Modeling and Optimization of two Clays Acidic Activation for Phosphate Ions Removal in Aqueous Solution by Response Surface Methodology

this work deals with phosphate ions removal in aqueous solution by adsorption carried out using two clays, both in activated form. One, non-swelling clay, rich in kaolinite, is associated with illite and quartz. the other, swelling, richer in montmorillonite, is associated with kaolinite, illite and quartz. Seven factors including these two clays were taken into account in a series of experimental designs in order to model and optimize the acidic activation process favoring a better phosphate removal. In addition to the choice of clay nature, the study was also interested in the identification of the mineral acid, between hydrochloric acid and sulfuric acid, which would promote this acidic activation. Response Surface Methodology (RSM) was used for this purpose by sequentially applying Plackett and burman Design and Full Factorial Design (FD) for screening. then, a central composite design (CCD) was used for modeling the activation process. A mathematical surface model has been successfully established. thus, the best acidic activation conditions were obtained by activating the montmorillonite clay with a 2N sulfuric acid solution, in an acid/clay mass ratio of 7.5 at 100°C for 16h. the phosphate removal maximum rate obtained was estimated at 89.32% ± 0.86%.

the vanadium redox flow battery(VRFb)has been receiving great attention in recent years as one of the most viable energy storage technologies for large-scale ***,higher concentrations of vanadium species are required in the h_(2)O-h_(2)SO_(4) electrolyte in order to improve the VRFb energy *** might lead to unwanted precipitation of vanadium compounds,whose nature has not been accurately characterized *** this purpose,this study reports the preparation ofⅤ^((Ⅱ)),ⅤV^((Ⅲ)),Ⅴ^((Ⅳ))andⅤ^((Ⅴ))supersaturated solutions in a 5 M h_(2)SO_(4)-h_(2)O electrolyte by an electrolytic method,from the only vanadium sulfate compound commercially available(VOSO_(4)).the precipitates obtained by ageing of the stirred solutions are representative of the solids that may form in a VRFb operated with such supersaturated *** solid phases are identified using thermogravimetric analysis,X-ray diffraction and *** report that dissolvedⅤ^((Ⅱ)),Ⅴ^((Ⅲ))andⅤ^((Ⅳ))species precipitate as crystals of VSO_(4),V_(2)(SO_(4))3 and VOSO_(4) hydrates and not in their anhydrous form;conversely V^((Ⅴ))precipitates as an amorphous V_(2) O_(5) oxide partially *** measured hydration degrees(respectively 1.5,9,3 and 0.26 mol of h_(2)O per mol of compound)might significantly affect the overall engineering of VRFb operating with high vanadium concentrations.

this work is a contribution of theoretical chemistry to the classification of some non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Indeed, research on the efficacy of NSAIDs has shown that no NSAID is recognized as the most efficient anti-inflammatory drug. We have made a theoretical study of diclofenac, bromfenac and amfenac, in order to compare their efficacy from some physicochemical properties. to do this, we used the DFt and tD-DtF methods at the b3LYP/6-311+G(d, p) level theory. the lipophilicity study shows that diclofenac and bromfenac are very lipophilic. Acidity study shows that diclofenac is more acid than bromfenac and amfenac. the results from molecular orbital and the tD-DFt calculations reveal that for the three NSAIDs, the lowest energy transition is due to the excitation from hOMO to LUMO. the absorption energy corresponding to h→L transition is comparable with the energy gap value. Our findings have shown that bromfenac is more reactive than amfenac, which is more reactive than diclofenac.

Physiographic differences and conditions of use of water resources in anthropogenic basins explain the variability of risk to surface water. based on the multi-criteria analysis of Saaty, the present work proposes an assessment of the vulnerability of surface water through a three-factor accessibility index: the slope, the subdivision rate and the drainage density of the basin. It is observed that the topographic (slope) and urbanistic (subdivision) conditions are the most important (weighting of 59%, 34%) in front of the hydrographic condition (drainage 6%) with an overall consistency of 2%. thus, in the Okpara basin in the city of Parakou, the analysis of the vulnerability of surface waters by the accessibility index highlights two groups. the Ganré and Kokouro basins with about 30% of their areas in the low and moderate classes and the Wonka and Dama basins in the very strong class at more than 50% of their areas.

the paddy rice degradation remains a concern for research;the chemical phenomena underlying this process persists unknown. this research aims to identify the mechanism of starch degradation. It determines the nature of the reactions between two, three and four synthons of amylose with oryzenin using theoretical methods. the ONIOM (DFt/b3LYP/6 - 31 + G(d, p): AM1) level of theory is performed on four monomers and eight complexes. Frequencies make it possible to obtain energy and spectroscopic quantities. Calculations after geometry optimization. Following this, a “single point” allows exploiting the “Natural bond Orbital (NbO)” analysis. the first three parameters suggest that the main interactions between oryzenin and amylose arise through O29-h30…O46 hydrogen bonds (hb). Furthermore, this result posits that the length of the amylose doesn’t influence this reaction. the NbO analysis shows that this component of starch degrades first at the end of the chain to produce monosaccharides;it can also alter in the middle of the chain to give disaccharides.

