Endoscopic features and treatments of gastric cystica profunda

BACKGROUND Gastric cystica profunda(GCP)represents a rare condition characterized by cystic dilation of gastric glands within the mucosal and/or submucosal *** is often linked to,or may progress into,early gastric cancer(EGC).AIM To provide a comprehensive evaluation of the endoscopic features of GCP while assessing the efficacy of endoscopic treatment,thereby offering guidance for diagnosis and *** This retrospective study involved 104 patients with GCP who underwent endoscopic *** demographic and clinical data,regular patient followups were conducted to assess local *** Among the 104 patients diagnosed with GCP who underwent endoscopic resection,12.5%had a history of previous gastric *** primary site predominantly affected was the cardia(38.5%,n=40).GCP commonly exhibited intraluminal growth(99%),regular presentation(74.0%),and ulcerative mucosa(61.5%).The leading endoscopic feature was the mucosal lesion type(59.6%,n=62).The average maximum diameter was 20.9±15.3 mm,with mucosal involvement in 60.6%(n=63).Procedures lasted 73.9±57.5 min,achieving complete resection in 91.3%(n=95).Recurrence(4.8%)was managed via either surgical intervention(n=1)or through endoscopic resection(n=4).Final pathology confirmed that 59.6%of GCP cases were associated with *** analysis indicated that elderly males were more susceptible to GCP associated with ***,multivariate analysis identified lesion morphology and endoscopic features as significant risk *** analysis demonstrated no statistically significant difference in recurrence between GCP with and without EGC(P=0.72).CONCLUSION The findings suggested that endoscopic resection might serve as an effective and minimally invasive treatment for GCP with or without EGC.

As a type of austenitic stainless steel,316L stainless steel has excellent plasticity,corrosion resistance,and biocompatibility,making it widely used in industries,especially in the marine ***,its lower yield strength and wear resistance are the obvious disadvantages that restrict its application in more *** this work,an Fe-based amorphous alloy(Fe^(am))was selected as reinforcement to enhance the 316L stainless steel prepared by selective laser melting(SLM),and microstructure evolution,mechanical properties,tribological and corrosion performance of the SLMed samples were investigated in *** relative density values of both 316L stainless steel and Fe^(am)-reinforced samples are above 99%,which suggests that Fe^(am)-reinforced samples also have outstanding *** the as-etched micrograph,all of the SLMed samples exhibit cellular ***^(am)-reinforced samples have thicker sub-grain boundaries,and retained amorphous phase can be observed in the samples reinforced with 10 wt%and 15 wt%Fe^(am).As the addition of Fe^(am) increases,the microhardness and compression strength of the Fe^(am)-reinforced samples gradually improve and reach 449.2 HV and 2181.9 MPa,*** wear morphologies show that the 316L stainless steel and Fe^(am)-reinforced samples both experience abrasive wear and corrosion wear in a 3.5 wt%NaCl ***,as the amount of Fe^(am) added increases,the coefficient of friction and wear rate of SLMed samples gradually *** to the unreinforced sample,Fe^(am)-reinforced samples have lower corrosion current density and higher pitting potential according to the potentiodynamic polarization curves and also exhibit superior corrosion resistance in the salt spray *** work suggests that the addition of Fe-based amorphous alloy can improve the mechanical properties and wear resistance of 316L stainless steel,as well as its ability to withstand salt spray corrosion.

The utilization of enteroviruses engineered with reporter genes serves as a valuable tool for advancing our understanding of enterovirus biology and its applications,enabling the development of effective therapeutic and preventive *** this study,our initial attempts to introduce a NanoLuc luciferase(NLuc)reporter gene into recombinant enteroviruses were unsuccessful in rescuing viable *** hypothesized that the size of the inserted tag might be a determining factor in the rescue of the ***,we inserted the 11-amino-acid HiBiT tag into the genomes of enterovirus A71(EV-A71),coxsackievirus A10(CVA10),coxsackievirus A7(CVA7),coxsackievirus A16(CVA16),namely EV-A71-HiBiT,CVA16-HiBiT,CVA10-HiBiT,CVA7-HiBiT,and observed that the HiBiT-tagged viruses exhibited remarkably high rescue ***,the HiBiT-tagged enteroviruses displayed comparable characteristics to the wild-type viruses.A direct comparison between CVA16-NLuc and CVA16-HiBiT recombinant viruses revealed that the tiny HiBiT insertion had minimal impact on virus infectivity and replication ***,these HiBiT-tagged enteroviruses demonstrated high genetic stability in different cell lines over multiple *** addition,the HiBiT-tagged viruses were successfully tested in antiviral drug assays,and the sensitivity of the viruses to drugs was not affected by the HiBiT ***,our findings provide definitive evidence that the integration of HiBiT into enteroviruses presents a universal,convenient,and invaluable method for advancing research in the realm of enterovirus ***,HiBiT-tagged enteroviruses exhibit great potential for diverse applications,including the development of antivirals and the elucidation of viral infection mechanisms.

In this editorial we comment on the review by Wang et al published in the recent issue of the World Journal of Gastroenterology in *** extracellular vesicles(exosomes)play important roles in the tumor *** this review,the authors introduce the following points:(1)The composition and function of exosomal microRNAs(miRNAs)of different cell origins in hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC);(2)the crosstalk between exosomal miRNAs from stromal cells and immune cells in the tumor microenvironment and the progression of HCC;and(3)the potential applicability of exosomal miRNAs derived from mesenchymal stem cells in the treatment of *** addition,the potential applicability of exosomal miRNAs derived from mesenchymal stem cells in the treatment of HCC was *** this review,the authors give us an overview of the exosomal RNA and summarize the function of exosomal RNA in HCC,which provides a deeper understanding of exosomal miRNAs to the readers.

