Purification performance on molten steel of novel Al_(2)O_(3)-based ceramic filter prepared from microporous powder and nano-Al_(2)O_(3) powder

Reticulated ceramic foam filters provide an effective way to purify molten steel by removing non-metallic *** proposed a novel strategy to improve the purification performance of Al_(2)O_(3)-based ceramic filters by using microporous co.undum-spinel raw materials to replace dense raw *** kinds of Al_(2)O_(3)-based ceramic filters fabricated from dense α-Al_(2)O_(3) micro-powder or microporous co.undum-spinel powder were selected to carry out the immersion tests with molten *** the one hand,the higher surface roughness of the filter skeleton prepared from microporous raw materials increased the adsorption capacity of skeleton surface on inclusions in molten *** the other hand,the higher apparent porosity and larger pore size of the filter skeleton were more beneficial to the penetration of molten steel in the micropores of *** reaction process at the solid-liquid interface also improved the wettability of the interface between skeleton and molten steel,resulting in a larger penetration depth and a better adsorption effect on the *** summary,the novel Al_(2)O_(3)-based ceramic filter prepared with microporous co.undum-spinel powder and addition of 5 wt.% nano-Al_(2)O_(3) powder reduced the total oxygen co.tent of the steel from 40.2×10^(-4) to 12.7×10^(-4) wt.% by 68.4% and the Al co.tent from 0.46 to 0.18 wt.% by 60.9% after immersion test,presenting the most excellent purification performance on molten steel.

Tailoring of a robust asymmetric aramid nanofibers/MXene aerogel film for enhanced infrared thermal camouflage and Joule heating performances

The development of infrared(IR)surveillance technology has led to a growing interest in thermal ***,the trade-off relationship between low IR-emissivity and thermal insulation hinders the advance of thermal camouflage ***,guided by multi-physics simulation,we show a design of asymmetric aramid nanofibers/MXene(ANF/MXene)aerogel film that realizes high-efficient thermal camouflage *** rationale is that the asymmetric structure co.tains a thermal-insulation three-dimensional(3D)network part to prevent effective heat transfer and a low IR-emissivity(~0.3)dense surface layer to suppress radiative heat *** is remarkable that the synergy mechanism in the topology structure co.tributes to over 40%reduction of target radiation ***,the tailored asymmetric ANF/MXene aerogel film also enables sound mechanical properties such as a Young’s modulus of 44.4 MPa and a tensile strength of 1.3 MPa,superior to most aerogel *** also exhibits great Joule heating performances including low driving voltage(4 V),fast thermal response(co.cept to co.figure multifunctional structures for next-generation thermal management applications.

As a type of austenitic stainless steel,316L stainless steel has excellent plasticity,co.rosion resistance,and bioco.patibility,making it widely used in industries,especially in the marine ***,its lower yield strength and wear resistance are the obvious disadvantages that restrict its application in more *** this work,an Fe-based amorphous alloy(Fe^(am))was selected as reinforcement to enhance the 316L stainless steel prepared by selective laser melting(SLM),and microstructure evolution,mechanical properties,tribological and co.rosion performance of the SLMed samples were investigated in *** relative density values of both 316L stainless steel and Fe^(am)-reinforced samples are above 99%,which suggests that Fe^(am)-reinforced samples also have outstanding *** the as-etched micrograph,all of the SLMed samples exhibit cellular ***^(am)-reinforced samples have thicker sub-grain boundaries,and retained amorphous phase can be observed in the samples reinforced with 10 wt%and 15 wt%Fe^(am).As the addition of Fe^(am) increases,the microhardness and co.pression strength of the Fe^(am)-reinforced samples gradually improve and reach 449.2 HV and 2181.9 MPa,*** wear morphologies show that the 316L stainless steel and Fe^(am)-reinforced samples both experience abrasive wear and co.rosion wear in a 3.5 wt%NaCl ***,as the amount of Fe^(am) added increases,the co.fficient of friction and wear rate of SLMed samples gradually *** to the unreinforced sample,Fe^(am)-reinforced samples have lower co.rosion current density and higher pitting potential acco.ding to the potentiodynamic polarization curves and also exhibit superior co.rosion resistance in the salt spray *** work suggests that the addition of Fe-based amorphous alloy can improve the mechanical properties and wear resistance of 316L stainless steel,as well as its ability to withstand salt spray co.rosion.

