An ethnobotanical study of forage plants in zhuxi County in the Qinba mountainous area of central China

In the Qinba mountainous area of Central China,pig farming has a significant impact on the growth of the rural economy and has substantially increased farmer *** knowledge plays an important role in the selection of forage plant species for pig farming by local *** study aimed to identify the forage plants used for pig feeding and to catalog indigenous knowledge regarding their *** 2016 and 2017,ethnobotanical surveys and inventories were conducted in zhuxi County,Hubei Province,*** were collected using semi-structured interviews,key informant reports,free listings,guided field walks,and participatory observations with 77 households in 16 villages in 13 towns/*** obtained data were analyzed using a relative frequency citation(RFC)***,145 wild forage plants from 91 genera and 31 families were *** most cited families were Asteraceae,Polygonaceae,Urticaceae,Amaranthaceae,Fabaceae,Cruciferae,Caryophyllaceae,and *** plants(75.9%)and tender leaves(12.4%)were the most frequently used parts of the *** of the forage plants were herbaceous(88.9%).Almost all forage plants could be collected throughout the year(62.7%).Raw and cooked were the two main preparation *** most frequently cited species were Taraxacum mongolicum,Bidens pilosa,Sonchus oleraceus,Pilea verrucosa,and Pilea pumila ***.A total of 14 species were identified as the top forage plants in zhuxi County based on their RFC values(RFC value greater than 0.5).Local people possess rich traditional knowledge about the utilization and management of forage plants for pig ***,the maintenance of this traditional knowledge may be seriously threatened by changes in pig feeding modes and the lack of *** strategies and action plans have been suggested for the conservation of traditional knowledge associated with biodiversity and the sustainable use of forage species *** include 1)

The flourishing progress in nanotechnology offers boundless opportunities for agriculture,particularly in the realm of nanopesticides research and ***,concerns have been raised regarding the human and environmental safety issues stemming from the unrestrained use of non-therapeutic nanomaterials in *** is also important to consider whether the current development strategy of nanopesticides based on nanocarriers can strike a balance between investment and return,and if the complex material composition genuinely improves the efficiency,safety,and circularity of ***,we introduced the concept of nanopesticides with minimizing carriers(NMC)prepared through prodrug design and molecular self-assembly emerging as practical tools to address the current limitations,and compared it with nanopesticides employing non-therapeutic nanomaterials as carriers(NNC).We further summarized the current development strategy of NMC and examined potential challenges in its preparation,performance,and ***,we asserted that the development of NMC systems can serve as the innovative driving force catalyzing a green and efficient revolution in nanopesticides,offering a way out of the current predicament.

The complement system is activated during the development of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD).We aimed to evaluate the causal relationship between serum C3 and C4 levels and *** exclusion criteria,a total of 1600 Chinese Han men from the Fangchenggang Area Male Health and Examination Survey cohort were enrolled in cross-sectional analysis,while 572 participants were included in the longitudinal analysis(average follow-up of 4 years).We performed a bidirectional Mendelian randomization(MR)analysis using two C3-related,eight C4-related and three NAFLD-related gene loci as instrumental variables to evaluate the causal associations between C3,C4,and NAFLD risk in cross-sectional *** SD increase in C3 levels was significantly associated with higher risk of NAFLD(OR=1.65,95%CI 1.40,1.94)in cross-sectional analysis while C4 was not(OR=1.04,95%CI 0.89,1.21).Longitudinal analysis produced similar results(HR_(C3)=1.20,95%CI 1.02,1.42;HR_(C4)=1.10,95%CI 0.94,1.28).In MR analysis,there were no causal relation-ships for genetically determined C3 levels and NAFLD risk using unweighted or weighted GRS_C3(β_(E_unweighted)=−0.019,95%CI−0.019,−0.019,p=0.202;β_(E_weighted)=−0.019,95%CI−0.019,−0.019,p=0.322).Conversely,serum C3 lev-els were significantly effected by the genetically determined NAFLD(β_(E_unweighted)=0.020,95%CI 0.020,0.020,p=0.004;β_(E_weighted)=0.021,95%CI 0.020,0.021,p=0.004).Neither the direction from C4 to NAFLD nor the one from NAFLD to C4 showed significant *** results support that the change in serum C3 levels but not C4 levels might be caused by NAFLD in Chinese Han men.

