High-spin states in 145Tb have been populated using the 118Sn (32S, 1p4n) reaction at beam energy of 165 MeV. The level scheme of 145Tb has been established up to Ex ≈7.4 MeV. The level scheme shows characteristics of a spherical or slightly oblate nucleus. Based on the systematic trends of the level structure in the neighboring N = 80 isotones, the level structure in 145Tb below 2 MeV excitation is well explained by coupling an h11/2valence proton to the even-even 144Gd core. Above 2 MeV excitation, most of the yrast levels are interpreted with multi-quasiparticle shell-model configurations.

Magnetic properties were investigated for the rare-earth 3d-transition metal oxides with the perovskite structure. Intriguing magnetic phenomena were reviewed for a few systems:magnetization peak effect in the titanates, magnetization reversal in the chromites and metallic ferromagnetism in the cobaltites. The results suggest an important role of the rare-earth ions for the magnetic properties of such complex oxides.

The present work has dealt extensively and systematically with the fading characteristics of polystyrene-alanine dosimeters irradiated at different dose rates and total doses under various temperatures (10-70 ℃) and stored a period of time in different conditions (5, 25, room temperature, 40 ℃). Detail investigation on this effect in practical irradiation condition is very important. Because it is difficult to correct this effect using correction coefficients so far. So the temperature coefficients and fading rates have been given along with a lot of experimental data to try to make approximation of radical formation or decay behavior.

Plasma control on high-β_N steady-state operation for JT-60 superconductingmodification is discussed. Accessibility to high-β_N exceeding the free-boundary limit isinvestigated with the stabilising wall of reduced-activated ferritic steel and the active feedbackcontrol of the ill-vessel non-axisymmetric field coils. Taking the merit of superconducting magnet,advanced plasma control for steady-state high performance operation could be expected.

This study attempted to develop an appropriate catalyst used for the steam reforming of gasified spent solvents. Rh2O3/ CeOE-Al2O3 catalysts with various CeO2 loadings were prepared and heated at different temperatures of 500 and 800 ℃, and their surface properties were studied using X-ray diffraction （XRD）, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy （XPS）, transmission electron microscopy （TEM）, temperature programmed reduction （TPR） and Bmmauer-Emmett-Teller （BET） analyses. Rhodium existed in the form of Rh2O3, regardless of the sample composition as well as the heating temperature. In the tested range of cerium addition （up to 12 times the rhodium mass）, no significant changes in BET surface areas and binding energy corresponding to Rh 3d5/2 were observed. Instead, the addition of cerium led to a greatly enhanced dispersion of rhodium nanoparticles, and no agglomeration of rhodium was observed for samples heated even at 800 ℃. Honeycomb monolith rhodium catalysts promoted with cerium were fabricated and tested for the steam reforming of a gasified spent solvent, mainly consisting of butylene （C4H8）. The test results suggested that a cerium-promoted rhodium catalyst could be used as an appropriate reforming catalyst for treating low-quality non-methane hydrocarbons without the formation of coke at high temperatures of up to 900 ℃.

Performance of a New Ion Source for KSTAR Tokamak Plasma Heating

In the experimental campaign of 2010 and 2011 on KSTAR, the NBI-1 system was equipped with one prototype ion source and operated successfully, providing a neutral beam power of 0.7-1.6 MW to the tokamak plasma. The new ion source planned for the 2012 KSTAR campaign had a much more advanced performance compared with the previous one. The target performance of the new ion source was to provide a neutral deuterium beam of 2 MW to the tokamak plasma. The ion source was newly designed, fabricated, and assembled in 2011. The new ion source was then conditioned up to 64 A/100 keV over a 2-hour beam extraction and performance tested at the NB test stand （NBTS） at the Korea atomic energy research institute （KAERI） in 2012. The measured optimum perveance at which the beam divergence is a minimum was about 2.5μP, and the minimum beam divergent angle was under 1.0° at 60 keV. These results indicate that the 2.0 MW neutral beam power at 100 keV required for the heating of plasma in KSTAR can be delivered by the installation of the new ion source in the KSTAR NBI-1 system.

The level structure of ^19Opt has been studied experimentally using the ^176yb （^18O, 4n） reaction at beam energies of 88 and 95 MeV. γ-γ-t coincidence measurements were carried out. Based on the analysis of T-T coincidence relationships, the level scheme of ^190Pt is extended to high-spin states. A new structure built on the 3413.6 keV 14＋ state has been observed, and the ＂vi13/2^-2 vh9/2^-1 vj （j = P3/2 or f5/2） configuration is tentatively assigned to it.

Prediction of Turbulent Flow Structure in a Fully Developed Rib-Roughened Narrow Rectangular Channel

Fully developed turbulent water-flow structure over one-side repeated-ribs in narrow two-dimensional rectangular channels was investigated experimentally by Particle Image Velocimetry （PIV） and analytically by the standard k-ε and nonlinear k-ε turbulent models. Two rib-pitch to height ratios （p/k） of 10 and 20 were investigated while the rib height was held constant at 4 mm. The rib height-to-channel equivalent diameter ratio （k/De） was 0.1. The streamwise mean velocity and turbulent kinetic energy distributions at six selected axial stations from the center rib for the two Reynolds number （Re） of 7,000 and 20,000 were obtained and compared with the predicted one. The performance ability in predicting separating and reattaching turbulent water-flow between the standard K-ε and nonlinear k-ε models had yielded no clear conclusion. A large-scale turbulent eddy was generated by the rib promoter and then propagated into the mainstream flow, which led to the deformation of the velocity profile. The turbulent kinetic energy was increased about two times higher at p/k = 20 than that at p/k =10 under the two Reynolds numbers. The effect of the p/k value and the Reynolds number （Re） on reattachment length （XR） was investigated and showed that the p/k and Re had no significant effect on the reattachment length beyond a critical value of Re = 15,000 where XR was found to be approximately 4 times of the rib height under water-flow condition.

Applicability of the following creep constitutive equations was investigated for normal type creep curves of Ni-18.5Cr alloy and tertiary creep dominant curves of Ni-18.5Cr16W alloy under constant load: the θ projection method describing a creep curse by a sum of two exponential terms, modified θ method describing a primary creep stage by an exponential term and a tertiary creep stage by a logarithmic term, modified Ω method describing a creep curve by a sum of two logarithmic term, 2θ method with only a tertiary creep component and Ω method. The θ, modified θ and modified Ω methods can describe normal type and tertiary creep dominant curves. Tertiary creep dominant curves of Ni-18.5Cr-16W alloy at 900℃ are also described using 2θ and Ω methods. Applicability of the modified θ and modified Ω methods is superior for constant load creep curves because they can predict creep curves up to rupture and rupture life accurately and conservatively.