The high-pressure structure and elastic properties of calcium azide(Ca(N_(3))_(2))were investigated using in-situ highpressure x-ray diffraction and Raman scattering up to 54 GPa and 19 GPa,*** co.pressibility of Ca(N_(3))_(2)changed as the pressure increased,and no phase transition occurred within the pressure from ambient pressure up to 54 *** measured zero-pressure bulk modulus of Ca(N_(3))_(2)is higher than that of other alkali metal azides,due to differences in the ionic character of their metal-azide *** CASTEP,all vibration modes of Ca(N_(3))_(2)were accurately identified in the vibrational spectrum at ambient *** the high-pressure vibration study,several external modes(ext.)and internal bending modes(ν_(2))of azide anions(N_(3)^(-))softened up to~7 GPa and then hardened beyond that *** evidence is co.sistent with the variation observed in the F_(E)–f_(E)data analyzed from the XRD result,where the slope of the curve changes at 7.1 *** main behaviors under pressure are the alternating co.pression,rotation,and bending of N_(3)^(-)*** bending behavior makes the structure of Ca(N_(3))_(2)more stable under pressure.

Effect of droplet characteristics on liquid-phase distribution in spray zone of internal mixing air-mist nozzle

In co.tinuous casting production,droplet characteristics are important parameters for evaluating the nozzle atomization quality,and have a significant impact on the seco.dary co.ling effect and the slab *** order to study the behavior of atomized droplets after reaching the slab surface and to optimize the spray co.ling effect,the influence of droplet diameter and droplet velocity on the migration behavior of droplets in the seco.dary co.ling zone was analyzed by FLUENT *** show that the droplets in the spray zone and on the slab surface are mainly co.centrated in the center,thus,the liquid volume fraction in the center is higher than that of either *** the droplet diameter increases,the region of high liquid volume fraction on the slab surface beco.es wider,and the liquid phase distribution in the slab width direction beco.es *** increasing the droplet velocity at the nozzle exit has little effect on droplet diffusion in the spray zone,the distribution beco.es more uneven due to more liquid reaches the slab surface per unit time.A prediction formula of the maximum water flow rate on the slab surface for specific droplet characteristics was proposed based on dimensionless analysis and validated by simulated data.A nozzle spacing of 210 mm was reco.mended under the working co.ditions in this study,which ensures effective co.erage of the spray water over the slab surface and enhances the distribution uniformity of water flow rate in the transverse direction.

We report a high-stability ultrafast ultraviolet(UV)laser source at 352 nm by exploring an all-fiber,all-polarizationmaintaining(all-PM),Yb-doped femtoseco.d fiber laser at 1060 *** output power,pulse width,and optical spectrum width of the fiber laser are 6 W,244 fs,and 17.5 nm,*** UV ultrashort pulses at a repetition rate of 28.9 MHz are generated by leveraging single-pass seco.d-harmonic generation in a 1.3-mm-long BiB_(3)O_(6)(BIBO)and sum frequency generation in a 5.1-mm-long *** maximum UV output power is 596 *** root mean square error of the output power of UV pulses is 0.54%.This laser,with promising stability,is expected to be a nice source for frontier applications in the UV wavelength window.

Material-SAM:Adapting SAM for Material XCT

X-ray co.puted Tomography(XCT)enables non-destructive acquisition of the internal structure of materials,and image segmentation plays a crucial role in analyzing material XCT *** paper proposes an image segmentation method based on the Segment Anything model(SAM).We co.structed a dataset of carbide in nickel-based single crystal superalloys XCT images and preprocessed the images using median filtering,histogram equalization,and gamma ***,SAM was fine-tuned to adapt to the task of material XCT image segmentation,resulting in *** co.pared the performance of threshold segmentation,SAM,U-Net model,and *** method achieved 88.45%Class Pixel Accuracy(CPA)and 88.77%Dice Similarity co.fficient(DSC)on the test set,outperforming SAM by 5.25%and 8.81%,respectively,and achieving the highest ***-SAM demonstrated lower input requirements co.pared to SAM,as it only required three reference points for co.pleting the segmentation task,which is one-fifth of the requirement of ***-SAM exhibited promising results,highlighting its potential as a novel method for material XCT image segmentation.
