A survey of moral distress in certified registered nurse anesthetists:A theoretical perspective for change in ethics education for advance practice nurses

Objective:The aim of this study was to examine the relationship between moral distress that may affect patient safety,and the clinical practice model,assessing ethical decision-making skills of certified registered nurse anesthetists(CRNAs).Methods:A survey using the Ethical Stress Scale(ESS)and the Ethical Assessment Skills Survey(EASS)was conducted with 134 ***:Results indicated no significant effect of practice model on level of moral distress or perceived ethical assessment skill knowledge[Wilks's lambda=0.952,F(6,256)=1.068,P=0.382,n^(2)=0.02].A statistically significant positive correlation existed between importance and skill(r=0.275,P=0.001).CRNAs felt skilled to manage the actions or activities they deemed ***:CRNAs who perceived a higher skill level in addressing ethical issues experienced lower levels of moral *** indicate content-specific curricula for the CRNAs need to be evaluated for ethical decision-making skill assessment content.

Objectives: To assess the nurses’ experiences in service provision a COVID-19 dedicated tertiary public hospital. Materials and Methods: This descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted in one tertiary level public hospital namely Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), Dhaka, Bangladesh from January to December 2021. Data were collected through face-to-face interview using a structured questionnaire containing demographic details and experiences faced by the nurses in service provision during COVID-19. Data was analysed by using SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Science) software version 23. Results: The findings revealed that the mean age of the respondents was 32.35 ± 7.248 years, the minimum age was 23 years and maximum age was 58 years. About half of the respondents 52.1% were in 21 - 30 years. The majorities 89% were female. More than half of the respondents 72.6% were Muslim and 63.83% of respondents have completed Diploma in nursing. About 32.2% respondents were living with senior citizen, 33% respondents were infected by COVID-19, 24.23% respondent mentioned nurse-Patient ratio in general ward was 1:7 and 71.08% mentioned nurse-patient ratio in I.C.U/C.C.U. was 1:3 (December 2021). PPE were available among 88.0% respondents and N95 mask were available among 84.0% respondent. About 34.8% respondents got COVID-19 guideline training and 32.4% got donning and doffing training. More than half of the respondents 76% stated that equipment is adequate, 56.38% respondents mention that insufficient of nurses and 53.7% were mentioned insufficient of subordinate staff. About 22.6% respondents faced social stigma and majorities 96.5% respondents mentioned they got proper family support. Objectives:This study examined the influence of Chinese nurses’personal resources(psychological capital)and access to workplace resources(structural empowerment)on their job ***:A cross-sectional study was designed during the period of January to April *** anonymous questionnaire containing demographic characteristics sheet,Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire,Conditions for Work Effectiveness Questionnaire-II and psychological capital(PsyCap)was issued to 480 registered nurses in Tianjin,China.A total of 462 respondents became our *** regression was performed to explore the factors associated with job ***:The average Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire score was 65.68±12.35 in our study *** regression analysis showed that structural empowerment(β=0.421,Pnurses was at a moderate *** empowerment was the most crucial predictor of job satisfaction,followed by ***,nursing administrators should take measures such as building an authorized work environment and improving nurses’PsyCap in order to promote job satisfaction among Chinese nurses.

Objective: To measure the levels of nurse’s knowledge and attitude after the conduct of education session regarding chemotherapy administration and management. Methodology: This research study was conducted at two oncology units of tertiary Hospital Rawalpindi. A prepost test intervention study design was used on 35 nurses by using Verity’s tools. Results: The mean scores of knowledge were calculated by Cochran’s Q test showed that knowledge scores have significantly increased with ‘educational training’ (p value nurses was not found to be statistically significant in repeated measure of ANOVA. Conclusion: The results show that knowledge is the weakest component and attitude is strongest component of oncology nurses ‘competencies in chemotherapy administration.

As an irreversible and perennial process,aging is accompanied by functional and morphological declines in organs. Generally,aging liver exhibits a decline in volume and hepatic blood flow. Even with a preeminent regenerative capacity to restore its functions after liver cell loss,its biosynthesis and metabolism abilities decline,and these are difficult to restore to previous standards. Apoptosis is a programmed death process via intrinsic and extrinsic pathways,in which Bcl-2 family proteins and apoptosis-related genes,such as p21 and p53,are *** inflicts both favorable and adverse influences on liver *** eliminates transformed abnormal cells but promotes age-related liver diseases,such as nonalcoholic fatty liver disease,liver fibrosis,cirrhosis,and liver cancer. We summarize the roles of apoptosis in liver aging and age-related liver diseases.

Pancreatic pseudocyst(PPC), a common sequela of acute or chronic pancreatitis, was defined by the revised Atlanta classification as "a collection." Endoscopic ultrasound(EUS)-guided drainage is often considered a standard first-line therapy for patients with symptomatic PPC. This effective approach exhibits 90%-100% technical success and 85%-98% clinical success. Bleeding is a deadly adverse event associated with EUS-guided drainage procedures, and the bleeding rate ranges from 3% to 14%. Hemostasis involves conservative treatment, endoscopy, interventional radiology-guided embolization and surgery. However, few studies have reported on EUSguided drainage with massive, multiple hemorrhages related to severe pancreatogenic portal hypertension(PPH). Thus, the aim of this case report was to present a case using a balloon dilator to achieve successful hemostasis for PPH-related massive bleeding in EUSguided drainage of PPC. To our knowledge, this method has not been previously reported.

To learn about the need of post-oriented education training of backbone civilian nurses,and to provide scientific evidence for the promotion of training. Methods The convenience sampling method was performed,and an anonymous survey on 324 nurses who participated in the "backbone civilian nurses training program"from September 2013 to October 2015 was carried out by using self-made ***(1)Among the 324 nurses,12. 04% of them volunteered to participate in the training and 87. 96%were sent by their departments.(2)More than 90% of training contents met their needs.(3)The training methods in demand included theoretical classroom teaching,clinical observation and probation,seminars,clinical management practice,clinical problem discussion and clinical nursing practice(4)The training period suggested by most nurses was about 2 to 4 weeks. Conclusion It is important to strengthen the significance of post-oriented education training and to improve the quality and capacity of civilian through scientific education design and practical training programs.

Patient-perceived empathy from nurses in Taiwan acute care settings

Purpose: The aim of this study was to understand patient-perceived empathy from nurse among different units of Taiwan acute care settings. Design: A crosssectional study was used with a questionnaire survey in acute care units and intensive care units of a medical center in northern Taiwan. Participants were selected by convenient sampling. A total of 548 patients at 14 acute care units and 4 intensive care units in a large Medical Center participated in this questionnaire survey. Methods: Scale of patient-perceived empathy from nurse including 15 item Likert scale was used in this study. The statistical software SPSS 15.0 for Windows was applied and Cronbach’s α, factor analysis, Pearson’s correlation, t-test and one way ANOVA were conducted to analyze the data. Findings: Patients who were first-time hospitalization had higher scores of patient-perceived empathy from nurse than patients who have had hospitalizing experiences. The patient in surgical unit had the highest score of patient-perceived empathy from nurse. The empathy scale score of patient without ICU experience was significantly higher than patient with ICU experience. Also, patients without depressive history had higher score than patients with depression history. Conclusion: Patients with multiple admissions of hospitalization, ICU experience, and depressive history had lower score than other patients. It is suggested that the perception of patients with complicated disease or condition might be different. Thus, an in-depth caring knowledge of both emotions and disease was needed to support patients’ perception of empathy. Clinical Relevance: The care of complicated patients especially with ICU experience needs strong knowledge based both on emotion and disease.
