Background: Post-hepatectomy liver failure(PHLF) is a leading cause of postoperative mortality after liver surgery. Due to its significant impact, it is imperative to understand the risk stratification and preventative strategies for PHLF. The main objective of this review is to highlight the role of these strategies in a timeline centered way around curative resection. Data sources: This review includes studies on both humans and animals, where they addressed PHLF. A literature search was conducted across the Cochrane Library, Embase, MEDLINE/Pub Med, and Web of Knowledge electronic databases for English language studies published between July 1997 and June 2020. Studies presented in other languages were equally considered. The quality of included publications was assessed using Downs and Black’s checklist. The results were presented in qualitative summaries owing to the lack of studies qualifying for quantitative analysis. Results: This systematic review with 245 studies, provides insight into the current prediction, prevention, diagnosis, and management options for PHLF. This review highlighted that liver volume manipulation is the most frequently studied preventive measure against PHLF in clinical practice, with modest improvement in the treatment strategies over the past decade. Conclusions: Remnant liver volume manipulation is the most consistent preventive measure against PHLF.

Research and critique of unbuilt or destroyed works of architecture is traditionally carried out through the examination of surviving information such as drawings, models, photographs, biographies and monographs. The case study presented here demonstrates that this approach cannot always give a fuU-picture of the architect or designer＇s intentions, and may miss inconsistencies in the design and links to other precedents or antecedents in such schemes. Here, we employ strategic contemporary digital representation techniques to re-present and re-analyse the evidence available for a particular architectural project. We describe a systematic methodology, which shows that these techniques can challenge or enhance current understanding. The focus therefore is on the digital re-analysis process that has been devised. Sir Edwin Lutyens＇ unbuilt Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral design, that would have delivered one of the largest cathedrals in the world, is used as a case study. The findings reveal new information about the cathedral by following structured lines of enquiry generated from the study of primary and secondary source data, as well as serendipitous results that occur as a potential by-product of the methodological process.

Genesis of the Changba–Lijiagou Giant Pb-zn Deposit, West Qinling, Central China: Constraints from S-Pb-C-O isotopes

The extensive Changba-Lijiagou Pb-zn deposit is located in the north of the Xihe–Chengxian ore cluster in West Qinling. The ore bodies are mainly hosted in the marble, dolomitic marble and biotite-calcite-quartz schist of the Middle Devonian Anjiacha Formation, and are structurally controlled by the fault and anticline. The ore-forming process can be divided into three main stages, based on field geological features and mineral assemblages. The mineral assemblages of hydrothermal stage I are pale-yellow coarse grain, low Fe sphalerite, pyrite with pits, barite and biotite. The mineral assemblages of hydrothermal stage II are black-brown cryptocrystalline, high Fe shalerite, pyrite without pits, marcasite or arsenopyrite replace the pyrite with pits, K-feldspar. The features of hydrothermal stage III are calcite-quartz-sulfide vein cutting the laminated, banded ore body. Forty-two sulfur isotope analyses, twenty-five lead isotope analyses and nineteen carbon and oxygen isotope analyses were determined on sphalerite, pyrite, galena and calcite. The δ34 S values of stage I(20.3 to 29.0‰) are consistent with the δ34 S of sulfate(barite) in the stratum. Combined with geological feature, inclusion characteristics and EPMA data, we propose that TSR has played a key role in the formation of the sulfides in stage I. The δ34 S values of stage II sphalerite and pyrite(15.1 to 23.0‰) are between sulfides in the host rock, magmatic sulfur and the sulfate(barite) in the stratum. This result suggests that multiple S reservoirs were the sources for S2-in stage II. The δ34 S values of stage III(13.1 to 22‰) combined with the structure of the geological and mineral features suggest a magmatic hydrothermal origin of the mineralization. The lead isotope compositions of the sulfides have 206 Pb/204 Pb ranging from 17.9480 to 17.9782, 207 Pb/204 Pb ranging from 15.611 to 15.622, and 208 Pb/204 Pb ranging from 38.1368 to 38.1691 in the three ore-forming stages. Therapy of Helicobacter pylori(***)requires a combination of antibiotics together with an acid suppressing agent;most treatment regimens include Amoxicillin as one of the antibiotics,which is an important constituent as resistance to it is ***,allergies to the penicillin group of antibiotics are not uncommon,and treating *** infection in such individuals can be challenging due to the restricted choice of *** aim of this review is to summarise the evidence for therapeutic options in patients with *** infection and penicillin allergy.A literature search was conducted in PubMed for English language publications using the key words‘Helicobacter’and‘treatment’or‘therapy‘and‘penicillin’or‘beta-lactam’and‘allergy’or‘anaphylaxis’.Eighteen studies were identified that specifically evaluated *** treatment success in penicillin allergic *** number of subjects in most of them was low and many were retrospective,uncontrolled,single cohort *** most effective option for first-line treatment appears to be Bismuth-based quadruple therapy for 10-14 *** evidence supports second-line treatment with Levoflaxacin-based triple therapy for 10 *** with persistent *** infection after 2 treatment courses should be considered for testing to confirm penicillin *** treatment should be guided by the results of *** culture and sensitivity testing.

The super large Pb zn deposit at Fankou is very complex in metallogenic mechanism. Syngenetic brine sedimentation, hot submarine spring eruption—accumulation, syngenetic sedimentation—vadose brine replacement had been supposed as the genetic models before. Under these models, syngenetic mineralization should be dominant in ore formation. However, a series of geological and geochemical properties investigated by authors of this paper are contrary to these models. Therefore, the authors here suggest that this deposit is a typical polygenetic compound ore deposit which share the properties of multistages of geotectonic evolution, multifactors of mineralization control, multisystem of material derivation of mineralization, multimodes of mineralization and multitypes of genesis.

Currently there is renewed interest in harnessing the vast tidal resource to combat the twin challenges of climate change and energy ***,within the UK no tidal barrage proposals have passed the development stage,this is due to a combination of high cost and environmental *** paper demonstrates how a framework,such as the North West Hydro Resource Model can be applied to tidal barrages,with the Mersey barrage as a case *** model materialised in order to provide developers with a toot to successfully identify the capacity of hydropower schemes in a specific location.A key feature of the resource model is the understanding that there is no single barrier to the utilisation of small hydropower but several obstacles,which together impede ***,this paper contributes in part to a fully holistic treatment of tidal barrages,recognising that apart from energy generation,other environmental,societal and economic opportunities arise and must be fully investigated for robust *** study demonstrates how considering the societal needs of the people and the necessity for compensatory habitats,for example,an organic architectural design has developed,which aims to enhance rather than detract from the Mersey.
