Hydrothermal synthesis of pyrrhotite(Fex-1S) nanoplates and their antibacterial, cytotoxic activity study

The inflammato ry response plays an important role in neuroprotection and regeneration after ischemic *** use of non-ste roidal anti-inflammatory drugs has been a matter of debate as to whether they have beneficial or detrimental *** this context,the effects of the anti-inflammatory agent meloxicam have been scarcely documented after stro ke,but its ability to inhibit both cyclooxygenase isoforms(1 and 2) could be a promising strategy to modulate postischemic *** study analyzed the effect of meloxicam in a transient focal cerebral ischemia model in rats,measuring its neuroprotective effect after 48 hours and 7 days of reperfusion and the effects of the treatment on the glial scar and regenerative events such as the generation of new progenitors in the subventricular zone and axonal sprouting at the edge of the damaged *** show that meloxicam’s neuroprotective effects remained after 7 days of reperfusion even if its administration was restricted to the two first days after ***,meloxicam treatment modulated glial scar reactivity,which matched with an increase in axonal ***,this treatment decreased the formation of neuronal progenitor *** study discusses the dual role of anti-inflammatory treatments after stro ke and encourages the careful analysis of both the neuroprotective and the regenerative effects in preclinical studies.

A Sufficient Condition for Kernel Perfectness of a Digraph in Terms of Semikernels Modulo F

A kernel of a directed graph is a set of vertices which is both independent and absorbent. And a digraph is said to be kernel perfect if and only if any induced subdigraph has a kernel. Given a set of arcs F, a semikernel S modulo F is an independent set such that if some Sz-arc is not in F, then there exists a zS-arc. A sufficient condition on the digraph is given in terms of semikernel modulo F in order to guarantee that a digraph is kernel perfect. To do that we give a characterization of kernel perfectness which is a generalization of a previous result given by Neumann-Lara [Seminucleos de una digrafica. Anales del Instituto de Matematicas 2, Universidad Nacional AutSnoma de Mexico, 1971]. And moreover, we show by means of an example that our result is independent of previous known sufficient conditions.

Main controversies in breast cancer

In this article, we have reviewed available evidence for diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up in female breast cancer(BC). Into daily clinical practice some controversies are occurred. Especially, in the diagnosis field, despite the fact that the optimal age in which screening mammography should start is a subject of intense controversy, there is a shift toward the beginning at the age of 40 although it is suggested that the net benefit is small for women aged 40 to 49 years. In addition, a promising tool in BC screening seems to be breast tomosynthesis. Other tools such as 3D ultrasound and shear wave elastography(SWE) are full of optimism in BC screening although ultrasonography is not yet a first-line screening method and there is insufficient evidence to recommend the systemic use of the SWE for BC screening. As for breast magnetic resonance imaging(MRI), even if it is useful in BC detection in women who have a strong family history of BC, it is not generally recommended as a screening tool. Moreover, based on the lack of randomized clinical trials showing a benefit of presurgical breast MRI in overall survival, it's integration into breast surgical operations remainsdebatable. Interestingly, in contrast to fine needle aspiration, core biopsy has gained popularity in presurgical diagnosis. Furthermore, after conservative surgery in patients with positive sentinel lymph nodes, the recent tendency is the shift from axillary dissection to axillary conserving strategies. While the accuracy of sentinel lymph node after neoadjuvant chemotherapy and second BC surgery remains controversial, more time is needed for evaluation and for determining the optimal interval between the two surgeries. Additionally, in the decision between immediate or delayed breast reconstruction, there is a tendency in the immediate use. Optimization of Exenatide plus Detemir Treatment for Morbid Obese Patients with Insulin Dependent Diabetes Resistant to Conventional Treatment. Effect of Exenatide on Patients with Mellitus Diabetes Type 2

The purpose of this study was to analyze the effects of the treatment with Exenatide joint to insulin detemir. The study was carried out with obese patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM2) and deficient control, despite intensive insulin therapy combined with oral antidiabetics. A longitudinal study was made with 15 patients controlled by the Endocrinology and Nutrition Section of the Reina Sofía University Hospital, Murcia. These patients were treated with Exenatide joint to insulin during 3, 6 and 12 months. Statistically meaningful differences (p reatment groups (initial HbA1c: 9.55% ± 1.086%, weight: 119.94 kg, insulin requirement: 0.71 IU/kg/day;after 3 months: HbA1c: 7.77% ± 1.164%, weight: 98.13 kg, insulin requirement: 0.59 IU/kg/day;after 6 months: HbA1c: 7.21%, weight: 97.93 kg, insulin requirement: 0.55 IU/kg/day). It was observed that the association of Exenatide and insulin promotes an improvement in several indicators such as weight, body mass index (BMI), systolic pressure (SP), diastolic pressure (DP), triglycerides (TG), cLDL, cHDL and total cholesterol (TC), in patients with diabetes resistant to conventional therapy. However, these improvements were statistically no significant (p < 0.05). It is possible to talk of a reduction of cardiovascular risk factors in patients with Exenatide, being thus a suitable option for this kind of individuals. It is important to emphasize the fact that our study showed bigger body-weight reductions results after 6 and 12 months, as compared to the researches quoted.

Yttrium iron garnet, Y3Fe5O12 (YIG) powders were synthesized by mechanochemical processing (MCP) from different iron sources (FeO, Fe2O3 and Fe3O4) mixed with Y2O3, followed by a heat treatment. The aim of this work is to demonstrate that MCP followed by annealing at very low temperatures (as compared with the classic solid state reaction) can induce the formation of nanostructured YIG. The effect of iron source on final structure was also studied. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) were used to characterize the synthesized powders. The precursors mixed in a stoichiometric ratio to obtain YIG were milled at room temperature in a shaker mixer mill with a ball:powder weight ratio of 10:1. A partial synthesis of YIG was achieved after 9 h of milling time by using the three sources of iron;however, a significant fraction of the product was the perovskite YFeO3. The largest yield of YIG was obtained by using FeO. In all cases a single garnet phase could only be completely obtained after an annealing process at 900?C, around 400?C lower than the typical temperatures to prepare the material by solid state reaction. An analysis of the microstrain and lattice parameters associated with peak displacements is discussed.

Aims Sexes of dimorphic species often differ in ecophysiological traits and display spatial *** differences have been interpreted as an evolved response of the sexes to meet the specific resource demands associated with *** may differ not only in the amount of resources allocated to reproduction but also in the tim-ing of allocation to *** this study,we hypothesize that as a consequence of their specific resource demands for reproduction,the sexes of the dune plant Honckenya peploides differ in terms of tempo-ral patterns of water use efficiency and nitrogen use and *** Water use efficiency,as inferred from leaf carbon isotope discrimi-nation(Δ^(13)C),nitrogen use,estimated by leaf nitrogen isotope com-position(δ^(15)N),and the foliar carbon and nitrogen contents were measured in males and females at three different points in *** Findings Females had greater water use efficiency than males,regardless of *** ratio of N^(15) to N^(14) did not change with time in males,but significantly decreased in August for *** total N content in the leaf tissues of females decreased as the season progressed,while in males a decrease was only found from April to June and then it remained constant from June to August.A similar pattern,but reversed,was followed by the foliar C/N ***,nega-tive relationships between leafΔ^(13)C and N content were found at all times for males and only at the end of the season for ***,our hypothesis that sex-specific patterns of nitrogen and water use efficiency will depend on time was ***,our results highlight the importance of including time in studies of sex-ual dimorphism,and also the role that physiological specialization plays in meeting the specific demands associated with reproduction.
