Effects of Biochar Application on Soil Organic Carbon in Degraded Saline-sodic Wetlands of Songnen Plain,Northeast China

Biochar amendment is considered as an efficient practice for improving carbon storage in ***,to what extent that biochar application promotes organic carbon in saline-sodic soils remains poorly *** comparing soil organic carbon(SOC)contents change before and after biochar addition,we deciphered the driving factors or processes that control SOC change in response to biochar application.A limited increase in SOC was observed,about by 1.16%-12.80%,even when biochar was applied at the rate of 10%of bulk soil *** application enhanced soil dissolved organic carbon(DOC)significantly by up to 67%.It was estimated that about 50%SOC was allocated to small macroaggregates(250-2000μm,CPOC),and SOC in silt and clay-sized particles(<53μm)decreased obviously after biochar *** biomass increased with biochar amendment,of which actinomycetes(ACT),fungus(FUN),protozoon(PRO),and bacteria with straight-chain saturated fatty acids(OB)increased *** linear regression models implied that DOC was governed by ACT and soil N∶P ratio,while SOC mostly depended on *** principal component analysis and the partial least square path model(PLS-PM)indicated that biochar addition aggravated nitrogen limitation in saline-sodic soils,and effects of microorganisms on regulating SOC greatly depended on nitrogen *** application had vastly changed interactions between environmental factors and SOC in saline-sodic *** of nutrients on SOC shifted to great inhibition from strong stimulation after biochar addition,meanwhile,aggregation was the only factor presenting positive effects on *** to eliminate nutrient limitation and better soil aggregation process should be considered in priority when biochar was used to improve SOC in saline-sodic soils.

First-principles hybrid functional study of the electronic structure and charge carrier mobility in perovskite CH_3NH_3SnI_3

We calculate the electronic properties and carrier mobility of perovskite CH3NH3SnI3as a solar cell absorber by using the hybrid functional method. The calculated result shows that the electron and hole mobilities have anisotropies with a large magnitude of 1.4 × 104cm2·V-1·s-1along the y direction. In view of the huge difference between hole and electron mobilities, the perovskite CH3NH3 Sn I3can be considered as a p-type semiconductor. We also discover a relationship between the effective mass anisotropy and electronic occupation anisotropy. The above results can provide reliable guidance for its experimental applications in electronics and optoelectronics.

Ellipsometric analysis and optical absorption characterization of gallium phosphide nanoparticulate thin film

Gallium phosphide （GAP） nanoparticulate thin films were easily fabricated by colloidal suspension deposition via GaP nanoparticles dispersed in N,N-dimethylformamide. The microstructure of the film was performed by x-ray diffraction, high resolution transmission electron microscopy and field emission scanning electron microscopy. The film was further investigated by spectroscopic ellipsometry. After the model GaP＋void[SiO2 was built and an effective medium approximation was adopted, the values of the refractive index n and the extinction coefficient k were calculated for the energy range of 0.75 eV-4.0 eV using the dispersion formula in DeltaPsi2 software. The absorption coefficient of the film was calculated from its k and its energy gaps were further estimated according to the Tauc equation, which were further verified by its fluorescence spectrum measurement. The structure and optical absorption properties of the nanoparticulate films are promising for their potential applications in hybrid solar cells.

Collective behaviors of suprachiasm nucleus neurons under different light–dark cycles

The principal circadian clock in the suprachiasm nucleus （SCN） regulates the circadian rhythm of physiological and behavioral activities of mammals. Except for the normal function of the circadian rhythm, the ensemble of SCN neurons may show two collective behaviors, i.e., a free running period in the absence of a light-dark cycle and an entrainment ability to an external T cycle. Experiments show that both the free running periods and the entrainment ranges may vary from one species to another and can be seriously influenced by the coupling among the SCN neurons. We here review the recent progress on how the heterogeneous couplings influence these two collective behaviors. We will show that in the case of homogeneous coupling, the free running period increases monotonically while the entrainment range decreases monotonically with the increase of the coupling strength. While in the case of heterogenous coupling, the dispersion of the coupling strength plays a crucial role. It has been found that the free running period decreases with the increase of the dispersion while the entrainment ability is enhanced by the dispersion. These findings provide new insights into the mechanism of the circadian clock in the SCN.

