Background:Myopic maculopathy(MM)has become a major cause of visual impairment and blindness worldwide,especially in East Asian *** learning approaches such as deep convolutional neural networks(DCNN)have been successfully applied to identify some common retinal diseases and show great potential for the intelligent analysis of *** study aimed to build a reliable approach for automated detection of MM from retinal fundus images using DCNN ***:A dual-stream DCNN(DCNN-DS)model that perceives features from both original images and corresponding processed images by color histogram distribution optimization method was designed for classification of no MM,tessellated fundus(TF),and pathologic myopia(PM).A total of 36,515 gradable images from four hospitals were used for DCNN model development,and 14,986 gradable images from the other two hospitals for external *** also compared the performance of the DCNN-DS model and four ophthalmologists on 3000 randomly sampledfundus ***:The DCNN-DS model achieved sensitivities of 93.3%and 91.0%,specificities of 99.6%and 98.7%,areas under the receiver operating characteristic curves(AUCs)of 0.998 and 0.994 for detecting PM,whereas sensitivities of 98.8%and 92.8%,specificities of 95.6%and 94.1%,AUCs of 0.986 and 0.970 for detecting TF in two external testing *** the sampled testing dataset,the sensitivities of four ophthalmologists ranged from 88.3%to 95.8%and 81.1%to 89.1%,and the specificities ranged from 95.9%to 99.2%and 77.8%to 97.3%for detecting PM and TF,***,the DCNN-DS model achieved sensitivities of 90.8%and 97.9%and specificities of 99.1%and 94.0%for detecting PMand T,***:The proposed DCNN-DS approach demonstrated reliable performance with high sensitivity,specificity,and AUC to classify different MM levels on fundus photographs sourced from *** can help identify MM automatically among the large myopic groups and show great potenti

Spatial Matching Degree Between Education, healthcare, Elderly Care Facilities and the Built Environment in Megacities Based on POI Data: A Case Study of Chengdu Central Urban Area

During rapid urbanization, megacities see disparities in the spatial distribution of basic public service facilities and the urban built environment. Current research on basic public service facilities focuses on equal spatial distribution, leading to the overlook of their match with the surrounding built environment. Based on a case study on education, healthcare, and elderly care facilities in Chengdu central urban area, this paper analyzes the spatial distribution of these facilities and the built environment, and examines their spatial matching degree using a bivariate spatial autocorrelation model. The findings reveal the following insights: firstly, education and healthcare facilities present a “one core and multi-center” spatial distribution pattern, with the city center serving as the core and suburban subdistricts acting as the multiple centers, while elderly care facilities present a core-edge distribution pattern in contrast;secondly, the built environment presents a core-edge radial distribution pattern, with the city center acting as the nucleus that connects suburban subdistricts;thirdly, the spatial matching degree between the facilities and the urban built environment from the city center outwards is characterized by high, low, medium, and high levels. Notably, a significant spatial mismatch is observed in urban-rural transitional zones. In light of these findings, the paper comes to a conclusion that during urbanization, the efforts to equalize basic public service facilities in the urban-rural transitional zones may lead to spatial mismatches, to which urban planners and managers should pay close attention.

Flexible electronics/spintronics attracts researchers’attention for their application potential abroad in wearable devices,healthcare,and other *** devices’performance(speed,energy consumption)is highly dependent on manipulating information bits(spin-orientation in flexible spintronics).In this work,we established an organic photovoltaic(OPV)/ZnO/Pt/Co/Pt heterostructure on flexible PET substrates with perpendicular magnetic anisotropy(PMA).Under sunlight illumination,the photoelectrons generated from the OPV layer transfer into the PMA heterostructure,then they reduce the PMA strength by enhancing the interfacial Rashba field *** coercive field(Hc)reduces from 800 Oe to 500 Oe at its maximum,and the magnetization can be switched up and down *** stability of sunlight control of magnetization reversal under various bending conditions is also tested for flexible spintronic ***,the voltage output of sunlight-driven PMA is achieved in our prototype device,exhibiting an excellent angular dependence and opening a door towards solar-driven flexible spintronics with much lower energy consumption.

