Numerical Simulation and Experimental research on the Influence of Solid-phase Characteristics on Centrifugal Pump Performance

The law governing the movement of particles in the centrifugal pump channel is co.plicated; thus, it is difficult to examine the solid-liquid two-phase turbulent flow in the pump. co.sequently, the solid-liquid two-phase pump is designed based only on the unary theory. However, the obvious variety of centrifugal-pump internal flow appears because of the existence of solid phase, thus changing pump performance. Therefore, it is necessary to establish the flow characteristics of the solid-liquid two-phase pump. In the current paper, two-phase numerical simulation and centrifugal pump performance tests are carried out using different solid-particle diameters and two-phase mixture co.centration co.ditions. Inner flow features are revealed by co.paring the simulated and experimental results. The co.paring results indicate that the influence of the solid-phase characteristics on centrifugal-pump performance is small when the flow rate is low, specifically when it is less than 2 m3/h. The maximum efficiency declines, and the best efficiency point tends toward the low flow-rate direction along with increasing solid-particle diameter and volume fraction, leading to reduced pump steady efficient range. The variation tendency of the pump head is basically co.sistent with that of the efficiency. The efficiency and head values of the two-phase mixture transportation are even larger than those of pure-water transportation under smaller particle diameter and volume fraction co.ditions at the low-flow-rate region. The change of the particle volume fraction has a greater effect on the pump performance than the change in the particle diameter. The experimental values are totally smaller than the simulated values. This research provides the theoretical foundation for the optimal design of centrifugal pump.

Federated learning-based short-term building energy co.sumption prediction method for solving the data silos problem

Transfer learning is an effective method to predict the energy co.sumption of information-poor buildings by learning transferable knowledge from operational data of information-rich ***,it is not reco.mended to directly use the operational data without protection due to the risk of leaking occupants’*** address this problem,this study proposes a federated learning-based method to learn transferable knowledge from building operational data without privacy *** trains a transferable federated model based on the operational data from the buildings similar to the target building with limited *** advanced secure aggregation algorithm is adopted in the training process to ensure that no one can infer private information from the training *** federated model obtained is evaluated by co.paring it with the standalone model without federated learning based on 13 similar office buildings from the Building Data Genome *** results show that the federated model outperforms the standalone model co.cerning the prediction accuracy and training *** average,the federated model achieves a 25.4%decrease in CV-RMSE when the target building has limited operational *** if the target building has no operational data,the federated model still achieves acceptable accuracy(CV-RMSE is 22.2%).Meanwhile,the training time of the federated model is 90%less than that of the standalone *** research insights can help develop federated learning-based methods for solving the data silos problem in building energy *** methodology and analysis procedures are reproducible and all co.es and data sets are available on Github.

Magnetostrictive properties and detection efficiency of TbDyFe/Feco.co.posite materials for nondestructive testing

In order to develop a highly sensitive material for nondestructive testing(NDT),(Tb_(0.3) Dy_(0.7))Fe_(1.95) thin films were deposited on Feco.substrates at room temperature by magnetron sputtering and *** magnetostrictive properties and the detection efficiency of the co.posite films were *** demonstrate that the detection efficiency roughly shows regular co.sistency with the magnetostrictive strain of the TbDyFe films. Heat treatment has a great effect on the crystalline state and the magnetostrictive strain of the co.posite materials. The as-deposited(Tb_(0.3) Dy_(0.7))Fe_(1.95) films are amorphous, and the saturation magnetostriction(ls) is only 90 ppm. However, the nanostructured crystalline REFe2 is partially separated out in amorphous matrix after annealing at 600C for 1 h, and the ls increases to 265 ppm. Simultaneously, the detection efficiency of the co.posite materials is obviously improved co.pared to that of the as-deposited films. The detection signal of traditional Feco.strip is0.4 V at the excitation power of 1.0 P and frequency of 128 kHz and that of the strip increases significantly by depositing one layer of(Tb_(0.3) Dy_(0.7))Fe_(1.95) film. The detection signal of the co.posite material annealed at 600C is the best, even reaching saturation value of 2.5 V(1.0 P, 128 kHz). The results may provide us with a method for preparing new materials for NDT.

High-energy-density lithium(Li)–air cells have been co.sidered a promising energy-storage system,but the liquid electrolyte-related safety and side-reaction problems seriously hinder their *** address these above issues,solid-state Li–air batteries have been widely ***,many co.monly-used solid electrolytes generally face huge interface impedance inLi–air cells and also showpoor stability towards ambient air/Li ***,we fabricate a differentiating surface-regulated ceramic-based co.posite electrolyte(DSCCE)by co.structing disparately LiI-co.taining polymethyl methacrylate(PMMA)co.ting and Poly(vinylidene fluoride-co.hexafluoropropylene)(PVDF-HFP)layer on both sides of Li_(1.5)Al_(0.5)Ge_(1.5)(PO_(4))_(3)(LAGP).The cathode-friendly LiI/PMMA layer displays excellent stability towards superoxide intermediates and also greatly reduces the deco.position voltage of discharge products in Li–air ***,the anode-friendly PVDF-HFP co.ting shows low-resistance properties towards ***,Li dendrite/passivation derived from liquid electrolyte-induced side reactions and air/I-attacking can be obviously suppressed by the uniformand co.pact co.posite *** a result,the DSCCE-based Li–air batteries possess high capacity/low voltage polarization(11,836mAh g^(-1)/1.45Vunder 500mAg^(-1)),good rate performance(capacity ratio under 1000mAg^(-1)/250mAg^(-1) is 68.2%)and longterm stable cell operation(~300 cycles at 750 mA g^(-1) with 750 mAh g^(-1))in ambient air.

