Dear Editor,Emerging infectious diseases(EIDs)severely challenge global public health and the social *** entering the 21st century,our world has witnessed such frequent outbreaks of EIDs as SARS,MERS,influenza,***,the COVID-19,caused by SARS-CoV-2,has resulted in over 775,000,000 infections worldwide and at least 7,000,000 deaths thus far(https://***/),triggering a severe global economic ***,EIDs not only have catastrophic consequences for human society but also pose dreadful threats to *** instance,the outbreak of contagious caprine pleuropneumonia hit the Tibetan antelopes in 2012,resulting in about 16%population shrinkage(Yu et al.,2013),and the cross-host transmission of canine distemper to giant pandas and Amur tigers poses a substantial obstacle to their population recovery(Jin et al.,2017;Wang et al.,2023).Therefore,the prevention and control of EIDs are serious concerns in wildlife conservation and the construction of ecological civilization.

globally, coxsackievirus B4 （CV-B4） has been continuously isolated and evidence suggests an association with the development of pancreatitis and type I diabetes. In addition, CV-B4 is also associated with myocarditis and severe central nervous system （CNS） complications, which remain poorly studied and understood. In the present study, we established an institute for Cancer Research （ICR） mouse model of CV-B4 infection and examined whether CV-B4 infection resulted in a predisposition to myocarditis and CNS infection. We found high survival in both the treatment and control group, with no significant differences in clinical outcomes observed. However, pathological lesions were evident in both brain and heart tissue of the CV-B4-infected mice. in addition, high viral loads were found in the neural and cardiac tissues as early as 2 days post infection. Expressions of IFN-y and IL-6 in sera were significantly higher in CV-B4-infected mice compared to uninfected negative controls, suggesting the involvement of these cytokines in the development of histopathological lesions. Our murine model successfully reproduced the acute myocarditis and cerebral cortical neuron edema induced by CV-B4, and may be useful for the evaluation of vaccine candidates and potential antivirals against CV-B4 infection.

Four species of porcine circoviruses(PCV1–4)have been reported to circulate in Chinese domestic pigs,while the epizootiology of these viruses in free-ranging wild boars in China remains *** this study,tissue and serum samples collected from diseased or apparently healthy wild boars between 2018 and 2020 in 19 regions of China were tested for the prevalence of PCV1–4 *** rates of PCV1,PCV2,and PCV3 DNA in the tissue samples of Chinese wild boars were 1.6%(4/247),58.3%(144/247),and 10.9%(27/247)respectively,with none positive for *** analysis of viral genome showed that the four PCV1 strains distributed in Hunan and Inner Mongolia shared 97.5%–99.6%sequence identity with global distributed reference *** of the ORF2 gene sequences showed that 80 PCV2 strains widely distributed in 18 regions shared 79.5%–100%sequence identity with reference strains from domestic pigs and wild boars,and were grouped into PCV2a(7),PCV2b(31)and PCV2d(42).For PCV3,17 sequenced strains shared 97.2%–100%nucleotide identity at the genomic level and could be divided into PCV3a(3),PCV3b(2)and PCV3c(12)based on the phylogeny of ORF2 gene *** data revealed antibody positive rates against PCV1 and PCV2 of 11.4%(19/167)and 53.9%(90/167)*** data obtained in this study improved our understanding about the epidemiological situations of PCVs infection in free-ranging wild boars in China and will be valuable for the prevention and control of diseases caused by PCVs infection.

Dear Editor,The apolipoprotein B editing complex(APOBEC)protein family members are host antiviral enzymes known for catalyzing cytosine to uracil(C>U)deamination in foreign single-stranded DNA(ssDNA)and RNA(ssRNA)(Blanc and Davidson,2010;Salter and Smith,2018).Enzymatic target motifs for most of the APOBEC enzymes have been experimentally identified,among which the most common ones are 5′-[T/U]C-3′and 5′-CC-3′for DNA/RNA substrates(Salter and Smith,2018;McDaniel et al.,2020).It was recently suggested that SARS-CoV-2 undergoes genome editing by host-dependent RNA-editing proteins such as APOBEC(Di Giorgio et al.,2020;Rice et al.,2020;Simmonds,2020;Schmidt et al.,2021).