Copper-organic Framework Constructed from Rod-shaped Secondary Building Units with Selective Sorption Property

One novel metal-organic framework [Cu2（L）（μ3-OH）]n（1, H3L = [1,1＇：3＇,1＇＇-terphenyl]-4,4＇＇,5＇-tricarboxylic acid） has been synthesized and characterized by single-crystal powder X-ray diffraction, IR and thermogravimetric analyses. Complex 1 crystallizes in orthorhombic crystal system, space group Pbca with a = 21.573（19）, b = 5.404（5）, c = 33.78（3）？, C21H（12）O7Cu2, Mr = 503.39, V = 3938（6） A^3, Z = 8, Dc = 1.698 g·cm^-3, μ = 2.202 mm^-1, F（000） = 2016, 1.531〈θ〈25.009°, λ（Mo Kα） = 0.71073 A, T = 293（2） K, the final R = 0.0448 and wR = 0.1002. The structure of complex 1 is a three-dimensional（3D） framework based on infinite rod-shaped secondary building units and can be simplified as kgd topology. The gas adsorption measurements for N2, CO2, H2O, CH3OH and CH3CH2OH have been done. Fortunately, the selective sorption of CO2 over N2 was found at 195 K.

Properties of ground state and anomalous quantum fluctuations in one-dimensional polaron-soliton systems-the effects of electron-two-phonon interaction and non-adiabatic quantum correlations

Based on the Holstein model Hamiltonian of one-dimensional molecular crystals, by making use of the expansion approach of the correlated squeezed-coherent states of phonon instead of the two-phonon coherent state expansion scheme, the properties of the ground state and the anomalous quantum fluctuations are investigated in a strongly coupled electron-phonon system with special consideration of the electron-two-phonon interaction. The effective renormalization （ai） of the displacement of the squeezed phonons with the effect of the squeezed-coherent states of phonon and both the electron-displaced pbonon and the polaron-squeezed phonon correlations have been combined to obtain the anomalous quantum fluctuations for the corrections of the coherent state. Due to these non-adiabatic correlations, the effective displacement parameter ai is larger than the ordinary parameter ai （0） In comparison with the electron-one-phonon interaction （g） corrected as oig, we have found the electron-two-phonon interaction （gl） corrected as ai2gi is enhanced significantly. For this reason, the ground state energy （E（2）） contributed by the electron-two-phonon interaction is more negative than the single-phonon case （E01）） and the soliton solution is more stable. At the same time, the effects of the electron-two-phonon interaction greatly increase the polaron energy and the quantum fluctuations. Furthermore, in a deeper level, we have considered the effect of the polaron-squeezed phonon correlation （f-correlation）. Since this correlation parameter f 〉 1, this effect will strengthen the electron-one and two-phonon interactions by fai9 and f2ai2g1, respectively. The final results show that the ground state energy and the polaron energy will appear more negative further and the quantum fluctuations will gain further improvement.

One-pot synthesis of Ag-rich AgPd alloy nanoactiniae and their enhanced electrocatalytic activity toward oxygen reduction

The electro-catalytic properties can be effectively optimized by designing bimetallic alloy nanoparticles with high-content less-active metal to enhance the competence of more-active noble metal. Herein, a one-pot hydrothermal approach is demonstrated for the controllable synthesis of Ag-rich Ag_9Pd_1 alloy nanoactiniae with obviously enhanced electro-catalytic activity(2.23 mA cm^(-2) at 0.85 V) and stability for oxygen reduction reaction. In alkaline solution, the ORR onset potential and half-wave potential of the Ag_9Pd_1 alloy nanoactiniae can reach a value of 1.02 V and 0.89 V, respectively, which origin from strong ligand and ensemble effects between Pd element and Ag element. The nanocrystals are uniformly alloyed, displaying a Ag_9Pd_1 combination, as displayed by an assembly of X-ray diffraction(XRD) spectrum,energy dispersive X-ray(EDX) analysis, and cyclic voltammetry(CV). This concept of tuning bimetallic alloy nanocrystals with low concentrations of more precious metal may be a promising approach to be applicable to a wide range of alloy nanocrystals.

Synthesis and Crystal Structure of a New Three-dimensional Thiocyanate Supramolecular Compound [Cd(phen)(NCS)(SCN)]_n

The compound [Cd（phen）（NCS）（SCN）]n（phen = 1,10-phenanthroline） was synthe- sized under hydrothermal conditions and characterized by IR and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The complex is of monoclinic, space group C2/c with a = 14.607（3）, b = 10.505（2）, c = 10.631（2）A,β = 115.14（3）^o, V = 1476.8（5）A^3, C14H8CdN4S2, Mr = 408.76, Z = 4, F（000） = 800, μ = 1.757 mm^-1 and Dc = 1.839 g/cm^3. The final R = 0.0409 and wR = 0.0811 for 1367 observed reflections （I 〉 2σ（I））. In the title compound, each cadmium atom is six-coordinated and connected with two adjacent metal ions by two NCS bridges, creating a zigzag chain. The neighboring chains are linked to each other by the weak van der Waals＇ S…S interactions and π…π interactions to form a new three-dimensional supramolecular framework.
