The effect of variation in water supply on woody seedling growth in arid environments remain poorly *** subshrub Alhagi sparsifolia Shap.（Leguminosae）,distributed in the southern fringe of the Taklimakan Desert,xinjiang,northwestern China,has evolved deep roots and is exclusively dependent on groundwater,and performs a crucial role for the local ecological *** the Cele oasis,we studied the responses of *** seedling roots to water supplement at 10 and 14 weeks under three irrigation treatments （none water supply of 0 m3/m2 （NW）,middle water supply of 0.1 m3/m2 （MW）,and high water supply of 0.2 m3/m2 （HW））.The results showed that the variations of soil water content （SWC） significantly influenced the root growth of *** *** leaf area,basal diameter and crown diameter were significantly higher in the HW treatment than in the other *** biomass,root surface area （RSA）,root depth and relative growth rate （RGR） of *** roots were all significantly higher in the NW treatment than in the HW and MW treatments at 10 ***,these root parameters were significantly lower in the NW treatment than in the other treatments at 14 *** SWC continued to decline as the experiment went on （until less than 8％ gravimetric SWC）,the seedlings still showed drought tolerance through morphological and physiological responses,but root growth suffered serious water stress compared to better water supply *** to our study,keeping a minimum gravimetric SWC of 8％ might be important for the growth and establishment of *** during the early growth *** results will not only enrich our knowledge of the responses of woody seedlings to various water availabilities,but also provide a new insight to successfully establish and manage *** in arid environments,further supporting the sustainable development of oases.

Malus sieversii(wild apple tree),only distributed in the Tianshan Mountains in Central Asia,is a tertiary relic species and an ancestral species of cultivated ***,existing natural populations of wild apple trees have been *** date,spatiotemporal variations in the growth status of declining wild apple trees and influencing factors in the narrow valley areas in the Tianshan Mountains remain *** this study,field investigation and sampling were carried out in three years(2016-2018)at four elevations(1300,1400,1500,and 1600 m)in the Qiaolakesai Valley(a typical longitudinal narrow valley in the Yili River Valley)of the western Tianshan Mountains in Xinyuan County,xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region,*** coverage,dead branch percentage,and 18 twig traits(these 20 parameters were collectively referred to as plant traits)were determined to comprehensively reflect the growth status of declining wild apple *** values of dead branch percentage ranged from 36%to 59%,with a mean of 40%.Year generally showed higher impact on plant traits than *** 2017 and 2018,projective coverage,leaf size,leaf nitrogen concentration,and nitrogen to phosphorous ratio were markedly higher than those in ***,dead branch percentage and leaf and stem phosphorous concentrations showed the opposite *** of the topological parameters of plant trait networks differed in the three years,but the strength of trait-trait association increased year by *** mean difference between day and night temperatures(MDT),annual accumulative precipitation,soil electrical conductivity,and soil pH had the greatest impact on the plant trait *** growth status of declining wild apple trees was directly and positively affected by MDT and leaf *** conclusion,the growth of declining wild apple trees distributed in the narrow valley areas was more sensitive to interannual environmental changes than elevation *** results are of great significa

We fabricated pH and light dual-responsive adsorption materials which could induce the transition of surface wettability between hydrophobicity and hydrophilicity by using ATRPo The structure and morphology of adsorption materials were confirmed by ATR-FTIR, XPS, TGA and SEM. It showed that the modified cellulose （CE）- based foam was hydrophobic, which can adsorb a range of oils and organic solvents in water under pH = 7.0 or visible light irradiation （λ〉500 nm）. Meanwhile, the wettability of robust CE-based foam can convert hydrophobicity into hydrophilicity and underwater oleophobicity under pH = 3.0 or UV irradiation （λ = 365 nm）, giving rise to release oils and organic solvents. Most important of all, the adsorption and desorption processes of the modified CE-based foam could be switched by external stimuli. Furthermore, the modified CE-based foam was not damaged and still retained original performance after reversible cycle repeated for many times with variation of surface wettability. In short, it indicates that CE-based foam materials with switchable surface wettability are new responsive absorbent materials and have owned potential application in the treatment of oil recovery.