Catechin and epicatechin are two isomeric flavonoids. Despite the vital properties highlighted by numerous scientific studies, very little data is available on the intrinsic reactivity of these compounds. to provide more details on the stability and reactivity of catechin and epicatechin, this study is performed by means of theoretical calculation methods. For this purpose, geometry optimizations and frequency calculations at the b3LYP/6-31 + G (d, p) level of theory has been carried out and Natural bond Orbital (NbO) analysis and VEDA (Vibrational Energy Distribution Analysis). the geometric and energy parameters and NbO analysis show that catechin appears more stable than epicatechin. the hydroxyl group position on the ring C of the catechol structure represents a factor that influences this relative stability. the global and local reactivity parameters reveal that epicatechin becomes more reactive than catechin. they indicate that their hydroxyl groups correspond to their most receptive sites. Fukui indices, VEDA and acidity study establish that O28–h29 remains the most reactive.

A systematic study was carried out to assess the level of contamination with fluorides and heavy metals in the drinking water of the city of Daloa as well as the risks to the health of consumers. the waters of 11.11% of the sites sampled exceeded the fluoride limit for drinking water with a contamination index (CI) greater than 0. All the waters recorded concentrations of cadmium (Cd), copper (Cu), iron (Fe), manganese (Mn) and lead (Pb) above the recommended values with CI > 0. however, 22.22% of the sites recorded concentrations below the standard for zinc (Zn) with IC the assessment of adverse effects on human health showed that the chronic daily intake (CDI) of fluorine and metals was less than 1 (CDI both adults and children except for Zn where the CDI > 1 for children in 22.22% of drinking water studied. hQs have an average of less than 1 for fluorine and greater than 1 for all metals. Moreover, the danger indices have values greater than 1. the incremental lifetime cancer risk (ILCR) and the total ILCR are above the recommended values. these results showed that the drinking water sampled is of poor quality due to higher levels of heavy metals, which can constitute a danger to human health. Long-term use of one of these poor quality waters can lead to cancer in consumers. It is therefore necessary to treat this water in order to eliminate the metals before using it for drinking. this study can help decision-makers and competent authorities in charge of water management.

In Côte d’Ivoire, the recurring and unregulated use of bushfires, which cause ecological damage, presents a pressing concern for the custodians of protected areas. this study aims to enhance our comprehension of the dynamics of burnt areas within the Abokouamékro Wildlife Reserve (AWR) by employing the analysis of spectral indices derived from satellite imagery. the research methodology began with the calculation of mean indices and their corresponding spectral sub-indices, including NDVI, SAVI, NDWI, NDMI, bAI, NbR, tCW, tCG, and tCb, utilizing data from the Sentinel-2A satellite image dated January 17, 2022. Subsequently, a fuzzy classification model was applied to these various indices and sub-indices, guided by the degree of membership α, with the goal of effectively distinguishing between burned and unburned areas. Following the classification, the accuracies of the classified indices and sub-indices were validated using the coordinates of 100 data points collected within the AWR through GPS technology. the results revealed that the overall accuracy of all indices and sub-indices declines as the degree of membership α decreases from 1 to 0. Among the mean spectral indices, NDVI-mean, SAVI-mean, NDMI-mean exhibited the highest overall accuracies, achieving 97%, 95%, and 90%, respectively. these results closely mirrored those obtained by sub-indices using band 8 (NDVI-b8, SAVI-b8, and NDMI-b8), which yield respective overall accuracies of 93%, 92%, and 89%. At a degree of membership α = 1, the estimated burned areas for the most effective indices encompassed 2144.38 hectares for NDVI-mean, 1932.14 hectares for mean SAVI-mean, and 4947.13 hectares for mean NDMI-mean. A prospective approach involving the amalgamation of these three indices could have the potential to yield improved outcomes. this study could be a substantial contribution to the discrimination of bushfires in Côte d’Ivoire.

the yields of photonuclear reactions in the 107Ag,113In,and 115In nuclei were *** Carlo simulations were performed using the Geant4 code,and the results were compared with the experimental *** isomeric ratios of the yields in the reactions 107Ag(γ,n)106m,gAg and 113In(γ,m)112m,gIn were determined,and the cross sections for the reactions 107Ag(γ,n)106gAg and 107Ag(γ,2n)105Ag at an energy of 20 MeV were calculated based on the experimental data.
