key technology of Embedded System Implementation for Software-based CNC System

The software-based computer numerical control（CNC） system includes three types of tasks： periodic real-time tasks, aperiodic real-time tasks, and non-real-time tasks. The tasks are characterized by concurrency, hybridization, and correlation, which make system implementation difficult. The conventional scheduling algorithm can not meet the demands of system implementation in the software-based CNC system completely. The uncertainty factors when running real-time tasks affect control performance by degrading manufacturing accuracy as a result of system resource and processor use restrictions. To address the technical difficulty of embedded system implementation, a novel fuzzy feedback scheduling algorithm based on output jitter of key real-time tasks for a software-based CNC system is proposed. Time characteristics, such as sampling jitter, input-output jitter, and non-schedulability are discussed, followed by quantification through simulations of the impact of time characteristics on manufacturing accuracy. On the basis of this research, the scheduler architecture is designed, and then the algorithm table is calculated. When the system resource changes, the key periodic real-time tasks meet their deadlines by means of dynamically adjusting the task period. The simulated results show that the machining precision rises by an order of magnitude for the proposed scheduler in resource-constrained software-based CNC systems. Moreover, unlike conventional feedback scheduling methods, the algorithm in this paper does not rely on the availability of task execution times and is easy to implement while incurring only a small overhead.

In-memory computing to break the memory wall

Facing the computing demands of Internet of things(IoT)and artificial intelligence(AI),the cost induced by moving the data between the central processing unit(CPU)and memory is the key problem and a chip featured with flexible structural unit,ultra-low power consumption,and huge parallelism will be needed.In-memory computing,a non-von Neumann architecture fusing memory units and computing units,can eliminate the data transfer time and energy consumption while performing massive parallel computations.Prototype in-memory computing schemes modified from different memory technologies have shown orders of magnitude improvement in computing efficiency,making it be regarded as the ultimate computing paradigm.Here we review the state-of-the-art memory device technologies potential for in-memory computing,summarize their versatile applications in neural network,stochastic generation,and hybrid precision digital computing,with promising solutions for unprecedented computing tasks,and also discuss the challenges of stability and integration for general in-memory computing.

The ensemble-based variational data assimilation methods gradually become the key in the development of assimilation methods, which remain the advantages both in ensemble-based assimilation methods and variational assimilation methods. As representative of the 3DEn Var, NLS-3DVar（non-linear Least Squares-based on Three-dimensional Variational Data Assimilation） improve the background error covariance estimation by using ensemble forecast statistics to produce B. This paper improves NLS-3DVar from following aspects. The use of historical sampling approach and expanding sample localization scheme make the higher precision and the fewer computing resource. On the other hand, this paper first incorporates the multigrid implementation strategy into the NLS-3DVar to analysis the multi scale observation. The new strategy makes computational costs greatly reduced.

Metabolic diseases including type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM),non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD),and metabolic syndrome(MetS)are alarming health burdens around the world,while therapies for these diseases are far from satisfying as their etiologies are not completely dear yet.T2DM,NAFLD,and MetS are all complex and multifactorial metabolic disorders based on the interactions between genetics and environment.Omics studies such as genetics,transcriptomics,epigenetics,proteomics,and metabolomics are all promising approaches in accurately characterizing these diseases.And the most effective treatments for individuals can be achieved via omics pathways,which is the theme of precision medicine.In this review,we summarized the multi-omics studies of T2DM,NAFLD,and MetS in recent years,provided a theoretical basis for their pathogenesis and the effective prevention and treatment,and highlighted the biomarkers and future strategies for precision medicine.

Photo-induced cancer therapy,such as photodynamic therapy（PDT） or photothermal therapy（PTT） treatment has shown great promise in precision nanomedicine owing to their selectivity,low systemic toxicity,negligible drug resistance,and non-invasive modality.1-3 In this presentation,we will demonstrate wavelength-dependent photoconversion regulation of Bodipy fluorophores through polymeric vesicles for either PDT or PTT treatment（Scheme 1）.Bodipy is assembled with the terpolymer into polymeric vesicles in the conformation of both J-type and H-type aggregates,causing the red-shifted absorption into the near-infrared（NIR） region,low radiative transition,and ideal resistance to photobleaching.Under 660 nm irradiation,the vesicles mainly display remarkable singlet oxygen quantum yield through singlet-to-triplet transition,thereby leading to abundant intracellular singlet oxygen at the tumor for effective PDT.However,under 785 nm irradiation,they primarily possess distinct photothermal conversion efficiency through non-radiative transition together with mild singlet oxygen generation,thus leading to potent hyperthermia at the tumor for robust PDT-synergized PTT.Moreover,the vesicles have preferable cellular uptake,effective cytoplasmic drug translocation through singlet oxygen-mediated lysosomal disruption,and enhanced tumor accumulation,which contribute to the total tumor ablation without any regrowth.4