Nowadays, devices are connected across all areas, from intelligent buildings and smart cities to Industry 4.0 andsmart healthcare. With the exponential growth of Internet of Things usage in our world, IoT security is still thebiggest challenge for its deployment. The main goal of IoT security is to ensure the accessibility of services providedby an IoT environment, protect privacy, and confidentiality, and guarantee the safety of IoT users, infrastructures,data, and devices. Authentication, as the first line of defense against security threats, becomes the priority ofeveryone. It can either grant or deny users access to resources according to their legitimacy. As a result, studyingand researching authentication issues within IoT is extremely important. As a result, studying and researchingauthentication issues within IoT is extremely important. This article presents a comparative study of recent researchin IoT security;it provides an analysis of recent authentication protocols from2019 to 2023 that cover several areaswithin IoT (such as smart cities, healthcare, and industry). This survey sought to provide an IoT security researchsummary, the biggest susceptibilities, and attacks, the appropriate technologies, and the most used simulators. Itillustrates that the resistance of protocols against attacks, and their computational and communication cost arelinked directly to the cryptography technique used to build it. Furthermore, it discusses the gaps in recent schemesand provides some future research directions.

Climatic and non-climatic factors driving the livelihood vulnerability of smallholder farmers in Ahafo Ano North District,Ghana

Smallholder farmers in Ahafo Ano North District,Ghana,face multiple climatic and non-climatic *** study assessed the factors contributing to the livelihood vulnerability of smallholder farmers in this district by household surveys with 200 respondents and focus group discussions(FGDs)with 10 *** Mann–Kendall trend test was used to assess mean annual rainfall and temperature trends from 2002 to *** relative importance index(RII)value was used to rank the climatic and non-climatic factors perceived by *** socioeconomic characteristics affecting smallholder farmers’perceptions of climatic and non-climatic factors were evaluated by the binary logistic regression *** showed that mean annual rainfall decreased(P>0.05)but mean annual temperature significantly increased(Phealthcare(RII=0.435),and poor condition of roads to farms(RII=0.415).Smallholder farmers’perceptions of climatic and non-climatic factors were significantly affected by their socioeconomic characteristics(P<0.05).This study concluded that these factors negatively impact the livelihoods and well-being of smallholder farmers and socioeconomic characteristics influence their perceptions of these ***,to enhance the resilience of smallholder farmers to climate change,it is necessary to adopt a comprehensive and context-specific approach that accounts for climatic and non-climatic factors.

Adaptive diagonal loaded minimum variance beamforming applied to medical ultrasound imaging

In order to enhance the robustness and contrast in the minimum variance(MV) beamformer, adaptive diagonal loading method was proposed. The conventional diagonal loading technique has already been used in the MV beamformer, but has the drawback that its level is specified by predefined parameter and without consideration of input-data. To alleviate this problem, the level of diagonal loading was computed appropriately and automatically from the given data by shrinkage method in the proposed adaptive diagonal loaded beamformer. The performance of the proposed beamformer was tested on the simulated point target and cyst phantom was obtained using Field II. In the point target simulation, it is shown that the proposed method has higher lateral resolution than the conventional delay-and-sum beamformer and could be more robust in estimating the amplitude peak than the MV beamformer when acoustic velocity error exists. In the cyst phantom simulation, the proposed beamformer has shown that it achieves an improvement in contrast ratio and without distorting the edges of cyst.

Optimization of ultrasonic elastography by coded excitation and transmit-side multi-frequency compounding

To improve the quality of ultrasonic elastography, by taking the advantage of code excitation and frequency compounding, a transmitting-side multi-frequency with coded excitation for elastography （TFCCE） was proposed. TFCCE adopts the chirp signal excitation scheme and strikes a balance in the selection of sub-signal bandwidth, the bandwidth overlap and the number of sub-strain image based on theoretical derivation, so as to further improve the quality of elastic image. Experiments have proved that, compared with the other optimizing methods, the elastographyic signal-to-noise ratio（Re-SN） and contrast-to-noise ratio（Re-CN） are improved significantly with different echo signal-to-noise ratios （ReSN） and attenuation coefficients. When ReSN is 50 dB, compared with short pulse, Rc-SN and Re-CN obtained by TFCCE increase by 53% and 143%, respectively. Moreover, in a deeper investigation （85-95 mm）, the image has lower strain noise and clear details. When the attenuation coefficient is in the range of 0-1 dB/（***）, Re-SN and Re-CN obtained by TFCCE can be kept in moderate ranges of 5〈Re-SN〈6.8 and 11.4〈Re-CN〈15.2, respectively. In particular, for higher tissue attenuation, the basic image quality cannot be ensured with short pulse excitation, while mediocre quality strain figure can be obtained by TFCCE. Therefore, the TFCCE technology can effectively improve the elastography quality and can be applied to ultrasonic clinical trials.
