document the movement of poultry and reveal their market chains. Our ifndings provide an initial indication of the complexity of source-market network connectivity and highlight the great potential for future telemetry studies in poultry network analyses.

The evolution and integration of ports in global logistics chains has altered their traditional role while has initiated restructuring processes in many ports worldwide. While most of the research addresses this issue by highlighting the need for re-positioning and redefining the role of the port within the supply chains, not much attention has been given to the structure, scope and reach as well as to the tools of regulation hat competent authorities could exploit in order to avert potential abusive actions of global powerful actors along the containerized transport chain, that would affect the competitive functioning of distinct segment or the integrity of supply chains. In this context, we propose the reconceptualization and reinforcement of the regulatory governance structures of ports on a national and international level as well as the extension of the scope of ports’ regulations along the supply chain to counterbalance the globalization, consolidation and integration of containerized transport actors.

The detection of wheat heads in plant images is an important task for estimating pertinent wheat traits including head population density and head characteristics such as health,size,maturity stage,and the presence of *** studies have developed methods for wheat head detection from high-resolution RGB imagery based on machine learning ***,these methods have generally been calibrated and validated on limited *** variability in observational conditions,genotypic differences,development stages,and head orientation makes wheat head detection a challenge for computer ***,possible blurring due to motion or wind and overlap between heads for dense populations make this task even more *** a joint international collaborative effort,we have built a large,diverse,and well-labelled dataset of wheat images,called the global Wheat Head Detection(GWHD)*** contains 4700 high-resolution RGB images and 190000 labelled wheat heads collected from several countries around the world at different growth stages with a wide range of *** for image acquisition,associating minimum metadata to respect FAIR principles,and consistent head labelling methods are proposed when developing new head detection *** GWHD dataset is publicly available at http://***/and aimed at developing and benchmarking methods for wheat head detection.
