Evaluation of periglacial landforms and formation of soil properties on the Mount Honaz,SW türkiye

the main aim of this study is to explain periglacial processes on the summits of Mount Honaz(2571 m a.s.l.),define periglacial landforms,and determine the relationships between morphometric features and topographic *** circles,stony earth circles,non sorted steps,and non sorted stripes were identified on the summits of Mount ***'s correlation coefficient(r)and linear regression analyses were performed by taking metric measurements from 125 periglacial landforms to describe their morphometric features(length,width,height)of periglacial landforms and explain the relationships between them and topographic factors(elevation,slope).to explain the relationships between periglacial landforms and soil properties,soil samples from 11 periglacial landforms were taken and *** landforms,which continue to develop on the summits of Mount Honaz today,have been evaluated with present climate *** of soil samples indicates a notable impact of parent material on the genesis of periglacial *** high ratio of organic matter in mud circle and non sorted step landforms and the high lime ratio in stony earth circle landforms prove a strong relationship between the formation mechanisms of landforms and the soil ***,it is consistent with the findings obtained from the analysis that severe periglacial processes and washing and scavenging events are experienced more on the northern slopes.

In most of the auction systems the values of bids are known to the auctioneer. this allows him to manipulate the outcome of the auction. Hence, one might be interested in hiding these values. Some cryptographically secure protocols for electronic auctions have been presented in the last decade. Our work extends these protocols in several ways. On the basis of garbled circuits, i.e., encrypted circuits, we present protocols for sealed-bid auctions that fulfill the following requirements： 1） protocols are information-theoretically t-private for honest but curious parties; 2） the number of bits that can be learned by malicious adversaries is bounded by the output length of the auction; 3） the computational requirements for participating parties are very low： only random bit choices and bitwise computation of the XOR-function are necessary. Note that one can distinguish between the protocol that generates a garbled circuit for an auction and the protocol to evaluate the auction. In this paper we address both problems. We will present a t-private protocol for the construction of a garbled circuit that reaches the lower bound of 2t ＋ 1 parties, and Finally, we address the problem of bid changes in an auction. a more randomness efficient protocol for （t ＋ 1）^2 parties

Influence of volume percentage of NanotiB2 particles on tribological&mechanical behaviour of 6061-t6 Al alloy nano-surface composite layer prepared via friction stir process

the aim of present study is to analyze the influence of volume percentage(vol.%) of nano-sized particles(tiB_2: average size is 35 nm) on microstructure, mechanical and tribological behavior of 6061-t6 Al alloy surface nano composite prepared via Friction stir process(FSP). the microstructure of the fabricated surface nanocomposites is examined using optical microscopy(OM) and scanning electron microscope(SEM) for distribution of tiB_2 nano reinforcement particles, thickness of nano composite layer formed on the Aluminum alloy substrate and fracture features. the depth of surface nano composite layer is measured as 3683.82 m m along the cross section of stir zone of nano composite perpendicular to FSP. It was observed that increase in volume percentage of tiB_2 particles, the microhardness is increased up to132 Hv and it is greater than as-received Al alloy's microhardness(104 Hv). It is also observed that at 4volume percentage higher tensile properties exhibited as compared with the 2 and 8 vol. %. It is found that high wear resistance exhibited at 4 volume percentage as-compared with the 2 and 8 vol. %. the observed wear and mechanical properties are interrelated with microstructure, fractography and worn morphology.

Inter-comparison of field snow measurements using different instruments in türkiye

Snow is important in türkiye especially in the mountainous eastern areas where it may stay on the ground for more than half of the *** region plays a vital role in feeding the water resources of the trans-boundary Euphrates-tigris Basin,supporting crucial dams for water supply,irrigation and energy ***,easy,frequent,correct and economical ways of measuring the snowpack is *** snow properties at specific locations in the mountainous eastern regions over the two snow seasons(2018 and 2019)were studied by using different instruments and techniques,snow pit(box/cylinder/wedge cutter types),snow tube(Federal Sampler)and Snotel(Snowpack Analyzer).the results point out a 1.7%-7.1%variation between different cutter type snow density measurements within snow pit analysis and the long-term utilized snow tube observations show a closer relation to box/cylinder type *** for the continuous Snotel observations,a variation of 2.4%-9.8%with various cutter types and a 5.9%difference regarding the snow tube density results are *** findings indicate a close range among different instruments,but it is the best when all three systems complement each other to characterize the snowpack effectively in the complex terrain since each has its own advantages.

to protect the sustainability of the benefits from seas and near coastal areas,which have under the effect of the very complex hydrodynamic conditions and intensive human activities,without disrupting the balance of nature,it is necessary to image the status of the seafloor ***,this study presents the deformations,depositional conditions,underwater constructions,and the other non-natural impacts on the seafloor of the nearshore area at western Istanbul(between Küçükçekmece and Büyükçekmece lagoons)where it intensely used by the *** results of the study may provide some guidance for understanding the impacts and risk factors of uses that are or will be conducted in coastal and/or near-coastal *** planning for civil coastal structures and areas should be done in great harmony with nature,minimizing negative environmental *** sediment distribution in the area is generally quite complex,the current state of the region,wave action,hydrodynamic conditions,the amount of material transported from the land,and bathymetry are important influencing *** seafloor has been damaged primarily by anchor deformation and associated bottom scanning,as well as disturbing trawl *** seafloor was observed as partially shallowing near the constructions(such as natural gas pipelines,fishermen’s shelter,and port piles)of coastal areas and associated with sand ***,scanning the seafloor using side-scan sonar may provide valuable frequency data to prevent future disruptions.