Activation of specific sets of protein kinases by intracellular signal molecules has become more and more apparent in the past decade. Phosphorylation, one of key posttranslational modification events, is activated by kinase or regulatory protein and is vital for controlling many physiological functions of eukaryotic cells such as cell proliferation, differentiation, malignant transformation,and signal transduction mediated by external stimuli. Moreovers, the reversible modification of phosphorylation and dephosphorylation can result in different features of the target substrate molecules including DNA binding, protein-protein interaction, subcellular location and enzymatic activity, and is often hijacked by viral infection. Epstein-Barr virus(EBV) and Kaposi's sarcomaassociated herpesvirus(KSHV), two human oncogenic gamma-herpesviruses, are shown to tightly associate with many malignancies. In this review, we summarize the recent progresses on understanding of molecular properties and regulatory modes of cellular and viral proteins phosphorylation influenced by these two tumor viruses, and highlight the potential therapeutic targets and strategies against their related cancers.

Pressure-Induced Structural Transitions of the Zinc Sulfide Nano-particles with Different Sizes

ZnS nano-particles with average sizes of 10 nm and 5 nm were fabricated by sol-gel method, and their pressure-induced phase transformations were in-situ examined in a diamond anvil cell by energy dispersive X-ray diffraction （EDXD） from ambient pressure to 35.0 GPa. From the obtained interplanar spacing data,the volume compression ratios were derived at different pressures, and then the bulk modulus and its pressure derivative were obtained by fitting to the Murnaghan equation. It is found that both ZnS nano-particles initially in the zinc-blende phase transformed to cubic NaCl structure in the presence of pressure and the transition was reversible when the pressure was released. Moreover, it is suggested that a smaller particle size will induce a larger transition pressure.

Environment and energy are the eternal hot topics in the world,multiloculated microscale materials have attracted great attention in the field of electromagnetic interference(EMI)shielding and lithium ions ***,a novel flower-like NiFe_(2)O_(4)/graphene composite with adjustable structure was fabricated as EMI shielding material and anode material of lithium-ion ***_(2)O_(4)/graphene composite is a potential green EMI shielding *** EMI shielding effectiveness(SE)increases with the increase of graphene content in NiFe_(2)O_(4)/graphene composite,and the total EMI SE of NiFe_(2)O_(4)/graphene with 73.6 wt.%graphene increases from 26.5 to 40.6 d B with the increase of frequency in 2–18 ***,it exhibits long-life and large capacity lithium storage performance at high current *** capacity reaches 732.79 m Ah g^(-1)after 100 cycles at 0.1 A g^(-1),recovering to more than 139%from the minimum capacity *** 300 cycles at 0.5 A g^(-1),the capacity increases to 688.5 mAh g^(-1).The initial capacities at 2 and 5 A g^(-1)are 704.9 and 717.8 mAh g^(-1),and remain 297.9 and 203.2 m Ah g^(-1)after 1000 *** distinguished EMI shielding performance and electrochemical performance are mainly ascribed to the structure regulation of NiFe_(2)O_(4)/graphene composite,as well as the synergistic effect of graphene and NiFe_(2)O_(4).This research opens up infinite opportunities for the application of multifunctional and interdisciplinary materials.

The circadian clock participates in maintaining homeostasis in peripheral tissues,including intervertebral discs(IVDs).Abnormal mechanical loading is a known risk factor for intervertebral disc degeneration(IDD).Based on the rhythmic daily loading pattern of rest and activity,we hypothesized that abnormal mechanical loading could dampen the IVD clock,contributing to ***,we investigated the effects of abnormal loading on the IVD clock and aimed to inhibit compression-induced IDD by targeting the core clock molecule brain and muscle Arnt-like protein-1(BMAL1).In this study,we showed that BMAL1 KO mice exhibit radiographic features similar to those of human IDD and that BMAL1 expression was negatively correlated with IDD severity by systematic analysis based on 149 human IVD *** intrinsic circadian clock in the IVD was dampened by excessive loading,and BMAL1 overexpression by lentivirus attenuated compression-induced *** of the RhoA/ROCK pathway by Y-27632 or melatonin attenuated the compression-induced decrease in BMAL1 ***,the two drugs partially restored BMAL1 expression and alleviated IDD in a diurnal compression *** results first show that excessive loading dampens the circadian clock of nucleus pulposus tissues via the RhoA/ROCK pathway,the inhibition of which potentially protects against compression-induced IDD by preserving BMAL1 *** findings underline the importance of the circadian clock for IVD homeostasis and provide a potentially effective therapeutic strategy for IDD.
