Improved constraints on Higgs boson self-couplings with quartic and cubic power dependencies of the cross section

Precise determination of the Higgs boson self-couplings is essential for understanding the mechanism underlying electroweak symmetry breaking. However, owing to the limited number of Higgs boson pair events at the LHC, only loose constraints have been established to date. Current constraints are based on the assumption that the cross section is a quadratic function of the trilinear Higgs self-coupling within the κ framework. Incorporating higher-order quantum corrections from virtual Higgs bosons would significantly alter this functional form, introducing new quartic and cubic power dependencies on the trilinear Higgs self-coupling. To derive this new functional form,we propose a specialized renormalization procedure that tracks all Higgs self-couplings at each calculation step. Additionally, we introduce renormalization constants for coupling modifiers within the κ framework to ensure the cancellation of all ultraviolet divergences. With new functional forms of the cross sections in both the gluon-gluon fusion and vector boson fusion channels, the upper limit of κλ3H=λ3H/λ3SHMset by the ATLAS（CMS） collaboration is reduced from 6.6（6.49） to 5.4（5.37）. However, extracting a meaningful constraint on the quartic Higgs self-coupling λ4Hfrom Higgs boson pair production data remains challenging. We also present the invariant mass distributions of the Higgs boson pair at different values of the self-couplings, which could assist in setting optimal cuts for experimental analysis.

We explore the decay properties of the isovector and isoscalar 1-+light hybrids,π1and η1,in N _f=2 lattice QCD at a pion mass mπ≈417 *** McNeile and Michael method is adopted to extract the effective couplings for individual decay modes,which are used to estimate the partial decay widths ofπ1（1600） and η1（1855） by assuming SU（3） *** partial decay widths ofπ1（1600） are predicted to be (Γb1π,Γf1（1285）π,Γρπ,ΓK*K)=(325±75,O（10）,52±7,8.6±1.3) Me V,and the total width is estimated to be 396±90 MeV,considering only statistical *** η1（1855） and the 4.4σsignal observed by BESIII (labeled as η1（2200）) are taken as the two mass eigenstates of the isoscalar 1-+light hybrids in SU（3）,then the dominant decay channel（s）of η1（1855）(η1（2200）) is K1（1270）K (K1（1270）K and K1（1400）K) through the 1+（-）0-（+）*** vector-vector decay modes are also significant for the two η*** the mixing angle α≈22.7°obtained from lattice QCD for the two η1states,the total widths are estimated to beΓη1（1855）=282（85） MeV andΓη1（2200）=455（143） Me *** former is compatible with the experimental width of η1（1855）.Although many systematic uncertainties are not well controlled,these results are qualitatively informative for the experimental search for light hybrids.

We investigated the ground state(1S), radially excited states(2S) and(3S), and orbitally excited state(1P) for the heavy charmonia(c■) and bottomonia(b■) mesons in the light-front quark model(LFQM). The lightfront wave functions have been successful in explaining various physical properties of meson states in the past, especially for the 1S and 2S states. However, the radially excited state 3S and orbitally excited state 1P have rarely been investigated. In this study, we considered these two excited states and investigated the electromagnetic form factors(EMFFs), charge radii, decay constants, parton distribution functions(PDFs), and the distribution amplitudes(DAs)for the quarkonia system. For the sake of completeness, we also studied the ground and the first excited states of quarkonia mesons. We also illustrated the 3D wave functions for the radially excited states to study their nodal structures.

In this study,we employed the heavy quark expansion model with the kinetic scheme to evaluate αS（mc2）,the strong coupling constant at the charm quark mass mc, using data on inclusive semileptonic decays of charmed *** the experimental values of the semileptonic decay widths of the D0and the D+,the value of αs（mc2）was determined to be 0.445±0.009±0.114,where the first uncertainty is experimental and the second is *** value of αs（mc2） is in good agreement with the value of αs（mc2） which calculated by running αS（mZ2） at the Z0boson mass mZwith the renormalization group evolution *** addition,the values of αs（mc2） obtained individually from each of the D0,D+,and Ds+mesons were consistent,as they were of the same origin.

The study of high-energy gamma-ray emission from gamma-ray bursts(GRBs) involves complex synchrotron radiation and synchrotron self-Compton(SSC) scattering mechanisms with multiple parameters exhibiting a wide distribution. Recent advancements in GRB research, particularly the observation of very high energy(VHE,>100 Ge V) radiation, have ushered in a new era of multiwavelength exploration, offering fresh perspectives and limitations for understanding GRB radiation mechanisms. This study aimed to leverage VHE observations to refine constraints on synchrotron + SSC radiation from electrons accelerated by forward shocks. By analyzing two external environments—the uniform interstellar medium and stratified stellar wind medium, we conducted spectral and variability fitting for five specific bursts(GRB 180720B, GRB 190114C, GRB 190829A, GRB 201216C, and GRB 221009A) to identify the optimal parameters characterizing these events. A comparative analysis of model parameter distributions with and without VHE radiation observations reveals that the magnetic energy equipartition factor εBis more concentrated with VHE emissions. This suggests that VHE emissions may offer greater constraints on this microphysical parameter. Additionally, we found that the energy budget between VHE and ke V–Me V γ-ray emissions under the SSC radiation exhibits an almost linear relationship, which may serve as a tool to differentiate radiation mechanisms. We anticipate future statistical analyses of additional VHE bursts to validate our findings.

By incorporating first-order QED effects, we explored the shadows of Kerr-Newman black holes with a magnetic charge through the numerical backward ray-tracing method. Our investigation encompassed both the direct influence of the electromagnetic field on light rays and the distortion of the background spacetime metric due to QED corrections. We found that the area of the shadow increases with the QED effect, mainly owing to the fact that the photons travel more slowly in the effective medium, making them more susceptible to being trapped by the black hole.

Besides using the laser beam, it is very tempting to directly testify the Bell inequality at high energy experiments where the spin correlation is exactly what the original Bell inequality investigates. In this work, we follow the proposal raised in literature and use the successive decays J/ψ →γηc→ ∧∧ → pπ^- pπ^＋ to testify the Bell inequality. Our goal is twofold, namely, we first make a Monte-Carlo simulation of the processes based on the quantum field theory （QFT）. Since the underlying theory is QFT, it implies that we pre-admit the validity of quantum picture. Even though the QFT is true, we need to find how big the database should be, so that we can clearly show deviations of the correlation from the Bell inequality determined by the local hidden variable theory. There have been some critiques on the proposed method, so in the second part, we suggest some improvements which may help to remedy the ambiguities indicated by the critiques. It may be realized at an updated facility of high energy physics, such as BES III.

LaNiGa_(2)is a time-reversal symmetry breaking superconductor with symmetry protected band crossings,making it an ideal platform for investigating the interplay between unconventional superconductivity and electronic structure *** we present a transport study of LaNiGa_(2)under *** application of pressure to LaNiGa_(2)induces a significant enhancement of the superconducting transition temperature Tcat a pressure of 7 *** contrast,powder X-ray diffraction(XRD)results show no evidence of structural phase transitions up to 26.3 ***,the ratio of band diffusivity shows a sudden increase at around 7 GPa,suggesting possible pressure-induced changes in the electronic structure that are closely linked to the evolution of superconductivity.