In order to study the hydrocarbon generation(HCGE)characteristics of coal-bearing basins,the coal-measure source rocks of the Middle Jurassic-Lower Jurassic(MLJ)of the piedmont thrust belt in the southern margin of the Junggar Basin in Northwest China are taken as research *** than 60 MLJ samples were collected from outcrops and *** organic carbon(TOC),rock pyrolysis(Rock-Eval),organic petrological,vitrinite reflectance(%Ro),and hydrous pyrolysis were performed to analyze the relevant *** pyrolysis gases and liquid products were measured,and then the chemical composition,as well as carbon isotopes of the gases,were *** results indicate that the MLJ source rocks have the capacity for large-scale gas *** addition,for coal-measure source rocks,the heavier the carbon isotope of kerogen(δ^(13)C_(kerogen)),the lower the liquid hydrocarbon and hydrocarbon gas yield,and the easier it is to produce non-hydrocarbon *** is worth noting that when theδ^(13)C_(kerogen)in organic matter(OM)is relatively heavier,the fractionation of its products may become weaker in the evolutionary *** vital contribution of the MLJ source rock to natural gas resources in the study area was further confirmed by comparing it with the Jurassic source gas.

Fischer-Tropsch(F-T)synthesis is an important route to achieve the clean fuel *** perfor-mance of gas-liquid separation equipment involving in the progressive condensation and separation of light and heavy hydrocarbons in the oil-gas products has become a bottleneck restricting the smooth operation of the F-T *** order to remove the bottleneck,a gas-liquid vortex separator with simple structure,low pressure drop and big separation capacity was designed to achieve the efficient separation between gas and droplets for a long *** RSM(Reynolds Stress Model)and DPM(Discrete Phase Method)are employed to simulate the flow characteristics and liquid distribution in the *** results show that the separation efficiency is influenced by the flow field and liquid phase concentration in the annular *** transverse vortex at the top of spiral arm entrains the droplets with small diam-eter into the upper annular *** entrained droplets rotate upward at an angle of about 37.4°.The screw pitch between neighbor liquid threads is about 0.3 *** is a top liquid ring in the top of annular zone,where the higher is the liquid phase concentration,the lower is the separation *** is found that by changing the operating condition and the annular zone height the vortex can be strengthened but not enlarged by the inlet *** screw pitch is not affected by both inlet velocity and annular zone *** liquid phase concentration in the top liquid ring decreases with both the increases of inlet velocity and annular zone *** total pressure drop is almost not affected by the annular zone height but is obviously affected by the inlet *** the height of annular zone is more than 940 mm,the separation efficiency is not ***,the annular zone height of 940 mm is thought to be the most economical design.

Background Cystic echinococcosis due to Echinococcus granulosus （E. granulosus） is one of the most important chronic helminthic diseases, especially in sheep/cattle-raising regions. The larval stage of the parasite forms a cyst that grows in the liver, lung, or other organs ofthe host. To ensure a long life in the host tissues, the parasite establishes complex inter-cellular communication systems between its host to allow its differentiation toward each larval stage. Recent studies have reported that this communication is associated with the extracellular signal-regulated kinase （ERK） mitogen-activated protein kinase cascade in helminth parasites, and in particular that these protein kinases might serve as effective targets for a novel chemotherapy for cystic echinococcosis. The aim of the present study investigated the biological function of a novel ERK ortholog from E. granulosus, EgERK. Methods DNA encoding EgERK was isolated from protoscolices of E. granulosus and analyzed using the LA Taq polymerase chain reaction （PCR） approach and bioinformatics. Reverse transcription PCR （RT-PCR） was used to determine the transcription level of the gene at two different larval tissues. Western blotting was used to detect levels of EgERK protein. The expression profile of EgERK in protoscolices was examined by immunofluorescence. Results We cloned the entire Egerk genomic locus from E. granulosus. In addition, two alternatively spliced transcripts of Egerk, Egerk-A, and Egerk-B were identified. Egerk-A was found to constitutively expressed at the transcriptional and protein levels in two different larval tissues （cyst membranes and protoscol（ces）. Egerk-A was expressed in the tegumental structures, hooklets, and suckers and in the tissue surrounding the rostellum of E. granulosus protoscolices. Conclusions We have cloned the genomic DNA of a novel ERK ortholog from E. granulosus, EgERK （GenBank ID HQ585923）, and found that it is constitutively expressed in cyst membrane and p
