Characteristics and Numerical Simulation of the Tropical Intraseasonal Oscillations under Global Warming

Using the ECMWF reanalysis daily 200-hPa wind data during the two 20-yr periods from 1958 to 1977 and from 1980 to 1999, the characteristics and changes of Intraseasonal Oscillations （ISO） in the two periods associated with global warming are analyzed and compared in this study. It is found that during the last 20 years, the ISO has weakened in the central equatorial Pacific Ocean, but becomes more active in the central Indian Ocean and the Bay of Bengal; under the background of the global warming, increase in the amplitude of ISO intensity suggests that the ISO has become more active than before, with an obvious seasonal cycle, i.e., strong during winter and spring, but weak during summer and autumn; the energy of the upper tropospheric zonal winds has more concentrated in wave numbers 1-3, and the frequency of ISO tended to increase. Comparison between the results of control experiment and CO2 increase （1% per year） experiment of FGOALS-1.0g （developed at LASG） with the first and second 20-yr observations, is also performed, respectively. The comparative results show that the spatial structure of the ISO was well reproduced, but the strength of ISO was underestimated. On the basis of space-time spectral analysis, it is found that the simulated ISO contains too much high frequency waves, leading to the underestiniation of ISO intensity due to the dispersion of ISO energy. However, FGOALS-1.0g captured the salient features of ISO under the global warming background by two contrast experiments, such as the vitality and frequency-increasing of ISO in the central Indian Ocean and the Bay of Bengal.

By using single rice cultivation as a control, the effect of rice-fish culture on growth dynamic, plant type and yield formation of rice was studied. The results showed as follows： rice-fish culture improved the physical-chemical properties of arable layer soil of paddy field, extended growth period of rice, increased dry matter and LAI of different growth stages, improved three top leaves area, deterred the degeneration of leaves function, increased the diameter of stem, promoted the growth of roots and the formation of roots in the extended stem. At the same time, rice-fish culture extended the length of basal internodes, increased the number of internodes, uplifted the gravity of plant, and depressed the root vigor. For the grain yield and yield structure office, rice-fish culture decreased ear/tillering ratio, spikelet/panicle and seed set percentage, increased grain weight. If variety choice and cultivation technology were controlled appropriately, rice-fish culture could increase the effective panicles and improve grain yield of rice.

Knowledge of soil respiration and the influencing factors in desert ecosystems is essential to understanding carbon dynamics and responses of biotic and abiotic processes in soils to climate change. In this study, soil respiration rate（R_s） for three land-cover types（shifting sandy land, sandy land with straw checkerboard barriers, and shelter forest land） in the hinterland of the Taklimakan Desert was measured in May 2015 using an automated soil CO_2 flux system. The effects of soil temperature（T_s） and soil water content（W_s） on R_s were also analyzed. The results showed that R_s values in shifting sandy land, sandy land with straw checkerboard barriers, and shelter forest land were all low and exhibited obvious diurnal fluctuations. The establishment of straw checkerboard barriers in sandy land had no significant effect on R_s, while the establishment of shelterbelts significantly increased R_s. Shifting sandy land and sandy land with straw checkerboard barriers were carbon sinks at night and early morning and were carbon sources in the daytime, while shelter forest land always acted as a carbon source during the whole day. The synergistic effect of T_s and W_s could better explain the diurnal dynamics in R_s than single factor. In shifting sandy land and sandy land with straw checkerboard barriers, W_s was identified as a limiting factor influencing the diurnal dynamics of R_s. Furthermore, a relatively strong hysteresis loop existed between R_s and T_s. In contrast, in shelter forest land, R_s was significantly influenced by T_s, and a relatively weaker hysteresis loop existed between R_s and W_s.

The global carbon balance is a core issue in climate change research and a focus of in ternational policy concern[1-3].The"missing carbon sink"caused by approximately 1.6-2.0 Pg Ca-1(1 Pg=1015 g)that is currently unaccounted for,has long plagued researchers[4,5].Evidence is mounting those seemingly lifeless desert ecosystems,whose roles in the global carbon-cycle have long been neglected,exhib让the unconventional phenomenon of absorption of atmospheric CO2,sequestering enonnous amounts of CO2 and thereby creating a significant carbon-sink[6-9].