Ultra-conservative noncoding RNA uc.243 confers chemo-resistance by facilitating the efflux of the chemotherapeutic drug in ovarian cancer

Background:Despite improvements in objective response rates to cisplatin-based combination chemotherapy,the majority of advanced ovarian cancer remains suboptimal,resulting in poor *** has been found that non-coding RNAs(ncRNAs)not only participate in the transmission of signals between various cells but also participate in tumor immunity and anti-tumor immune responses,thereby regulating tumor occurrence and ***,the function and detailed mechanism of ultraconserved RNA(ucRNA)in ovarian cancer chemoresistance is still ***:Western blotting assay,Quantitative real-time PCR analysis(qPCR),and Kaplan-Meier Plotter analysis were performed to analyze the expression and prognosis of uc.243 in ovarian *** assay and Annexin V assay were performed to analyze the function of uc.243 in cisplatin resistance in ovarian cancer *** pull-down and qPCR experiments were performed to explore the molecular mechanism of uc.243 enhancing cisplatin resistance in ovarian cancer ***:Herein,we found that uc.243 was remarkably upregulated and correlated with patient survival in chemoresistance ovarian cancer patients compared with chemo-sensitive ovarian *** experiment displayed that uc.243 induced cisplatin resistance on ovarian cancer cells by facilitating the efflux of cisplatin(CDDP);but inhibiting the expression of uc.243 significantly reverses this ***,uc.243 can inhibit the binding of RNA binding protein DGCR8 microprocessor complex subunit to pri-miR-155,thereby inhibiting the cleavage of pri-miR-155 and decrease in mature miR-155,subsequently upregulates the expression of ATP binding cassette subfamily B member(ABCB1,ABCC2).Conclusion:Our research findings indicate that uc.243 can induce chemotherapy resistance in ovarian cancer,suggesting that it may become a new prognostic biomarker for malignant ovarian cancer.

Rational design of AgGaS/ZnS/ZnS quantum dots with a near-unity photoluminescence quantum yield via double shelling scheme

In this study,a two-step method was used to synthesize highly luminescent AgGaS/ZnS/ZnS quantum dots(QDs).In the first step,an inner ZnS shell was formed via a one-pot method,which resulted in a smaller lattice mismatch between the AgGaS core and the outer ZnS shell,thereby facilitating the formation of a thick outer *** the two-step shelling process,the synthesized AgGaS/ZnS/ZnS QDs showed an excellent photoluminescence quantum yield(PLQY)of 96.4%with a peak wavelength of 508 nm,repre-senting the highest PLQY reported thus far for AgGaS ***,the effect of halogen ions in Zn precursors on the shelling process was *** was proposed that the capacity of halogen ions to coordinate with the QDs influenced the balance between Zn cation diffusion and ZnS shelling ***,the ZnS shelling reaction was dominant when ZnCl_(2)was employed,while Zn cation diffusion was the dominant process under the I^(−)-rich *** work provides insights into the interfacial restructuring during the ZnS shelling and offers a clear map for the tailored synthesis of core/shell QDs.

BMP7 expression in mammalian cortical radial glial cells increases the length of the neurogenic period

The seat of human intelligence is the human cerebral cortex,which is responsible for our exceptional cognitive *** principles that lead to the development of the large-sized human cerebral cortex will shed light on what makes the human brain and species so *** remarkable increase in the number of human cortical pyramidal neurons and the size of the human cerebral cortex is mainly because human cortical radial glial cells,primary neural stem cells in the cortex,generate cortical pyramidal neurons for more than 130 days,whereas the same process takes only about 7 days in *** molecular mechanisms underlying this difference are largely ***,we found that bone morphogenic protein 7(BMP7)is expressed by increasing the number of corti-cal radial glial cells during mammalian evolution(mouse,ferret,monkey,and human).BMP7 expression in cortical radial glial cells promotes neurogenesis,inhibits gliogenesis,and thereby increases the length of the neurogenic period,whereas Sonic Hedgehog(SHH)signaling promotes cortical *** demonstrate that BMP7 sign-aling and SHH signaling mutually inhibit each other through regulation of GLI3 repressor *** propose that BMP7 drives the evolutionary expansion of the mammalian cortex by increasing the length of the neurogenic period.

Bromocriptine protects perilesional spinal cord neurons from lipotoxicity after spinal cord injury

Recent studies have revealed that lipid droplets accumulate in neurons after brain injury and evoke lipotoxicity,damaging the ***,how lipids are metabolized by spinal cord neurons after spinal cord injury remains ***,we investigated lipid metabolism by spinal cord neurons after spinal cord injury and identified lipid-lowering compounds to treat spinal cord *** found that lipid droplets accumulated in perilesional spinal cord neurons after spinal cord injury in *** droplet accumulation could be induced by myelin debris in HT22 *** debris degradation by phospholipase led to massive free fatty acid production,which increased lipid droplet synthesis,β-oxidation,and oxidative *** oxidative phosphorylation increased reactive oxygen species generation,which led to increased lipid peroxidation and HT22 cell *** was identified as a lipid-lowering compound that inhibited phosphorylation of cytosolic phospholipase A2 by reducing the phosphorylation of extracellular signal-regulated kinases 1/2 in the mitogen-activated protein kinase pathway,thereby inhibiting myelin debris degradation by cytosolic phospholipase A2 and alleviating lipid droplet accumulation in myelin debris-treated HT22 *** function,lipid droplet accumulation in spinal cord neurons and neuronal survival were all improved in bromocriptine-treated mice after spinal cord *** results suggest that bromocriptine can protect neurons from lipotoxic damage after spinal cord injury via the extracellular signal-regulated kinases 1/2-cytosolic phospholipase A2 pathway.
