tyle="text-align:justify;"> Pathologies transmissible by hand such as gastrointestinal pathologies constitute a real public health problem, especially in sub-Saharan Africa where hygienic conditions are precarious. This study took place at Félix Houphouët-Boigny University from April to August 2018. The samples were taken from toilet surfaces such as doorknobs, tap heads, flush push buttons and seats WC. A total of three hundred and sixty-eight (368) samples were obtained, including 170 from the staff toilets and 198 from the student toilets. The results revealed the presence of total coliforms, Escherichia spp and Salmonella spp. The surfaces of student toilets were the most contaminated surfaces. The presence of entero-bacteria on the contact surfaces of the toilets of the Félix Houphouët-Boigny university represents a health risk for the university population.

Although the Gouro women producing foodstuffs in the department of Gohitafla claim to be in a double dynamics of precariousness and social weakening,they incur ostentatious expenses during funeral *** understand this paradox,this text,based on interviews and participating observation,makes a detailed description of the financial involvement of these women in funeral practices in order to reveal its *** results show that the ostentatious nature of female funeral expenses related to the transfer of the body,compensation and honorary practices are strategies for identity reconstruction and negotiation of political citizenship for those women.

A study of the factors affecting mobile money penetration rates in the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU) compared with East Africa

According to the 2017 Global Financial Inclusion(Global Findex)database,the average penetration rate of mobile money accounts in East Africa is higher than that of the *** study attempts to understand the factors driving the adoption and the use of mobile financial services in the WAEMU compared to East *** achieve this,micro-level data from the 2017 Global Findex database are used to perform probit and multinomial logit *** findings reveal that the same determinants influence the adoption and use of mobile money accounts across the populations of both groups of countries,specifically those related to the least vulnerable social categories(i.e.,males,older,more educated,richer and part of the workforce).therefore,in comparison to East Africa,the delay in the penetration of mobile money accounts observed in the WAEMU may be attributed to insufficient policies for increasing the awareness of the benefits of mobile financial *** study recommends that governments in WAEMU countries promote the use of mobile money accounts among the working-age population(adults aged between 25 and 64)through the improvement of individual income level,and the introduction of incentives into the education system to encourage their population to attain higher levels of education.

the urban environment is confronted with recurring calamities including floods, landslides and forced escapes of populations during periods of rain. In Côte d’Ivoire, the municipalities of Abobo and Attécoubé suffered enormous material and human damage following the torrential rains of 2014. these urbanized areas are built on large plateaus bordered by thalwegs where 61% of these areas have no drainage network, thus facing a lack of sanitation. Moreover, topographical, rainfall, anthropogenic and technical conditions are factors explaining the occurrence of natural disasters and their consequences in the said communes. the objective of this article is to assess the socio-economic impact of the occurrence of hazards. It focuses on the identification of risk sectors in the municipalities of Abobo and Attécoubé and the material, human and economic consequences that result from rain accidents.

Men Urethra Strictures: Findings in Urethroplasties Care at the Andrology and Urology Department of Grand Yoff General Hospital in Dakar

Objectives: to report the experiment conducted at the HOGGY Urology department in the management of urethral stricture by urethroplasty, and to determine the factors that influence the results. Material and Method: We conducted a descriptive and analytical retrospective study based on the records of patients who underwent urethroplasty in the department, between February 2001 and September 2013. Results: Ninety-one (91) patients were enrolled. Urethroplasties prevalence was 0.83% of the surgical activity of the service. the mean age of patients was 39.83 years. Dysuria (30.77%) followed by pelvic trauma (28.57%) and urinary retentions (25.27%) was the main discovery mode. A periurethral coating was found in 32 patients. the infectious etiology accounted for 44% of cases. In 63% of cases, diagnostic was made by retrograde cystography. the penile urethra was the favorite seat of the UR in 70% of cases. the average length of the urethral stricture (US) was less than 1 cm in 41.17% of cases. the US was unique in more than half of the cases (58.33%). Anastomotic urethroplasty was the best surgical technique with 73.63% of patients. Postoperative morbidity involved 47 patients and was dominated by urinary infections (36 year old). the average duration of follow-up of operated patients was 29 months. After 6 months of follow-up, the best results were obtained with the termino-terminal urethroplasty technique with 62.5%. After a follow-up of 4 years, the success rate was 58.24%. the length of the stenosis and the allocation of gestures on the urethra were the two factors of failure. Conclusion: Stenosis is common in our regions. treatment results are disappointing. Urethroplasty is the gold standard of surgical treatment and anastomotic urethroplasty gives better results.

