Changes of nutrients and microbial communities in recovery process of abandoned rare earth tailings

Rare earth element（REE） mining has wrought severe ecosystem destruction, particularly in the loss of carbon（C）, nitrogen（N）, and phosphorus（P）.Furthermore, its effects on nutrient recovery characteristics and associated microbial abundance are still poorly understood. In this study, an investigation was conducted to determine C, N, and P recovery patterns and microbial communities in abandoned REE mining tailings with different abandoned durations of 1.5（1.5-Y）, 7（7-Y）, 10（10-Y）, and 14（14-Y） years and at an unmined site（the control group） in Jiangxi Province, China. Longitudinal tailing delamination at each site was investigated in 0–15（layer 1） and 15–30（layer 2） cm tailing layers. During the abandoned duration of REE tailings, C and P in layer 1continued to recover from 1.62 to 8.51 g kg-1and from 0.71 to 1.94 g kg-1, respectively; N losses of 0.60 and 0.22 g kg-1occurred at the 1.5-Y and 10-Y sites, while N in layer 1 slightly increased at the 14-Y site. Mesorhizobium, Methylosinus, Bradyrhizobium, Pseudomonas, and Azospirillum were dominant bacteria at the 14-Y site and in the control. The relative abundances of N-fixing bacteria Mesorhizobium（32.94%）, Sinorhizobium（0.24%）, Frankia（0.71%）,and Burkholderia（2.38%） at the 14-Y site were 1.33–3.97 times those in the control（24.19%, 0.18%, 0.32% and 0.60%, respectively）, which was helpful for tailing N recovery. At the 14-Y site, Tylospora（50.24%）, Luellia（11.02%）, Tomentella（6.94%）, and Chaetomium（4.34%） were the dominant fungal genera, while Tylospora（56.93%）, Suillus（11.45%）, and Penicillium（6.78%） predominated in the control. The relative abundance of the P-dissolving fungus Aspergillus at the 14-Y site（0.42%） was 4.2 times that in the control（0.1%）, which may lead to the improved tailing P solubility. At the 14-Y site, woody plants such as Pinus massoniana and native pioneering herbs and ferns such as Dicranopteris dichotoma and Nephrolepis auriculata probably invaded from adjacent areas. Facile intercalation of alkali ions in WO_(3)for modulated electronic and optical properties:Implications for artificial synapses and chromogenic application

Observation of gapless corner modes of photonic crystal slabs in synthetic translation dimensions

Background:The goal of the assisted reproductive treatment is to transfer one euploid blastocyst and to help infertile women giving birth one healthy *** algorithms have been used to assess the ploidy status of embryos derived from couples with normal chromosome,who subjected to preimplantation genetic testing for aneuploidy(PGT-A)***,it is currently unknown whether artificial intelligence model can be used to assess the euploidy status of blastocyst derived from populations with chromosomal ***:From February 2020 to May 2021,we collected the whole raw time-lapse videos at multiple focal planes from in vitro cultured embryos,the clinical information of couples,and the comprehensive chromosome screening results of those blastocysts that had received PGT ***,we developed a novel deep learning model called the Attentive Multi-Focus Selection Network(AMSNet)to analyze time-lapse videos in real time and predict blastocyst *** upon AMSNet,we integrated additional clinically predictive variables and created a second deep learning model,the Attentive Multi-Focus Video and Clinical Information Fusion Network(AMCFNet),to assess the euploidy status of *** efficacy of the AMCFNet was further tested in embryos with parental chromosomal *** receiver operating characteristic curve(ROC)was used to evaluate the superiority of the ***:A total of 4112 embryos with complete time-lapse videos were enrolled for the blastocyst formation prediction task,and 1422 qualified blastocysts received PGT-A(n=589)or PGT for chromosomal structural rearrangement(PGT-SR,n=833)were enrolled for the euploidy assessment task in this *** AMSNet model using seven focal raw time-lapse videos has the best real-time *** real-time accuracy for AMSNet to predict blastocyst formation reached above 70%on the day 2 of embryo culture,and then increased to 80%on the day 4 of embryo ***

An improved algorithm for retrieving thin sea ice thickness in the Arctic Ocean from SMOS and SMAP L-band radiometer data

The aim of this study was to develop an improved thin sea ice thickness(SIT)retrieval algorithm in the Arctic Ocean from the Soil Moisture Ocean Salinity and Soil Moisture Active Passive L-band radiometer *** SIT retrieval algorithm was trained using the simulated SIT from the cumulative freezing degree days model during the freeze-up period over five carefully selected regions in the Beaufort,Chukchi,East Siberian,Laptev and Kara seas and utilized the microwave polarization ratio(PR)at incidence angle of 40°.The improvements of the proposed retrieval algorithm include the correction for the sea ice concentration impact,reliable reference SIT data over different representative regions of the Arctic Ocean and the utilization of microwave polarization ratio that is independent of ice *** relationship between the SIT and PR was found to be almost stable across the five selected *** SIT retrievals were then compared to other two existing algorithms(i.e.,UH_SIT from the university of Hamburg and UB_SIT from the university of Bremen)and validated against independent SIT data obtained from moored upward looking sonars(ULS)and airborne electromagnetic(EM)induction *** results suggest that the proposed algorithm could achieve comparable accuracies to UH_SIT and UB_SIT with root mean square error(RMSE)being about 0.20 m when validating using ULS SIT data and outperformed the UH_SIT and UB_SIT with RMSE being about 0.21 m when validatng using EM SIT *** proposed algorithm can be used for thin sea ice thickness(<1.0 m)estimation in the Arctic Ocean and requires less auxiliary data in the SIT retrieval procedure which makes its implementation more practical.

Climate change is a global *** is only possible to pace down global change through addressing the triggers of it,greenhouse gas *** commendable progress,we think that there is plenty of room to further make the studies addressing global change realistic,through integrating into them biotic *** make a case for this statement through a bibliometrics analysis on agricultural studies exploring greenhouse gas emissions that consider arbuscular *** show that even though mycorrhizal studies account right now for a small fraction of the agricultural literature,they get cited more *** further demonstrate that mycorrhizal studies are typically more descriptive in their nature,which we support through comparing the keywords they *** subsequently use the opportunity to identify shortcomings and opportunities to further integrate mycorrhiza into agricultural studies assaying greenhouse gas *** finally make a call to better integrate arbuscular mycorrhiza into global change studies.