A subsystem impactor test for pedestrian lower limb injury evaluation has been brought in China New Car Assessment Protoco.(CNCAP).co.cerning large anthropometric differences of the people from different co.ntries,the present study aims to establish and validate a finite element lower limb model representing 50th Chinese male size for pedestrian safety research,then co.pare its biomechanical responses with the general models currently in wide use in the world for pedestrian safety *** the vehicle-pedestrian impact loading environment,the previously developed lower limb model with three-dimensional muscles was adjusted and validated through the related ***,the biomechanical responses of the validated model were co.pared with the Total Human Model for Safety(THUMS)and Advanced Pedestrian Legform Impactor(aPLI)models by co.bing with four typical *** results showed that both co.sistency and significant differences of biomechanical responses existed between the present model and the other two *** injury measurements of the thigh region of the present model showed extremely large differences with the other two models,while the tibia and Medial co.lateral Ligament(MCL)injury measurements show similar ***,it can be co.cluded that directly using the aPLI or THUMS models for Chinese pedestrian safety evaluation is not robust co.cerning both kinematic responses and injury measurements.

Effect of temperature on electric-thermal properties of semico.ductive shielding layer and insulation layer for high-voltage cable

A semi‐co.ductive shielding layer plays an important role in the uniform electric field for a high‐voltage *** electric‐thermal properties of the semi‐co.ductive layer and insulation layer directly affect the overall insulation performance of the *** physico.hemical performances of semi‐co.ductive co.posites are firstly analysed ***,electric‐thermal properties of the semi‐co.ductive layer and insulation layer are *** experimental results show that the thermal co.ductivity of the co.mercial semi‐co.ductive layer is about twice that of the insulation layer,owing to the effect of carbon *** thermal expansion co.fficient of the insulation layer rises from 1.86×10^(−4)/K at 25℃ to 3.20×10^(−4)/K at 90℃.By co.trast,the semi‐co.ductive layer begins to slowly decline at a certain temperature,and decreases signif-icantly to 2.25×10^(−4)/K at 80℃,owing to the effect of ethylene‐vinyl acetate co.olymer(EVA).The electrical experiments show that the resistivity of semi‐co.ductive co.posite gradually rises with an increase in temperature,and gradually declines with an increase in the carbon black *** dc breakdown strength of the co.posite structure of the semi‐co.ductive layer/insulation layer decreases significantly with an increase in tem-perature,decreasing from 307 kV/mm at 25℃ to 203 kV/mm at 90℃.At four typical temperatures,the breakdown strength reaches the maximum value when the carbon black co.tent is 25 *** is about 15%and 19%higher than carbon black co.tents of 20 and 30 *** findings have reference significance for high‐voltage cable breakdown fault analysis and material selection in cable design.

Step-stress Accelerated Degradation Test Modeling and Statistical Analysis Methods

In order to get a rapid assessment on the storage reliability of high-reliable and long-life products within the storage period, accelerated degradation test data with a large amount of reliability information of product is adopted. co.ducting a co.stant-stress accelerated degradation test（CSADT） is generally very co.tly as it requires a large sample size and long time for test. To overco.e this problem, it is necessary to carry out research on modeling and statistical analysis methods of step-stress accelerated degradation test （SSADT）. Taking electrical co.nectors as the object, a research is co.ducted on statistical model and assessment method for SSADT. On the basis of mixed-effect degradation path model, the statistical model of SSADT for electrical co.nectors is presented, the maximum likelihood method for SSADT data based on mixed-effect degradation model is proposed. SSADT accelerated by temperature stress is co.ducted to Y11X-1419 type of electrical co.nectors, and the storage reliability is assessed with the SSADT data. co.pared with the result obtained from accelerated life test, the reliability estimation of 32-year storage period for electrical co.nectors obtained from S SADT data only have a difference of 0.869%, which validates the accuracy of the degradation model and the feasibility of the test data statistic analysis method put forward.

Investigation of the Substituent Effects on π-Type Pnico.en Bond Interaction

Intermolecular interactions between PH2Cl and Ar–R（R = H,OH,NH2,CH3,Br,Cl,F,CN,NO2） were calculated by using MP2/aug-cc-p VDZ quantum chemical *** has been shown from our calculations that the aromatic rings with electron-withdrawing groups represent much weaker binding affinities than those with electron-donating *** charge-transfer interaction between PH2Cl and Ar–R plays an important role in the formation of pnico.en bond co.plexes,as revealed by NBO ***,AIM analysis shows that the nature of the interactions between PH2Cl and Ar–R is electrostatic,and the interaction energies of the co.plexes are co.related positively with the electron densities in the bond critical points（BCPs）.RDG/ELF graphical analyses were performed to visualize the positions and strengths of the pnico.en bonding,as well as the spatial change of the electron localization upon the formation of *** π-type halogen bond was also calculated,and it has been revealed that the π-type pnico.en bond systems are more stable than the halogen bond ones.
