We consider the 1-D motion of an electron under a periodic force and take into account the effect of radiation reaction dissipation force on its motion, using the formulation of novel radiation reaction force as a function of the external force expression. Two cases are considered: a simple sinusoidal time depending force, and sinusoidal electromagnetic force with position and time dependence. The purpose of the study of these cases is to bring about a way to find an experimental study to determine the validity of this novel approach for the radiation reaction force. We found that the difference of the normalized (with respect the speed of light) velocities, with and without radiation reaction, is quite small between 10-31 to 10-14 for intensities on the electric field of 10-8 to 1 Dynes/ues, which may represent some concern to measure experimentally.

Forl a 1-D conservative system with a position depending mass within a dissipative medium, its effect on the body is to exert a force depending on the squared of its velocity, a constant of motion, Lagrangian, generalized linear momentum, and Hamiltonian are obtained. We apply these new results to the harmonic oscillator and pendulum under the characteristics mentioned about, obtaining their constant of motion, Lagrangian and Hamiltonian for the case when the body is increasing its mass.

We make a numerical study of decoherence on the teleportation algorithm implemented in a linear chain of three nuclear spins system. We study different types of environments, and we determine the associated decoherence time as a function of the dissipative parameter. We found that the dissipation parameter to get a well defined quantum gates (without significant decoherence) must be within the range of γ≤4×10-4 for not thermalized case, which was determined by using the purity parameter calculated at the end of the algorithm. For the thermalized case the decoherence is stablished for very small dissipation parameter, making almost not possible to implement this algorithm for not zero temperature.

In the diamond C12 (nuclear spin zero) structure with a linear chain of C13 (nuclear spin one half) atoms is applied to a transverse static field with respect of this linear chain, having a gradient along the linear chain, and it is also applied to an rf-magnetic field in a plane with a component in the direction of the static field. It is shown that one qubit rotation, the Controlled-Not (CNOT), the Controlled-Controlled-NoT (CCNOT) quantum gates, and teleportation algorithm can be implemented on this structure using integer multiples of electromagnetic π-pulses. Therefore, a quantum computer can be constructed in this form.

The quantization of the forced harmonic oscillator is studied with the quantum variable (x, v∧), with the commutation relation , and using a Schrödinger’s like equation on these variable, and associating a linear operator to a constant of motion K (x, v, t) of the classical system, The comparison with the quantization in the space (x, p) is done with the usual Schrödinger’s equation for the Hamiltonian H(x, p, t), and with the commutation relation . It is found that for the non-resonant case, both forms of quantization bring about the same result. However, for the resonant case, both forms of quantization are different, and the probability for the system to be in the exited state for the (x, v∧) quantization has fewer oscillations than the (x, p∧) quantization, the average energy of the system is higher in (x, p∧) quantization than on the (x

Introduction: At least four techniques or approaches to minimize the risk of injury have been introduced. The correlation between techniques and the complication rate is controversial. The objective of the study is to report the incidence of laparoscopic entry associated injury, in relation to the used technique. Material and Methods: A retrospective study was conducted at the Hospital Espa? ol, in a 12-month period (2013). The medical records of all patients who underwent laparoscopic surgery were reviewed. Demographic and surgical variables were analyzed, comparing the results statistically through an analysis of variance (ANOVA). Results: A total of 792 cases were analyzed. The surgeries performed were: cholecystectomies (42%), appendectomies (26%), diagnostic laparoscopies (20%), ventral or inguinal hernioplasty (9%) and fundoplications (3%). The preferred approach was Hasson’s (79%) and Veres’s needle technique (14%), followed by classic closed (14%) and Palmer technique (2%). We documented six cases of laparoscopic entry associated injury (0.76%), four associated with the Hasson technique, one with Veress’s needle technique and one with direct approach technique were reported. The statistical analysis was performed considering the different techniques and their relation with the injuries. Analysis of variance did not reach statistical significance (p = 0.31). Conclusions: Among our data, the number of laparoscopic entry associated injuries, was less than 1%, and has a similar frequency to the reported literature. We did not find significant differences between the four laparoscopic entry techniques. There remains no clear evidence as to the optimal form of laparoscopic entry in the low-risk patient.

Diabetes mellitus and its complications are becoming one of the most important health problems in the world. Diabetic nephropathy is now the main cause of end-stage renal disease. The mechanisms leading tothe development and progression of renal injury are not well known. Therefore, it is very important to f ind new pathogenic pathways to provide opportunities for early diagnosis and targets for novel treatments. At the present time, we know that activation of innate immunity with development of a chronic low grade inflammatory response is a recognized factor in the pathogenesis of diabetic nephropathy. Numerous experimental and clinical studies have shown the participation of different inflammatory molecules and pathways in the pathophysiology of this complication.

A CFD simulation was proposed to investigate the electrostatic effect on the hydrodynamic behavior of turbulent gas-solid flow in FCC risers. The simulation was first verified using the open experimental data with expected electrostatic effects observed in FCC risers. The influences of several operating parameters on the degree of electrification in FCC risers were analyzed, such as surface charge densities, pressure, gas velocity. It was noted that the gas velocity played a highly significant role compared with solid flux, while the effect of pressure was relatively weak. Further analysis showed that a much stronger electrostatic effect was found in small-scale FCC risers than their large-scale counterparts, and in addition, the major regions affected by the electrostatic charge depend on the scale of the riser. Finally, an external electric field was applied to optimize the flow field distribution in the FCC riser. The results of the electrostatic effects on the hydrodynamic behaviors in FCC risers are of great use in providing a reference for the optimization of FCC risers and their scaling.

Size effect of Si particles on the electrochemical performances of Si/C composite anodes

A series of Si/C composites were fabricated based on pitch and Si powders with particle sizes of 30, 100, 500, and 3000 nm. The size effects of the Si particles in the Si/C composites were investigated for lithium-ion battery anodes. The nanoscale Si and Si/C composites exhibited good capacity retentions. Scanning electron microscopy showed that exterior and interior cracks emerging owing to volume expansion as well as parasitic reactions with the electrolyte could well explain the performance failure.
