Two Phase Flow Simulation of Fractal oil Reservoir Based on Meshless Method

The reservoir is the networked rock skeleton of an oil and gas trap,as well as the generic term for the fluid contained within pore fractures and karst caves.Heterogeneity and a complex internal pore structure characterize the reservoir rock.By introducing the fractal permeability formula,this paper establishes a fractal mathematical model of oil-water two-phase flow in an oil reservoir with heterogeneity characteristics and numerically solves the mathematical model using the weighted least squares meshless method.Additionally,the method’s correctness is verified by comparison to the exact solution.The numerical results demonstrate that the fractal oil-water two-phase flow mathematical model developed using the meshless method is capable of more accurately and efficiently describing the flow characteristics of the oil-water two-phase migration process.In comparison to the conventional numerical model,this method achieves a greater degree of convergence and stability.This paper examines the effect of varying the initial viscosity of the oil,the initial formation pressure,and the production and injection ratios on daily oil production per well,water cut in the block,and accumulated oil in the block.For 10 and 60 cp initial crude oil viscosities,the water cut can be 0.62 and 0.80,with 3100 and 1900 m^(3)cumulative oil production.Initial pressures have little effect on production.In this case,the daily oil production of well PRO1 is 1.7 m^(3)at 7 and 10 MPa initial pressure.Block cumulative oil production is 3465.4 and 2149.9m^(3)when the production injection ratio is 1.4 and 0.8.The two-phase meshless method described in this paper is essential for a rational and effective study of production dynamics patterns in complex reservoirs and the development of reservoir simulations of oil-water flow in heterogeneous reservoirs.

Characterization of the generalized permeability jail in tight reservoirs by analyzing relative-permeability curves and numerical simulation

This study comprehensively characterizes the boundary values of generalized permeability jail in tight reservoirs through relative-permeability curve analysis,numerical simulation,and economic evaluation.A total number of 108 relative-permeability curves of rock samples from tight reservoirs were obtained,and the characteristics of relative-permeability curves were analyzed.The irreducible water saturation(Swi)mainly ranges from 20% to 70%,and the residual gas saturation(Sgr)ranges from 5% to 15% for 55% of the samples.The relative-permeability curves are categorized into six types(Category-Ⅰ to Ⅵ)by analyzing the following characteristics:The relative permeability of gas at Swi,the relative permeability of water at Sgr,and the relative permeability corresponding to the isotonic point.The relative permeability curves were normalized to facilitate numerical simulation and evaluate the impact of different types of curves on production performance.The results of simulation show significant difference in production performance for different types of relative-permeability curves:Category-Ⅰ corresponds to the case with best well performance,whereas Categories-Ⅴ and Ⅵ correspond to the cases with least production volume.The results of economic evaluation show a generalized permeability jail for Categories-Ⅳ,Ⅴ,and Ⅵ,and the permeability jail develops when the relative permeability of gas and water is below 0.06.This study further quantifies the range of micro-pore parameters corresponding to the generalized permeability jail for a tight sandstone reservoir.

Modular zonal fluid sampling and pressure testing technology for production well

To accurately obtain development dynamic data such as zonal pressure and fluid parameters of each oil layer in the late development stage of a high water-cut old oilfield, a modular zonal sampling and testing technology with the characteristics of modularization, full electronic control and rapidity was proposed and developed. Lab testing and on-site testing was carried out. The modular zonal sampling and testing system is composed of 10 functional modules, namely ground control system, downhole power supply module, drainage pump, electronically controlled anchor, electronically controlled packer, electronically controlled sampler, magnetic positioning sub, terminal sub, adapter cable, and quick connector. Indoor tests have confirmed that the performance parameters of each module meet the design requirements. The downhole function modules of the system can withstand pressures up to 35 MPa and temperatures up to 85 ℃. The rubber cylinder of the electronically controlled packer can withstand a pressure difference of more than 10 MPa. The electronically controlled anchor has an anchoring force of greater than 6.9 t, and can be forcibly detached in the event of an accident. The discharge pump has a displacement of 0.8 m;/d and a head of 500 m. The electronically controlled sampler can meet the requirement of taking 500 mL of sample in each of the 3 chambers. Field tests in jilin oilfield show that the system can realize rapid isolation and self-check of isolation of a certain production interval downhole, as well as layer-by layer pressure build-up test. The drainage pump can be used to discharge the mixed liquid between the upper and lower packers and near the wellbore to obtain real fluid samples of the tested formation interval. The data obtained give us better understanding on the pay zones in old oilfields, and provide important basis for development plan adjustment, reservoir stimulation, and EOR measures.

Based on well logging responses,sedimentary patterns and sandstone thickness,the distribution characteristics of meandering river sedimentary sand body of Neogene Minghuazhen Formation NmⅢ2 layer in the west of Shijiutuo Bulge,Chengning Uplift,Bohai Bay Basin were investigated.A new approach to calculate the occurrence of the sand-mudstone interfaces using resistivity log of horizontal well was advanced to solve the multiple solution problem of abandoned channel’s orientation.This method uses the trigonometric function relationship between radius,dip and length of the resistivity log to calculate the occurrence qualitatively-quantitatively to help determine the true direction of the abandoned channels.This method can supplement and improve the architecture dissection technique for meandering river sandbodies.This method was used to study the dip angle and scale of the lateral accretion layers in point bar quantitatively to help determine the spatial distribution of lateral accretion layers.The fine architecture model of underground meandering river reservoir in the study area has been established.Different from traditional grids,different grid densities for lateral accretion layers and bodies were used in this model by non-uniform upscaling to establish the inner architecture model of point-bars and realize industrial numerical simulation of the whole study area.The research results can help us predict the distribution of remaining oil,tap remaining oil,and optimize the waterflooding in oilfields.

Application of integrated formation evaluation and three-dimensional modeling in shale gas prospect identification

Identifying the shale gas prospect is crucial for gas extraction from such reservoirs.Junggar Basin(in Northwest China)is widely considered to have high potential as a shale gas resource,and the Jurassic,the most significant gas source strata,is considered as prospective for shale gas exploration and development.This study evaluated the Lower Jurassic Badaowan Formation shale gas potential combined with geochemical,geological,and well logging data,and built a three-dimensional(3D)model to exhibit favorable shale gas prospects.In addition,methane sorption capacity was tested for verifying the prospects.The Badaowan shale had an average total organic carbon(TOC)content of 1.30 wt.%and vitrinite reflectance(Ro)ranging from 0.47%to 0.81%with dominated type III organic matter(OM).X-ray diffraction(XRD)analyses showed that mineral composition of Badaowan shale was fairly homogeneous and dominated by clay and brittle minerals.67 wells were used to identify prospective shale intervals and to delineate the area of prospects.Consequently,three Badaowan shale gas prospects in the Junggar Basin were identified:the northwestern margin prospect,eastern Central Depression prospect and Wulungu Depression prospect.The middle interval of the northwestern margin prospect was considered to be the most favorable exploration target benefitted by wide distribution and high lateral continuity.Generally,methane sorption capacity of the Badaowan shale was comparable to that of the typical gas shales with similar TOC content,showing a feasible gas potential.
