A critical challenge hindering the practical application of lithium–oxygen batteries(LOBs)is the inevitable problems associated with liquid electrolytes,such as evaporation and safety *** study addresses these problems by proposing a modified polyrotaxane(mPR)-based solid polymer electrolyte(SPE)design that simultaneously mitigates solvent-related problems and improves ***-SPE exhibits high ion conductivity(2.8×10^(−3)S cm^(−1)at 25℃)through aligned ion conduction pathways and provides electrode protection ability through hydrophobic chain *** this mPR-SPE into solid-state LOBs resulted in stable potentials over 300 *** situ Raman spectroscopy reveals the presence of an LiO_(2)intermediate alongside Li_(2)O_(2)during oxygen *** situ X-ray diffraction confirm the ability of the SPE to hinder the permeation of oxygen and moisture,as demonstrated by the air permeability *** present study suggests that maintaining a low residual solvent while achieving high ionic conductivity is crucial for restricting the sub-reactions of solid-state LOBs.

Carbon fibre,steel fibre and graphite were used as conductive fillers to prepare cementitious materials with excellent electrothermal *** electrically conductive cementitious materials with different volume dosages were analysed through compressive and flexural strength,electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and temperature rise *** equivalent circuit model was established to study the electrically conductive heat generation mechanism in the electrically conductive cementitious *** results indicate that the mechanical properties of cementitious composite materials with a ternary conductive phase are better than those of pristine cementitious materials because the fibrous filler improves their mechanical ***,the incorporation of graphite in the material reduces its *** fibrous and point-like conductive phase materials into the cementitious material enhances the overall conductive pathway and considerably reduces the electrical resistance of the cementitious material,enhancing its conductive *** volume ratios of carbon fibre,steel fibre and graphite that achieve an optimal complex doping in the cementitious material were 0.35%,0.6% and 6%,*** was determined using the mutation point of each circuit element parameter as the percolation *** addition,at a certain safety voltage,there is a uniform change between the internal and surface temperatures of the conductive cementitious material,and the heating effect in this materialis is considerably better than that in the pristine cementitious material.

The coupled level-set and volume of fluid(CLSVOF)method is an advanced interface-capturing method that has been extended to handle overset grid ***,artificial uneven interface may be observed across block boundaries of different sizes and *** present an improved inter-grid VOF interpolation and mass correction scheme to address the *** demonstrate the capability of the improved CLSVOF method,it is applied to the simulation of a container ship in pitch and heave motions under both head sea and following sea irregular wave *** simulation proves that the improved CLSVOF method is capable of revealing detailed physics difficult to see with other *** phenomena simulated in our work include the extensive greenwater propagation on the ship deck,the breakup of overtopping waves into small droplets,and the formation and collapse of air pockets in sudden bow and stern slamming which cause strong and highly localized impacts on the ship bow,stern,and rudder.

In this context,two different approaches of soil liquefaction evaluation using a soft computing technique based on the worldwide standard penetration test(SPT) databases have been *** expression programming(GEP) as a gray-box modeling approach is used to develop different deterministic models in order to evaluate the occurrence of soil liquefaction in terms of liquefaction field performance indicator(LI) and factor of safety(FS) in logistic regression and classification *** comparative plots illustrate that the classification concept-based models show a better performance than those based on logistic *** the probabilistic approach,a calibrated mapping function is developed in the context of Bayes’ theorem in order to capture the failure probabilities(PL) in the absence of the knowledge of parameter *** results obtained from the proposed probabilistic models,compared to the most well-known models,indicate the robustness of the methodology used in this *** probability models provide a simple,but also efficient decision-making tool in engineering design to quantitatively assess the liquefaction triggering thresholds.

A large number of communities are impacted annually by the increasing frequency of tornado hazards resulting in damage to the infrastructure as well as disruption of community *** effect of the hazard geometry(center and angle of tornado path as well as the tornado width)is studied herein on how it influences the recovery of physical and social systems within the *** that pre-disaster preparedness including mitigation strategies(e.g.,retrofits)and policies(e.g.,insurance)is crucial for increasing the resilience of the community and facilitating a faster recovery process,in this study,the impact of various mitigation strategies and policies on the recovery trajectory and resilience of a typical US community subjected to a tornado is investigated considering different sources of *** virtual testbed of Centerville is selected in this paper and is modeled by adopting the Agent-based modeling(ABM)approach which is a powerful tool for conducting community resilience analysis that simulates the behavior of different types of agents and their interactions to capture their *** results are presented in the form of recovery time series as well as calculated resilience indices for various community systems(lifeline networks,schools,healthcare,businesses,and households).The results of this study can help deepen our understanding of how to efficiently expedite the recovery process of a community.

