Distribution and Hydrogeochemical Characteristic of High Iodine Groundwater in Oasis Zone in the Tarim Basin in xinjiang， P.R. China

Groundwater is the main water supply source in the Tarim Basin in China. Endemic disease caused by high iodine (I) groundwater in the Tarim Basin was reported previously. Therefore， it is crucial to systematically identify the distribution and genesis of groundwater I. Based on hydrochemical analysis of 717 groundwater samples collected in 2015-2018， spatial distribution and hydrogeochemistry characteristic of high I groundwater in different aquifers were analyzed. Results showed that groundwater I ranged between water (I > 100.00 μg/L) accounted for 7.25% of the total samples. Horizontally， groundwater I significantly increased from recharge zone (RZ) to transition zone (TZ) and to evaporation zone (EZ). Vertically， groundwater in shallow confined aquifer (SCA) had the greatest I concentration， followed by single-structure phreatic aquifer (SSPA)， phreatic aquifer in confined groundwater area (PACGA)， while groundwater in deep confined aquifer (DCA) generally had low I concentration. Groundwater I enrichment in SSPA was mainly affected by organic matter (OM) decomposition and that in SCA was mainly affected by evaporite mineral dissolution， OM decomposition under alkaline environment. While I enrichment in groundwater of PACGA was restrained under neutral environment. Lacustrine sedimentary environment was crucial for I enrichment in groundwater. Besides， fine-grained lithology of aquifer， smooth topographic slope， shallow buried depth of groundwater， weak alkaline and reducing environment， reductive dissolution of iron oxide/hydroxide minerals and OM decomposition were advantageous to I enrichment in groundwater.

Evaluation and attribution of trends in compound dry-hot events for major river basins in China

Concurrent compound dry and hot events(CDHEs)amplified more damange on the ecosystems and human society than individual *** climate change,compound dry and hot events become more frequent on a global *** paper proposes a mathematical method to quantitatively attribute changes of CDHEs to changes of precipitation,change in temperature and change in the dependence between precipitation and *** attribution is achieved by formulating the total differential equation of the return period of CDHEs among Meta-gaussian model.A case study of China is devised based on monthly precipitation and temperature data during the period from 1921 to 2020 for 80 major river *** is found that temperature is the main driving factor of increases in CDHEs for 49 major river basins in China,except for the upper and middle reaches of the Yangtze *** West China,precipitation changes drove the increase in CDHEs in 18 river basins(23%),particularly in parts of North xinjiang,Qinghai and *** the other hand,dependence between precipitation and temperature dominated changes of CDHEs in 13 river basins(16%)of China with other factors,including parts of South China,East China and Northwestern ***,changes in both the mean and spread of precipitation and temperature can also contribute to changes in CDHEs.

Storm surges are cataclysmic natural disasters that occur along the coasts and are usually accompanied by large *** effects of coupled storm surges and waves can pose a significant threat to coastal *** labo-ratory studies on the effects of storm surges and waves on coastal structures have typically utilized steady water levels and constant wave *** indoor simulation of the coupled processes of tides and waves is developed by adding a tide generation system to an existing laboratory wave basin to model continuous dynamic tide levels so that tide generation and wave-making occur synchronously in the *** experimental methods are given,which are applied to further study waves overtopping on artificial sea dikes and coastal flooding evolution under the coupled actions of tides and *** results of the overtopping discharge obtained by the test with a dynamic water level are compared with those obtained from steady water level tests and the existing empirical *** addition,the impacts of ecological coastal shelterbelts and structures on coastal flood processes and distributions are also *** proposed simulation methods provide a new approach for studying the effects of storm surges and waves on coastal *** study also aims to provide a reference for coastal protective engineering.

The Qinghai-Tibet Plateau is a climate-sensitive *** characteristics of drought and flood events in this region are significantly different as compared to other areas in the country,which could potentially induce a series of water security,ecological and environmental *** is urgent that innovative theories and methods for estimation of drought and flood disasters as well as their adaptive regulations are *** on extensive literature review,this paper identifies new situations of the evolution of drought and flood events on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau,and analyzes the research progress in terms of monitoring and simulation,forecasting and early warning,risk prevention and emergency *** study found that there were problems such as insufficient integration of multi-source data,low accuracy of forecasting and early warning,unclear driving mechanisms of drought and flood disaster chains,and lack of targeted risk prevention and regulation *** this basis,future research priorities are proposed,and the possible research and development paths are elaborated,including the evolution law of drought and flood on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau,the coincidence characteristics of drought and flood from the perspective of a water resources system,prediction and early warning of drought and flood coupled with numerical simulation and knowledge mining,identification of risk blocking points of drought and flood disaster chain and the adaptive ***,the paper will provide technical support for preventing flood and drought disasters,water resources protection,ecological restoration and climate change adaptation on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.