Assessing the impact of climate change(CC)on agricultural production systems is mainly done using crop models associated with climate model *** review is one of the few,with the main objective of providing a recent compendium of CC impact studies on irrigation needs and rice yields for a better understanding and use of climate and crop *** discuss the strengths and weaknesses of climate impact studies on agricultural production systems,with a particular focus on uncertainty and sensitivity analyses of crop *** the new generation global climate models(GCMs)are more robust than previous ones,there is still a need to consider the effect of climate uncertainty on estimates when using *** GCMs cannot directly simulate the agro-climatic variables of interest for future irrigation assessment,hence the use of intelligent climate ***,sensitivity and uncertainty analyses must be applied to crop models,especially for their calibration under different *** impacts of CC on irrigation needs and rice yields vary across regions,seasons,varieties and crop ***,integrated assessments,the use of remote sensing data,climate smart tools,CO_(2)enrichment experiments,consideration of changing crop management practices and multi-scale crop modeling,seem to be the approaches to be pursued for future climate impact assessments for agricultural systems。

Neurobiology of Neuronal Network Alteration in Intellectual Disability Related to Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders

the molecular and cellular mechanisms by which alcohol produces its deleterious effects on neuronal networks are only now beginning to be understood. this review focused on alcohol-induced neurobiological alterations on neuronal network components underlying information processing, for further understanding of intellectual disability related to FASD. Abnormal neurodevelopmental events related to alcohol-damaged fetal brain included neurogenesis inhibition, aberrant migration, impaired differentiation, exacerbated apoptosis, impaired axon outgrowth and branching altering synaptogenesis and synaptic plasticity, abnormal GABAergic interneurons triggering synaptic inhibitory/excitatory imbalance, reduced myelinogenesis causing injured white matter in prefrontal lobe and atrophied corpus callosum compromising interhemispheric information transfer, the whole compromising neuronal network scaffolding which may lead to biased information processing with deficits in executive function. What added to these abnormalities are smaller gray matter and reduced hippocampus, resulting in cognition and memory failures. As a whole, these developmental disorders may underlie intellectual disability related to FASD. In rodents, these neuronal network components matured mainly during the second and third trimesters equivalents of human gestation. transferability of results from animal to human was also discussed. It was hoped that the understanding of alcohol-induced neuronal networks failure mechanisms during the developing brain may lay a foundation for prospective new treatments and interventions.

Effects of Ovariectomy and 17<i>β</i>-Estradiol Replacement on Dopamine D2 Receptors in Female Rats: Consequences on Sucrose, Alcohol, Water Intakes and Body Weight

Background: Mechanisms underlying overeating-induced obesity in post-menopausal woman include functional lack of 17β-estradiol dysregulating dopamine D2 receptors, thereby inducing food addiction, glucose craving or alcohol dependence through reward circuitry. this study aimed at further understanding 17β-estradiol and dopamine D2 receptors interferences in the etiology of woman obesity. Method: Seventy-two Wistar female rats weighing 200 - 205 g, individually-housed, were divided into non-ovariectomized control (C = 6 groups) and ovariectomized rats (OVX = 6 groups) which were concurrently subjected to the following treatments: Non-drug-treated (DMSO vehicle), 17β-estradiol (E2, 5 μg/kg, s.c.), sulpiride (SUL, 20 mg/kg, i.p.), bromocriptine (BR, 0.1 mg/kg, i.p.), E2 + SUL or E2 + BR, designating the 6 constitutive groups of either control or ovariectomy. Within each experimental group, consumption of different solutions (10% alcohol, 10% sucrose and water) as well as food intake and body weight were daily measured, for 10 consecutive days. Results: this study indicated that D2S was a specific inducer of alcohol and food intakes, but reduced sugar consumption. In addition, 17β- estradiol regulated the body weight set point, modulating D2S functions towards increased food intake at lower weights and decreased food intake at higher weights. D2S met the slow genomic actions induced by 17β-estradiol. Conversely, D2L inhibited alcohol and food intakes, but induced specifically sugar consumption, thereby regulating blood glucose levels and promoting energy expenditure in reducing body weight. Indeed, 17β-estradiol exerted a tonic inhibition on D2L which was released by OVX, exacerbating sugar intake and increasing body weight. D2L mediated the rapid metabolic effects of 17β-estradiol.
