Plasma Edge Kinetic-MHD Modeling in Tokamaks Using Kepler Workflow for Code Coupling,Data Management and Visualization

A new predictive computer simulation tool targeting the development of the H-mode pedestal at the plasma edge in tokamaks and the triggering and dynamics of edge localizedmodes(ELMs)is presented in this *** tool brings together,in a coordinated and effective manner,several first-principles physics simulation codes,stability analysis packages,and data processing and visualization tools.A Kepler workflow is used in order to carry out an edge plasma simulation that loosely couples the kinetic code,XGC0,with an ideal MHD linear stability analysis code,ELITE,and an extended MHD initial value code such as M3D or ***0 includes the neoclassical ion-electron-neutral dynamics needed to simulate pedestal growth near the *** Kepler workflow processes the XGC0 simulation results into simple images that can be selected and displayed via the Dashboard,a monitoring tool implemented in AJAX allowing the scientist to track computational resources,examine running and archived jobs,and view key physics data,all within a standard Web *** XGC0 simulation is monitored for the conditions needed to trigger an ELM crash by periodically assessing the edge plasma pressure and current density profiles using the ELITE *** an ELM crash is triggered,the Kepler workflow launches the M3D code on a moderate-size Opteron cluster to simulate the nonlinear ELM crash and to compute the relaxation of plasma profiles after the *** process is monitored through periodic outputs of plasma fluid quantities that are automatically visualized with AVS/Express and may be displayed on the ***,the Kepler workflow archives all data outputs and processed images using HPSS,as well as provenance information about the software and hardware used to create the *** complete process of preparing,executing and monitoring a coupled-code simulation of the edge pressure pedestal buildup and the ELM cycle using the Kepler scientific workflow system is described

Background:Esophageal squamous cell carcinoma(ESCC)is the predominant subtype of esophageal carcinoma in *** study was to develop a staging model to predict outcomes of patients with ***:Using Cox regression analysis,principal component analysis(PCA),partitioning clustering,Kaplan-Meier analysis,receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve analysis,and classification and regression tree(CART)analysis,we mined the Gene Expression Omnibus database to determine the expression profiles of genes in 179 patients with ESCC from GSE63624 and GSE63622 ***:Univariate cox regression analysis of the GSE63624 dataset revealed that 2404 protein-coding genes(PCGs)and 635 long non-coding RNAs(lncRNAs)were associated with the survival of patients with *** categorized these PCGs and lncRNAs into three principal components(PCs),which were used to cluster the patients into three *** analysis demonstrated that the predictive ability of PCG-lncRNA PCs when applied to new patients was better than that of the tumor-node-metastasis staging(area under ROC curve[AUC]:0.69 vs.0.65,P<0.05).Accord-ingly,we constructed a molecular disaggregated model comprising one lncRNA and two PCGs,which we desig-nated as the LSB staging model using CART analysis in the GSE63624 *** LSB staging model classified the GSE63622 dataset of patients into three different groups,and its effectiveness was validated by analysis of another cohort of 105 ***:The LSB staging model has clinical significance for the prognosis prediction of patients with ESCC and may serve as a three-gene staging microarray.

Energy-Efficient Beamforming for Two-Tier Massive MIMO Downlink

Heterogeneous networks(HetNets)consisting of macro cells with very large antenna arrays and a secondary tier of small cells with a few antennas each can well tackle the contradiction of large coverage of the network and high data rate at the hot ***,it is not permissible to assign orthogonal pilot sequences for all the supported users due to the large ***,we propose a pilot reduction scheme based on the heterogeneous system configurations and the unique topology of this *** reusing of pilot sequences causes the presence of the contaminated channel state information(CSI) and results in receivers' Quality of Service(QoS) *** the contaminated CSI,we provide an energy-efficient beamforming based on minimizing the total power consumption while keeping the QoS constraints satisfied and restricting the QoS outage probability below a given *** applying the approach of Bernstein approximation and semi-definite relaxation,we transform the original intractable chance constrained program to a convex problem *** results show that the average power consumption of the proposed beamforming for our pilot reduction scheme is close to that of the perfect CSI *** our scheme will greatly compress the length of pilot sequence especially for those highly densified network with large number of small cells,it will be crucially helpful to put such two-tier massive multiple-input and multiple-output(MIMO) systems into practice.

