Effect of artificial natural light on the development of myopia among primary school-age children in China:a three-year longitudinal study

AIM:To assess the efficacy of artificial natural light in preventing incident myopia in primary school-age ***:This is a prospective,randomized control,intervention study.A total of 1840 students from 39 classes in 4 primary schools in Foshan participated in this *** whole randomization method was adopted to include classes as a group according to 1:1 randomized *** in the control group were illuminated by usual light,and classrooms in the intervention group were illuminated by artificial natural *** students received uncorrected visual acuity and best-corrected visual acuity measurement,non-cycloplegic autorefraction,ocular biometric examination,slit lamp and strabismus ***-year follow-up,the students underwent same *** was defined as spherical equivalent refraction≤-0.50 D and uncorrected visual acuity<20/***:There were 894 students in the control group and 946 students in the intervention group with a mean±SD age of 7.50±*** three-year cumulative incidence rate of myopia was 26.4%(207 incident cases among 784 eligible participants at baseline)in the control group and 21.2%(164 incident cases among 774 eligible participants at baseline)in the intervention group[difference of 5.2%(95%CI,3.7%to 10.1%);P=0.035].There was also a significant difference in the three-year change in spherical equivalent refraction for the control group(-0.81 D)compared with the intervention group[-0.63 D;difference of 0.18 D(95%CI,0.08 to 0.28 D);P<0.001].Elongation of axial length was significantly different between in the control group(0.77 mm)and the intervention group[0.72 mm;difference of 0.05 mm(95%CI,0.01 to 0.09 mm);P=0.003].CONCLUSION:Artificial natural light in the classroom of primary schools can result in reducing incidence rate of myopia during a period of three years.

Birds exhibit a high degree of migratory diversity,which is influenced by various ecological factors and life history *** studies on tropical bird migration,of which research is scarce,and comparing it with temperate birds can enhance our understanding of bird migration behaviour and its underlying *** this study,we explored the migration behaviour of a breeding population of the Barn Swallow(Hirundo rustica)in zhanjiang,southern China,a region located in the northern tropics,using light-level *** 2021 to 2023,we deployed geolocators on 92 breeding swallows and retrieved geolocators successfully from 23 *** swallows all exhibited migratory behaviour,and wintering on various islands in Southeast *** displayed sex differences in their wintering *** males concentrated in Borneo,while females primarily chose Borneo but also dispersed to the Philippines,South China Sea,and Vietnam for *** studied swallow population adopted a seasonal migration pattern of“indirect in autumn,direct in spring”,bypassing the ecological barrier of the South China Sea in autumn and tending to directly cross it in spring ***,the distance and duration of autumn migration was significantly longer than those of the spring *** to temperate Barn Swallows,the Barn Swallow population breeding in zhanjiang adopts a pattern of“intra-tropical migration”and initiates autumn migration *** formation of their migration pattern may be limited by ecological and physiological factors.

Three zinc(Ⅱ),cobalt(Ⅱ),and nickel(Ⅱ)coordination polymers,namely[Zn(μ^(3-)cpna)(μ-dpea)_(0.5)]_(n)(1),[Co(μ^(3-)cpna)(μ-dpey)_(0.5)]_(n)(2),and[Ni(μ^(3-)cpna)(μ-dpey)_(0.5)(H_(2)O)]_(n)(3),have been constructed hydrothermally using H_(2)cpna(5-(4-carboxyphenoxy)nicotinic acid),dpea(1,2-di(4-pyridyl)ethane),dpey(1,2-di(4-pyridyl)ethylene),and zinc,cobalt,and nickel chlorides at 160℃.The products were isolated as stable crystalline solids and were characterized by IR spectra,elemental analyses,thermogravimetric analyses,and single-crystal X-ray diffraction ***-crystal X-ray diffraction analyses revealed that three compounds crystallize in the triclinic system,space group *** 1-3 show 2D layer *** catalytic activities in the Knoevenagel condensation reaction of these compounds were *** 1 and 2 exhibit effective catalytic activities in the Knoevenagel condensa-tion reaction at room *** this reaction,various parameters were optimized,followed by the investiga-tion of the substrate ***:2335676,1;2335677,2;2335678,3.

A quantitative study on source rocks in the western Leidong depression, northern South China Sea

The Leidong depression is one of the secondary tectonic units and the least explored part of the Beibu Gulf Basin,northern South China *** activities in the basin reveal that the Middle Eocene deposition was controlled by NE-SW-striking faults and the second member of the Eocene Liushagang Formation(LII)consists of high-quality source *** nature and origin of this depression has remained enigmatic due to the complex fault structures as compared to those in other *** is important to identify whether LII occurs in the Leidong depression in the context of *** we analyze available geological,seismic,and drilling data of the depression and the controlling factors among faults,deposition,lithology,and hydrocarbon distribution in the *** such as stress fracture analysis,fault growth index analysis,and sedimentary strata characterization were used to construct an Eocene sedimentary model controlled by NW-SE striking *** model with integrated seismic profile characteristics comparison and velocity analysis results was then used to determine whether the Eocene strata in the west of the depression contain the high-quality source rocks that are widely distributed elsewhere in the ***,calculations were performed to quantify the intensity of hydrocarbon generation and amount of hydrocarbon generated in the depression based on available data of the source rocks,including their distribution and *** results confirmed the assumption that the Middle Eocene strata in the Leidong depression were controlled by NW-SE strike-slip faults and contain high-quality LII source rocks,thus providing an important foundation for future exploration.