Early Warning of Snow Disaster in Pasturing Areas of Inner Mongolia

Using ground and remote sensing monitoring, and national standards of snow disaster monitoring evaluation standards, quantitative evaluation of snow disaster was realized. Threshold of animal husbandry weather forecast indexes were applied to establish snow disaster early warning for different grasslands in pasturing areas of Inner Mongolia, and make the grade distribution map of snow disaster early warning. The forecast results basically met the real conditions, it proved that this forecast method was capable of evaluating scale and influence degree of snow disaster. However, the snow disaster grade forecast deviated from the real conditions for the influence of weather forecast accuracy rate.

This paper investigates the dynamic design methodology of mountain bikes with rear suspension. Firstly, a multi-rigid body dynamic model of rider and mountain bike coupled system is constructed. The rider model includes 19 skeletons, 18 joints and 118 main muscles. Secondly, to validate the feasibility of the model, an experiment test is designed to reflect the real cycling status. Finally, aiming at enhancing the performance of the rider vibration comfort, the scale parameters of rear suspension are optimized with computer simulation and uniform design. The mathematical model in the vibration performance and the design variables is constructed with regression analysis. The result shows that when the length of side link is 90 mm, the length of connected rod is 336.115 1 mm and the included angle between absorber and side link is 60°, the mountain bike has better vibration comfort. This study and relevant conclusions are of practical importance to the design of the mountain bike＇s rear suspension system.

This study investigated the occurrence of 19 aryl phosphates and mixed alkyl-aryl phosphates in dust samples(n=144)collected under the Canadian House Dust Study(CHDS).The predominant target analytes,detected in 100%of the samples,were isodecyl diphenyl phosphate(IDDPP),cresyl diphenyl phosphate(CDPP),and isopropylated triaryl phosphates(ITPs),with median concentrations of 1225(248-17850)ng/g,91(14-57700)ng/g,and 805(203-152000)ng/g,*** included isopropylphenyl diphenyl phosphate(IPPDPP),bis(isopropylphenyl)phenyl phosphate(BIPPPP),and tris(isopropylphenyl)phosphate(TIPPP).Strong correlations were found among IPPDPP,BIPPPP,and TIPPP,suggesting that there might be various consumer and building products containing mixtures of these *** A bis(diphenyl phosphate)(BPA-DP)and resorcinol bis(diphenyl phosphate)(RBDP)were detected in 69%and 78%of samples,with relatively low median concentrations of 30(max:818)ng/g and 14(max:307)ng/g,*** the usage of OPEs as flame retardants has increased over the past decade,the current levels of OPEs in Canadian house dust could be higher than those reported in this study,where the samples were collected in *** monitoring of OPEs in various environmental and biological matrices is recommended.

Study on the Influence of Climatic Change on Pasture Growth in Inner Mongolia Grassland

Through analyzing statistically metrological observation data from 1971 to 2010 and pasture data from 1983 to 2012 at 6 animal husbandry meteorological testing stations of Inner Mongolia grassland, the conclusions were drawn. Those were that annual average temperature rose in a straight line in Inner Mongolia grassland, and the increase rates of annual average temperature in meadow steppe and typical steppe were 0.40 and 0.34 ℃/10 a respectively. Annual rainfall had 10-year cyclical characteristics, and precipitation in the 1990s was the most but reduced significantly after 2000. Climate experienced the cold wet -cold dry -warm wet -warm dry periods. Warm and dry climate made the average heights of pasture in meadow steppe and typical steppe of Inner Mongolia cut down 2.4 and 9.3 cm in nearly 12 years than that in the 1990s; the average coverage of herbage decreased by 11% and 13%; the average hay yields reduced by 1 019.8 and 671.4 kg/hm^2.

DISTRIBUTION OF DINOFLAGELLATES IN THE EAST CHINA SEA

The material discussed in this report was collected at 23 stations in the north of the continental shelf of the East China Sea from October 4 to November 5, 1977 with a Juday phytoplankton net (diameter 37 cm, No. 20 gauze) which was towed from the bottom to the surface of the sea. The Results anlayzed show that the species composition and distributon of dinoflagellates in this region bear a close realtionship to the water mass and the sea currents. Based on the temperature ranges in which different species of dinoflagellates flourish, they may be divided into three groups: cold-water species, warm-temperate species and warm-water species. The number of the last group is more than 70% of the total.