With the rapid growth of unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV),there is now an increasing interest in the security of UAV *** exist various attacks which have threatened the security of UAV systems,in terms of the global navigation satellite system(GNSS)*** of multiple UAVs,the flying ad hoc networks(FANET)have been studied to extend the employment and coverage of UAV *** on the connectivity and information interaction of FANET,in this article,the blockchain technology is applied to detect GNSS signal attacks for UAV *** particular,we first introduce an overview of the GNSS security of UAV systems and the principles for blockchain *** on the principles,a logical architecture is proposed,where blockchain is taken into consideration for GNSS spoofing *** analysis verifies that the proposed GNSS spoofing detection system can be used ***,several challenges in blockchain are discussed,including security,cost,and regulation.

Mining Data Correlation from Multi-Faceted Sensor Data in Internet of Things

Sensors are ubiquitous in the Internet of Things for measuring and collecting data. Analyzing these data derived from sensors is an essential task and can reveal useful latent information besides the data. Since the Internet of Things contains many sorts of sensors, the measurement data collected by these sensors are multi-type data, sometimes contai- ning temporal series information. If we separately deal with different sorts of data, we will miss useful information. This paper proposes a method to dis- cover the correlation in multi-faceted data, which contains many types of data with temporal informa- tion, and our method can simultaneously deal with multi-faceted data. We transform high-dimensional multi-faeeted data into lower-dimensional data which is set as multivariate Gaussian Graphical Models, then mine the correlation in multi-faceted data by discover the structure of the multivariate Gausslan Graphical Models. With a real data set, we verifies our method, and the experiment demonstrates that the method we propose can correctly fred out the correlation among multi-faceted meas- urement data.

Nonbinary polar coding with low decoding latency and complexity

In this paper,we propose a new class of nonbinary polar codes,where the symbol-level polarization is achieved by using a 2×2 q-ary matrix[10β1]as the *** bit-level code construction,some partially-frozen symbols exist,where the frozen bits in these symbols can be used as activecheck bits to facilitate the *** encoder/decoder of the proposed codes has a similar structure to the original binary polar codes,admitting an easily configurable and flexible implementation,which is an obvious advantage over the existing nonbinary polar codes based on ReedSolomon(RS)codes.A low-complexity decoding method is also introduced,in which only more competitive symbols are considered rather than the whole q symbols in the finite *** support high spectral efficiency,we also present,in addition to the single level coded modulation scheme with field-matched modulation order,a mixed multilevel coded modulation scheme with arbitrary modulation in order to trade off the latency against *** results show that our proposed nonbinary polar codes exhibit comparable performance with the RS4-based polar codes and outperform binary polar codes with low decoding latency,suggesting a potential application for future ultra-reliable and low-latency communications(URLLC).

Priority-Based Resource Scheduling in Hybrid-Access LTE Femtocell

Femtocell technology is an emerging solution that is promising for improving indoor coverage problems and enhancing cell *** a femtocell network,the overall system performance depends on the access method utilized,which specifies whether a specific user equipment can connect to the femtocell *** access meth-ods are defined for long-term evolution(LTE)femtocell networks:open access,closed access and hybrid *** fair and effective use of resources,hybrid access is *** some of the resources are shared among nonregistered users,it is essential to regulate their scheduling *** study investigates resource scheduling for femtocell networks in hybrid access mode,which gives preferential access to the high-priority traffic of ***-priority traffic metric(THP)is calculated for high-priority users,and low-priority traffic metric(TLP)is calculated for low-priority ***,individual sorted lists are formed for(THP)and(TLP).Nonsubscribers from the(THP)list are allocated initially,after which UEs from the(TLP)list are chosen for allocation based on resource availability,thereby increasing the overall average throughput of high-priority users in a network.
