In the past two decades, the oxy-fuel combustion of pulverized coal has been extensively developed, leading to the completion of several large industrial pilot oxy-fuel plants worldwide. Various types of oxy-fuel burners have been designed and tested in largescale pilot plants as key components of oxy-fuel combustion. These burners face major challenges in terms of their flame stability because of their decreasing stream momentum ratio and increasing carbon dioxide concentration. However, it offers flexibility in adjusting the oxygen concentration in each burner stream. This study aims to provide a comprehensive review of the state-of-the-art knowledge on oxy-coal burner design and operation in power plants. First, the combustion characteristics under oxy-fuel conditions are briefly introduced. Subsequently, the principal requirements and fundamental parameters of the oxy-coal burners are discussed. The development process of oxy-fuel burners is also presented. Moreover, a compatible design strategy and scaling-up techniques are described for oxy-coal burners developed by the authors over the past ten years. The performances of oxy-coal burners in three large pilot oxy-fuel plants worldwide are summarized and compared. Finally, concluding remarks are provided and potential research needs are suggested.

The industrial application of an exterior three-layer anticorrosive polypropylene coating system(3PP)on large-diameter(larger than Φ600 mm)steel pipes was developed using an experimental process simulation study and the optimization of raw materials inspection,steel pipe surface pretreatments,and water cooling control on a coating application *** coating properties meet ISO standard 21809 on buried or submerged 3PP pipelines used in the petroleum and natural gas *** scanning calorimetry and X-ray diffraction were used to analyze the crystallinities and grain sizes of polypropylene(PP)top coats with different cooling *** the melt cooling rate reduces the crystallinity and grain size of the PP top coat and enhances its strength and toughness.

As an industry-university cooperative project, an experimental research was conducted to develop a new cold-rolled transformation-induced plasticity （TRIP） steel with a tensile strength of 780 MPa and an elongation of 25% under the conditions that some processing parameters were preestablished according to the actual conditions of factory production lines. The optimal heat treatment conditions for obtaining excellent strength-ductility balance, specifically in intercritical annealing temperature and isothermal treatment temperature, were investigated by means of thermal simulation tests. Ultimately the desirable mechanical properties were attained successfully, and the microstructure and retained austenite stability were studied by optical microscopy （OM） and electron back-scattered diffraction （EBSD）. It has been discovered that the sizes of retained austenite grains are generally proportional to the sizes of carbon-clear space （ferrite and bainite） around them, and there is marked selectivity in their transition sequences under stress-strain.

Overview of research and development of nearly zero energy buildings in China

In recent years,the promotion of nearly zero-energy buildings(NZEBs) in China has emerged as a crucial step for the building industry in shifting towards a green and low-carbon *** from scratch,the development of NZEBs in China has included the application and fundamental research,the compilation of national and local standards,and the rapid emergence of projects encompassing 23.89 million square meters *** efforts have yielded preliminary results in national standards,technology systems,technical roadmaps,and large-scale project ***,challenges,including further reducing incremental costs,developing industries for retrotitting existing buildings into NZEBs,and expanding the range of policy incentives,remain to be *** article provides an overview of the last decade's progress in NZEBs in China,covering key technological research,policy development,engineering demonstrations,and the current industrial development ***,the prospects of the NZEB industry are discussed.

Contagious pathogens like COVID-19 transmitted via respiratory droplets spread effortlessly in the passenger compartments of transport,significantly jeopardizing passengers’safety when taking public *** date,studies on the fundamental theories of airborne droplet transmission and the engineering application of decontamination techniques are insufficient for the prevention and control of pathogens transmitting in the compartments of passenger *** is essential to systematically investigate the control approaches to restrain pathogens from transmitting in passenger ***,a theoretical framework for calculating the transmission of pathogens in a complex compartment environment was proposed,and experimental platforms that satisfy the Biosafety Level-2 Laboratory safety level for compartment environment simulations were built based on a set of real train *** these bases,numerical investigations on the motion of pathogen-laden droplets were conducted,and decontamination techniques were examined ***,control measures on the pathogen transmission and pathogen decontamination schemes were ***,highly efficient decontamination devices were developed,and coping strategies for epidemic emergencies were *** outcomes provide theoretical and technical support for developing the next generation of transportation and the prevention and control measures cooperatively considering regular and pandemic times.

research and development of Rare Earth Advanced Materials in China

China is rich in resources of rare earths(REs). Based on tremendous work, China has made great achievements in research and development of REs since 1980s, and the production of RE has won the leading position in the world. The application of RE elements in advanced materials have progressed significantly during the past years. The wide range of rare earth application in China has been reviewed and discussed in this paper, including the development of advanced RE materials (RE-Al alloys, rare earth nonferrous metal alloys, rare earth luminescent materials, rare earth hydrogen storage materials, rare earth permanent magnet and rare earth compounds used in agriculture, i.e., rare earth micronutrient fertilizer etc.) End the research of new RE materials (high T-c rare earth superconductor, rare earth electronic and photonic materials, rare earth ceramics and rare earth precious metal alloys). Finally, the further development works to be required are as follow: (1) to enhance the applied fundamental research, study the intrinsic properties of rare earth elements and develop less well known uses; (2) to undertake the applied research of median and heavy rare earth and find a way out of the unbalance of RE resources in the various applications; (3) to strengthen the applied research of RE element's in energy field, solving the energy-related, energy-saved and environmental problems.

Advocacy for Camel research and development in Kenya

Interest in camel research and development in Kenya started with identification of its untapped potential by the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization in 1970s, while responding to droughts in Sahelian Africa, which influenced the Government of Kenya to enhance its focus on economic returns from the camel. Concerted efforts of interest groups led to the founding of the Kenya Camel Association in 1995 to lobby and articulate camel development issues for the betterment and wellbeing of camel keepers. Initial projects dealing in camel research and development implemented from the 1970s to 1980s in the arid and semi arid lands of Kenya had varying successes and challenges. These projects demonstrated the unique adaptation of the camel to arid environments. The association＇s advocacy work uses a holistic approach to share information widely and demonstrate practically aspects of camel management, through an annual forum. Consequently, this has attracted more interest groups focusing on camel research and development.