The community’s resilience in the face of natural hazards relies heavily on the rapid and efficient restoration of electric power networks,which plays a critical role in emergency response,economic recovery,and the func-tionality of essential lifeline and social infrastructure *** the recent data revolution,the digital twin(DT)concept emerges as a promising tool to enhance the effectiveness of post-disaster recovery *** paper introduces a novel framework for post-hurricane electric power restoration using a hybrid DT approach that combines physics-based and data-driven models by utilizing a dynamic Bayesian *** capturing the complexities of power system dynamics and incorporating the road network’s influence,the framework offers a comprehensive methodology to guide real-time power restoration efforts in post-disaster scenarios.A discrete event simulation is conducted to demonstrate the proposed framework’s *** study showcases how the electric power restoration DT can be monitored and updated in real-time,reflecting changing conditions and facilitating adaptive ***,it demonstrates the framework’s flexibility to allow decision-makers to prioritize essential,residential,and business facilities and compare different restoration plans and their potential effect on the community.

With noticing an increasing number of failure events for offshore structures in the present days, it is now realized that modeling the marine environment especially for exceptional environmental conditions is quite important. It is recognized that a possible improvement in the traditional modeling of environmental characteristics, which are the basis for the load models for structural analysis and design, may be needed. In this paper, the seasonal and directional varying properties in modeling the ocean parameter, the wave height, are studied. The peak over threshold（POT） method is selected to model the extreme wave height by utilizing a non-stationary discrete statistical extreme model. The varying parameters are taken into account with a changing pattern to reflect the seasonal and directional dependent behavior. Both the magnitude and the occurrence rate of the extreme values are investigated. Detailed discussion on the continuity of the established model is also given. The importance of the proposed model is demonstrated in reliability analysis for a jacket structure. The sensitivity to the changing marine environment in reliability analyses is investigated.

Abutment behavior significantly influences the seismic response of certain bridge structures. Specifically in the case of short bridges with relatively stiff superstructures typical of highway overpasses, embankment mobilization and inelastic behavior of the soil material under high shear deformation levels dominate the response of the bridge and its column bents. This paper investigates the sensitivity of bridge seismic response with respect to three different abutment modeling approaches. The abutment modeling approaches are based on three increasing levels of complexity that attempt to capture the critical components and modes of abutment response without the need to generate continuum models of the embankment, approach, and abutment foundations. Six existing reinforced concrete bridge structures, typical of Ordinary Bridges in California, are selected for the analysis. Nonlinear models of the bridges are developed in OpenSees. Three abutment model types of increasing complexity are developed for each bridge, denoted as roller, simplified, and spring abutments. The roller model contains only single-point constraints. The spring model contains discrete representations of backfill, bearing pad, shear key, and back wall behavior. The simplified model is a compromise between the efficient roller model and the comprehensive spring model. Modal, pushover, and nonlinear dynamic time history analyses are conducted for the six bridges using the three abutment models for each bridge. Comparisons of the analysis results show major differences in mode shapes and periods, ultimate base shear strength, as well as peak displacements of the column top obtained due to dynamic excitation. The adequacy of the three abutment models used in the study to realistically represent all major resistance mechanisms and components of the abutments, including an accurate estimation of their mass, stiffness, and nonlinear hysteretic behavior, is evaluated. Experience from past earthquakes has demonstrated the need to account for design goals beyond safety,known as functional recovery objectives,in the interest of community *** have been proposed in the literature to assess the post-earthquake functional recovery of a building,but without accounting for utility systems’disruption,which may be a key contributor to determining when a building is *** paper integrates a previously proposed probabilistic method for estimating the post-earthquake restoration of critical utility services with an individual building’s functional recovery assessment *** integration was performed by incorporating utilities into the building system fault trees embedded into a functional recovery framework for various building occupancies(residential and commercial office buildings).Once incorporated,the results are used to interrogate the functional recovery of a reinforced concrete building,and the recovery time results were presented for seven cases investigating contributing factors in the functional recovery results including the number of crews available for lifeline restoration,the effect of low-quality service on meeting tenant requirements for elevators,heating ventilation and air conditioning(HVAC),plumbing and electrical systems,consideration of fire watch,the effect of building seismic retrofit,as well as different cases of fragility functions for the lifeline *** showed that utility systems’disruption does not have a significant impact on the recoccupancy of a building because only one utility-dependent building system(fire suppression)is needed for the building’s *** reoccupancy,utility systems are significant for functional recovery,mainly at moderate hazard levels because,at these levels,lifeline networks could be damaged without significant building damage,such that the lifeline systems restoration *** with more restrictive tenant requirements are more sen