Multi-class detection of cherry tomatoes using improved YOLOv4-Tiny

The rapid and accurate detection of cherry tomatoes is of great significance to realizing automatic picking by robots.However,so far,cherry tomatoes are detected as only one class for picking.Fruits occluded by branches or leaves are detected as pickable objects,which may cause damage to the plant or robot end-effector during picking.This study proposed the Feature Enhancement Network Block(FENB)based on YOLOv4-Tiny to solve the above problem.Firstly,according to the distribution characteristics and picking strategies of cherry tomatoes,cherry tomatoes were divided into four classes in the nighttime,and daytime included not occluded,occluded by branches,occluded by fruits,and occluded by leaves.Secondly,the CSPNet structure with the hybrid attention mechanism was used to design the FENB,which pays more attention to the effective features of different classes of cherry tomatoes while retaining the original features.Finally,the Feature Enhancement Network(FEN)was constructed based on the FENB to enhance the feature extraction ability and improve the detection accuracy of YOLOv4-Tiny.The experimental results show that under the confidence of 0.5,average precision(AP)of non-occluded,branch-occluded,fruit-occluded,and leaf-occluded fruit over the day test images were 95.86%,92.59%,89.66%,and 84.99%,respectively,which were 98.43%,95.62%,95.50%,and 89.33% on the night test images,respectively.The mean Average precision(mAP)of four classes over the night test set was higher(94.72%)than that of the day(90.78%),which were both better than YOLOv4 and YOLOv4-Tiny.It cost 32.22 ms to process a 416×416 image on the GPU.The model size was 39.34 MB.Therefore,the proposed model can provide a practical and feasible method for the multi-class detection of cherry tomatoes.

A large aspect ratio vibration reducing tool holder based on passive damping vibration reduction technology is designed to solve the vibration problem that occurs in deep hole machining of vertical lathes.A dynamic model of passive damping vibration reduction tool holder was established,and the optimal damping ratio,optimal frequency ratio,and maximum relative amplitude were derived.Modal analysis of the passive damping vibrationreduction tool holder was conducted using software.The results showed that the maximum response amplitude of the passive damping vibration reduction tool holder decreased significantly compared to the original one.

Lever Arm Compensation of Autonomous Underwater Vehicle for Fast Transfer Alignment

Transfer alignment is used to initialize SINS(Strapdown Inertial Navigation System)in motion.Lever-arm effect compensation is studied existing in an AUV(Autonomous Underwater Vehicle)before launched from the mother ship.The AUV is equipped with SINS,Doppler Velocity Log,depth sensor and other navigation sensors.The lever arm will cause large error on the transfer alignment between master inertial navigation system and slave inertial navigation system,especially in big ship situations.This paper presents a novel method that can effectively estimate and compensate the flexural lever arm between the main inertial navigation system mounted on the mother ship and the slave inertial navigation system equipped on the AUV.The nonlinear measurement equation of angular rate is derived based on three successive rotations of the body frame of the master inertial navigation system.nonlinear filter is utilized as the nonlinear estimator for its capability of non-linear approximation.Observability analysis was conducted on the SINS state vector based on singular value decomposition method.State equation of SINS was adopted as the system state equation.Simulation experiments were conducted and results showed that the proposed method can estimate the flexural lever arm more accurately,the precision of transfer alignment was improved and alignment time was shortened accordingly.

Multivariate competing endogenous RNA network characterization for cancer microRNA biomarker discovery:a novel bioinformatics model with application to prostate cancer metastasis

Background:MicroRNAs(miRNAs)are post-transcriptional regulators with potential as biomarkers for cancer management.Datadriven competing endogenous RNA(ceRNA)network modeling is an effective way to decipher the complex interplay between miRNAs and spongers.However,there are currently no general rules for ceRNA network-based biomarker prioritization.Methods and results:In this study,a novel bioinformatics model was developed by integrating gene expression with multivariate miRNA-target data for ceRNA network-based biomarker discovery.Compared with traditional methods,the structural vulnerability in the human long non-coding RNA(lncRNA)–miRNA–messenger RNAs(mRNA)network was comprehensively analyzed,and the single-line regulatory or competing mode among miRNAs,lncRNAs,and mRNAs was characterized and quantified as statistical evidence for miRNA biomarker identification.The application of this model to prostate cancer(PCa)metastasis identified a total of 12 miRNAs as putative biomarkers from the metastatic PCa-specific lncRNA–miRNA–mRNA network and nine of them have been previously reported as biomarkers for PCa metastasis.The receiver operating characteristic curve and cell line qRT-PCR experiments demonstrated the power of miR-26b-5p,miR-130a-3p,and miR-363-3p as novel candidates for predicting PCa metastasis.Moreover,PCa-associated pathways such as prostate cancer signaling,ERK/MAPK signaling,and TGF-βsignaling were significantly enriched by targets of identified miRNAs,indicating the underlying mechanisms of miRNAs in PCa carcinogenesis.Conclusions:A novel ceRNA-based bioinformatics model was proposed and applied to screen candidate miRNA biomarkers for PCa metastasis.Functional validations using human samples and clinical data will be performed for future translational studies on the identified miRNAs.