Radiation therapy(Rt)is typically applied using one of two standard approaches for preoperative treatment of resectable locally advanced rectal cancer(LARC):short-course Rt(SC-Rt)alone or long-course Rt(LC-Rt)with concurrent fluorouracil(5-FU)*** Phase II single-arm KROG 11-02 study using intermediate-course(IC)(33 Gy(Gray)/10 fr(fraction)with concurrent capecitabine)preoperative chemoradiotherapy(CRt)demonstrated a pathologically complete response rate and a sphincter-sparing rate that were close to those of *** current trial aim to compare the pathological/oncological outcomes,toxicity,and quality of life results of LC-CRt and IC-CRt in cases of *** prescribed dose was 33 Gy/10 fr for the IC-CRt group and 50.4 Gy/28 fr for the LC-CRt *** chronomodulated capecitabine(Brunch regimen)1650 mg/m2/daily chemotherapy treatment was applied in both *** European Organization for Research and treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Questionnaire-Colorectal Cancer Module(EORtC QLQ-CR29)was administered at baseline and at three and six months after CRt.A total of 60 patients with LARC randomized to receive IC-CRt(n=30)or LC-CRt(n=30)were included in this phase II randomized *** significant difference was noted between groups in terms of pathological outcomes,including pathological response rates(ypt0N0-complete response:23.3%vs.16.7%,respectively,and ypt0-2N0-downstaging:50%for each;p=0.809)and Dworak score-based pathological tumor regression grade(Grade 4-complete response:23.3 vs.16.7%,p=0.839).the 5-year overall survival(73.3 vs.86.7%,p=0.173)rate was also *** acute radiation dermatitis(ptological toxicity(p=0.004)rates were significantly higher in the LC-CRt group,while no significant difference was noted between treatment groups in terms of baseline,third month,and sixth month EORtC QLQ-CR29 scores.

Mountainous regions have disadvantages in economic development because of harsh physical and climatic ***,winter tourism activities are one of the key components for supporting economic development in the *** a ski resort area supports direct and indirect employment in a region,and it stops immigration from mountainous regions to other *** research aimed to assess the potential ski areas using a multi criteria evaluation technique in the Van region which is located in the eastern part of tü*** this context,snow cover duration,sun effect,slope,slope length,elevation,population density,distance from main roads and lake visibility were used as input factors in the decision making *** factor was standardized using a fuzzy technique based on existing well-known ski centers in tü*** weight of inputs was defined by applying a survey to the professional *** most important factors were detected as transportation opportunities and snow covers whereas,the least important factors were elevation and population ***,lake visibility was very important to make a difference from other existing facilities in the ***,it was included as constraints and lake visible areas were extracted at the final stage of the *** ski areas were mapped in three levels as professional,intermediate and beginner *** of the suitable areas was selected as a sample projection and for the 3D simulation of the ski investment *** costs and benefits were *** was found that a ski tourism area investment can be amortized in 3 years in the region.

Paleoseismological trenching and seismic hazard assessment of the Bozkurt Segment of the Maymundağı Fault, Acıgöl Graben, SW türkiye

the Acıgöl Graben in SW turkey,ca.50-55 km in length and 11-15 km in width,formed during the Miocene to Quaternary *** graben is bounded by active normal faults of MaymundağıFault(MF)to the northwest and the GemişFault Zone(GFZ)to the southeast that have triggered significant earthquakes,causing considerable *** study focuses on the Bozkurt segment of the MF,which caused a damaging earthquake(Mw 6.0)in 2019 and another significant earthquake in 1886 during historical times.A paleoseismological trench survey along the Bozkurt segment revealed at least two faulting events,with the last event producing a vertical displacement of 0.25 *** Optical Stimulated Luminescence(OSL)dating indicates that the last earthquake occurred 3.13±0.33 ka BP,while the penultimate earthquake occurred 4.0±0.72 ka *** dates correspond to a long-term slip rate of approximately 0.36±0.11 mm/a and a mean recurrence interval of 2.08 ka,short-term slip rate 0.78±0.16 mm/a and recurrence interval of 0.96 ka,and compatible with the mean sedimentation rate of 0.26 mm/a,calculated from drill logs in Acıgöl *** the 6 km length of the Bozkurt segment and its vertical displacement of 0.25 m in the last event,this segment has the potential to generate earthquakes ranging from 5.6 to 5.9 ***-term slip rates derived from geomorphological data are 0.56 mm/year to the north and 0.64 mm/a to the south of the graben,indicating higher subsidence on the southern *** rates are in accordance with the slip rates calculated from the paleoseismological trench survey and sedimentation rate from the *** indications show that the Bozkurt segment is an active Holocene fault with relatively long recurrence intervals and low-slip ***,the paleoseismological studies in combination with geomorphological data are important tool to assess seismic hazards and to define the characteristics of individual fault segments.
