Role of copper chelating agents: between old applications and new perspectives in neuroscience

The role of copper element has been an increasingly relevant topic in recent years in the fields of human and animal health, for both the study of new drugs and innovative food and feed supplements. This metal plays an important role in the central nervous system, where it is associated with glutamatergic signaling, and it is widely involved in inflammatory processes. Thus, diseases involving copper(Ⅱ) dyshomeostasis often have neurological symptoms, as exemplified by Alzheimer's and other diseases(such as Parkinson's and Wilson's diseases). Moreover, imbalanced copper ion concentrations have also been associated with diabetes and certain types of cancer, including glioma. In this paper, we propose a comprehensive overview of recent results that show the importance of these metal ions in several pathologies, mainly Alzheimer's disease, through the lens of the development and use of copper chelators as research compounds and potential therapeutics if included in multi-target hybrid drugs. Seeing how copper homeostasis is important for the well-being of animals as well as humans, we shortly describe the state of the art regarding the effects of copper and its chelators in agriculture, livestock rearing, and aquaculture, as ingredients for the formulation of feed supplements as well as to prevent the effects of pollution on animal productions.

Hopf bifurcation and chaos in an inertial neuron system with coupled delay

In this paper, inertia is added to a simplified neuron system with time delay. The stability of the trivial equilibrium of the net- work is analyzed and the condition for the existence of Hopf bifurcation is obtained by discussing the associated characteristic equation. Hopf bifurcation is investigated by using the perturbation scheme without the norm form theory and the center man- ifold theorem. Numerical simulations are performed to validate the theoretical results and chaotic behaviors are observed. Phase plots, time history plots, power spectra, and Poincar6 section are presented to confirm the chaoticity. To the best of our knowledge, the chaotic behavior in this paper is new to the previously published works.

Asymptotic Marginal Tax Rate of Individual Income Tax in China

This paper examines the asymptotic marginal rate of individual income tax which maximizes China's social welfare through numerical simulation based on the elasticity of China's labor supply, income distribution and the social objectives of redistribution in accordance with the optimal direct taxation theory. Taking advantage of the optimal direct taxation model with consideration of the income effect, it comes to the conclusion that combined with China's reality, the asymptotic marginal rate of individual labor income tax in China should be between 35% and 40%.

Forecasting volatility in oil prices with a class of nonlinear volatility models:smooth transition RBF and MLP neural networks augmented GARCH approach

In this study, the forecasting capabilities of a new class of nonlinear econometric models, namely, the LSTAR-LST-GARCH-RBF and MLP models are evalu- ated. The models are utilized to model and to forecast the daily returns of crude oil prices. Many financial time series are subjected to leptokurtic distribution, heavy tails, and nonlinear conditional volatility. This characteristic feature leads to deterioration in the forecast capabilities of tradi- tional models such as the ARCH and GARCH models. According to the empirical findings, the oil prices and their daily returns could be classified as possessing nonlinearity in the conditional mean and conditional variance processes. Several model groups are evaluated：（i） the models pro- posed in the first group are the LSTAR-LST-GARCH models that are augmented with fractional integration and asymmetric power terms （FIGARCH, APGARCH, and FIAPGARCH）; （ii） the models proposed in the second group are the LSTAR-LST-GARCH models further aug- mented with MLP and RBF type neural networks. The models are compared in terms of MSE, RMSE, and MAE criteria for in-sample and out-of-sample forecast capabili- ties. The results show that the LSTAR based and neural network augmented models provide important gains over the single-regime baseline GARCH models, followed by the LSTAR-LST-GARCH type models in terms of mod- eling and forecasting volatility in crude oil prices.

Liouville Type Results for a p-Laplace Equation with Negative Exponent

Positive entire solutions of the equation where 1 〈 p ≤ N, q 〉 0, are classified via their Morse indices. It is seen that there is a critical power q = qc such that this equation has no positive radial entire solution that has finite Morse index when q 〉 qc but it admits a family of stable positive radial entire solutions when 0 〈 q ≤ qc- Proof of the stability of positive radial entire solutions of the equation when 1 〈 p 〈 2 and 0 〈 q ≤ qc relies on Caffarelli-Kohn Nirenberg＇s inequality. Similar Liouville type result still holds for general positive entire solutions when 2 〈 p ≤ N and q 〉 qc. The case of 1 〈 p 〈 2 is still open. Our main results imply that the structure of positive entire solutions of the equation is similar to that of the equation with p = 2 obtained previously. Some new ideas are introduced to overcome the technical difficulties arising from the p-Laplace operator.

Changing structure of China's meat imports

This paper discusses the determinants of meat imports of China. Results indicate that import demand is mostly determined by import price and real GDP. Imported price has a negative effect and real GDP has a positive influence on import quantity. Tariff does not have a significant effect. As GDP and consumption capacity increases, China has a large potential demand for meat imports. Some countries may gain if China＇s economy continues expanding, while others, like the United States, are the most sensitive to the trade policy of China.

Immersed Hypersurfaces in the Unit Sphere S^(m+1) with Constant Blaschke Eigenvalues

For an immersed submanifold x ： M^m→ Sn in the unit sphere S^n without umbilics, an eigenvalue of the Blaschke tensor of x is called a Blaschke eigenvalue of x. It is interesting to determine all hypersurfaces in Sn with constant Blaschke eigenvalues. In this paper, we are able to classify all immersed hypersurfaces in S^m＋1 with vanishing MSbius form and constant Blaschke eigenvalues, in case （1） x has exact two distinct Blaschke eigenvalues, or （2） m = 3. With these classifications, some interesting examples are also presented.

SYSTEM SIMULATION AND RELIABILITY ASSESSMENT OF CHINESE CARBON SEQUESTRATION MARKET

This study builds a simulation of Chinese carbon sequestration market(CSM) based on the Swarm platform and complex adaptive system(CAS) *** simulation results represent that the total assets and profits of the carbon sequestration project(CSP) buyer and seller are steadily on the increase in the carbon trading *** market regulatory efficiency is determined by the market investment and the improvement of regulation ***,the real sample simulation of Sichuan Daduhe Forest CSP demonstrates that the profit of CSP traded in the CSM is higher than the profit from the transactions of outside *** implies that establishing CSM is an effective way to improve the CSP business for investors and a positive action to response to global warming as ***,this study applies an Analytic Hierarchy Process-Fuzzy Comprehensive Evaluation(AHPFCE) approach to evaluate the reliability of CSM *** concludes that the CSM simulation is "more creditable",which indicates that the CSM simulation results can be used as a proxy to observe the market uncertainties.
