Ammonium level in body fluids serves as one of the critical biomarkers for healthcare,especially those relative to liver *** continuous and real-time monitoring in both invasive and noninvasive manners is highly desired,while the ammonium concentrations vary largely in different body ***,the sensing reliability based on ion-selective biosensors can be significantly interfered by potassium *** tackle these challenges,a flexible and biocompatible sensing patch for wireless ammonium level sensing was reported with an ultrawide linear range for universal body fluids including blood,tears,saliva,sweat and *** as-prepared biocompatible sensors deliver a reliable sensitivity of 58.7 mV decade-1 in the range of 1-100 mM and a desirable selectivity coefficient of 0.11 in the interference of potassium ions,attributed to the cross-calibration within the sensors *** sensor’s biocompatibility was validated by the cell growth on the sensor surface(>80%),hemolysis rates(sponses and weight changes of the mice with implanted *** biocompatible sensors with ultrawide linear range and desirable selectivity open up new possibility of highly compatible biomarker analysis via different body fluids in versatile approaches.

Thermoelectric Modulation of Neat Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x) MXenes by Finely Regulating the stacking of Nanosheets

Emerging two-dimensional MXenes have been extensively studied in a wide range of fields thanks to their superior electrical and hydrophilic attributes as well as excellent chemical stability and mechanical *** them,the ultrahigh electrical conductivity(σ)and tunable band structures of benchmark Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x) MXene demonstrate its good potential as thermoelectric(TE)***,both the large variation ofσreported in the literature and the intrinsically low seebeck coefficient(s)hinder the practical ***,this study has for the first time systematically investigated the TE properties of neat Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x) films,which are finely modulated by exploiting different dispersing solvents,controlling nanosheet sizes and constructing ***,deionized water is found to be superior for obtaining closely packed MXene sheets relative to other polar ***,a simultaneous increase in both s andσis realized via elevating centrifugal speed on MXene aqueous suspensions to obtain small-sized nanosheets,thus yielding an ultrahigh power factor up to~156μW m^(-1) K^(-2).Third,s is significantly enhanced yet accompanied by a reduction inσwhen constructing MXene-based nanocomposites,the latter of which is originated from the damage to the intimate stackings of MXene ***,a correlation between the TE properties of neat Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x) films and the stacking of nanosheets is elucidated,which would stimulate further exploration of MXene TEs.

Reconstruction characteristics of gut microbiota from patients with type 1 diabetes affect the phenotypic reproducibility of glucose metabolism in mice

The human microbiota-associated(HMA)mice model,especially the germ-free(GF)-humanized mice,has been widely used to probe the causal relationships between gut microbiota and human diseases such as type 1 diabetes(T1D).However,most studies have not clarified the extent to which the reconstruction of the human donor microbiota in recipient mice correlates with corresponding phenotypic *** this study,we transplanted fecal microbiota from five patients with T1D and four healthy people into GF mice,and microbiota from each donor were transplanted into 10 *** with similar microbiota structure to the donor exhibited better phenotypic *** characteristics of the microbial community assembly of donors also influenced the phenotypic reproducibility in mice,and individuals with a higher proportion of stochastic processes showed more severe *** enriched in patients with T1D had a stronger colonization potential in mice with impaired glucose metabolism,and microbiota functional features related to T1D were better reproduced in these *** indicates that assembly traits and colonization efficacy of microbiota influence phenotypic reproducibility in GF-humanized *** findings provide important insights for using HMA mice models to explore links between gut microbiota and human diseases.

surface modification of fabrics using dielectric barrier discharge plasma for improved antifouling performance

Predicting colorectal adenomatous polyps in patients with chronic liver disease: A novel nomogram

BACKGROUND Colorectal polyps are commonly observed in patients with chronic liver disease(CLD)and pose a significant clinical concern because of their potential for *** To explore the clinical characteristics of colorectal polyps in patients with CLD,a nomogram was established to predict the presence of adenomatous polyps(AP).METHODs Patients with CLD who underwent colonoscopy at Tianjin second people’s hospital from January 2020 to May 2023 were *** data including laboratory results,colonoscopy findings,and pathology reports were *** variables for the nomogram were identified through least absolute shrinkage and selection operator regression,followed by multivariate logistic *** performance of the model was evaluated using the area under the receiver area under curve,as well as calibration curves and decision curve *** The study enrolled 870 participants who underwent colonoscopy,and the detection rate of AP in patients with CLD was 28.6%.Compared to individuals without polyps,six risk factors were identified as predictors for AP occurrence:Age,male sex,body mass index,alcohol consumption,overlapping metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease,and serum ferritin *** novel nomogram(AP model)demonstrated an area under curve of 0.801(95%confidence interval:0.756-0.845)and 0.785(95%confidence interval:0.712-0.858)in the training and validation *** curves indicated good agreement among predicted and actual probabilities(training:χ^(2)=11.860,P=0.157;validation:χ^(2)=7.055,P=0.530).The decision curve analysis underscored the clinical utility of the nomogram for predicting the risk of *** The AP model showed reasonable accuracy and provided a clinical foundation for predicting the occurrence of AP in patients with CLD,which has a certain predictive value.