[Objectives]This study was conducted to understand the structure and function of MsrA protein.[Methods]With Vibrio alginolyticus HY9901 as the object of study,primers were designed to amplify the full-length gene of msrA,and its bioinformatics analysis was carried out.[Results]The full length of msrA gene was 639 bp,encoding 212 amino acids,and its theoretical molecular weight was about 23729.60 *** protein had a stable structure,and it was hydrophobic *** structure of signal peptides at the N terminal of the amino acid sequence was predicted,and it was found that there was no signal peptide cleavage site and no transmembrane *** amino acid sequence of MsrA contained multiple signal binding *** subcellular localization showed that MsrA protein was most likely located in the *** analysis showed that MsrA of *** had high homology with other Vibrio species,and the highest homology with *** the prediction of functional domains,MsrA had the function of methionine sulfoxide *** secondary structure prediction,MsrA contained random coils at a proportion of 46.70%,which was the *** similarity between the tertiary structure model of MsrA and template Q87SW6.1.A was 89.15%.PTM analysis showed that MsrA protein had many PTM modification sites such as phosphorylation and glycosylation sites.[Conclusions]This study provides some reference value for further study on the role of MsrA in bacterial antioxidant stress.

[Objectives]This study was conducted to explore the biological functions of cyaA gene of Vibrio alginolyticus.[Methods]With DNA of *** HY 9901 as a template,primers were designed according to the sequence of cyaA gene,and the cyaA gene was amplified by *** analysis was performed.[Results]The cyaA gene of *** HY9901 was 2529 bp in size,and encoded 842 amino *** molecular structure of CyaA protein was C_(4358)H_(6745)N_(1171)O_(1286)S_(35).Its theoretical molecular weight was 97.24167 kDa and the theoretical pI value was *** had no signal peptide and transmembrane *** protein had three N-terminal glycosylation sites,one cAMP and cGMP-dependent protein kinase phosphorylation site,nine protein kinase C phosphorylation sites,nine casein kinase II phosphorylation sites,one tyrosine kinase phosphorylation site,seven N-terminal myristoylation sites,one pentenyl binding site and ten microbody C-terminal localization signal *** localization prediction showed that CyaA protein was mainly located in the nucleus and *** multi-sequence alignment and phylogenetic tree construction,it was concluded that *** had high CyaA homology with other Vibrio *** of *** was clustered with Vibrio fluminensis and Vibrio marinisedimini,and they were closely *** secondary structure of CyaA protein consisted ofα-helixes(43.11%),random coils(38.00%)and extended strands(14.49%).In protein network interaction,it was found that the proteins adjacent to CyaA protein were Crp-2,CpdA,Crr,PtsG-2,ANP67209.1,Crp-1,PykF,Pyk,RelA and Ndk.[Conclusions]This study provides a new idea for formulating strategies for the prevention and control of vibriosis.

Tissue-resident macrophages exacerbate lung injury after remote sterile damage

Remote organ injury,which is a common secondary complication of sterile tissue damage,is a major cause of poor prognosis and is difficult to ***,we report the critical role of tissue-resident macrophages in lung injury after trauma or stroke through the inflammatory *** found that depleting tissue-resident macrophages rather than disrupting the recruitment of monocyte-derived macrophages attenuated lung injury after trauma or *** findings revealed that the release of circulating alarmins from sites of distant sterile tissue damage triggered an inflammatory response in lung-resident macrophages by binding to receptor for advanced glycation end products(RAGE)on the membrane,which activated epidermal growth factor receptor(EGFR).Mechanistically,ligand-activated RAGE triggered EGFR activation through an interaction,leading to Rab5-mediated RAGE internalization and EGFR phosphorylation,which subsequently recruited and activated P38;this,in turn,promoted RAGE translation and trafficking to the plasma membrane to increase the cellular response to RAGE ligands,consequently exacerbating *** study also showed that the loss of RAGE or EGFR expression by adoptive transfer of macrophages,blocking the function of RAGE with a neutralizing antibody,or pharmacological inhibition of EGFR activation in macrophages could protect against trauma-or stroke-induced remote lung ***,our study revealed that targeting the RAGE-EGFR signaling pathway in tissue-resident macrophages is a potential therapeutic approach for treating secondary complications of sterile damage.
