An Early Stopping-Based Artificial Neural Network Model for Atmospheric Corrosion Prediction of Carbon Steel

The optimization of network topologies to retain the generalization ability by deciding when to stop overtraining an artificial neural network(ANN)is an existing vital challenge in ANN prediction *** larger the dataset the ANN is trained with,the better generalization the prediction can *** this paper,a large dataset of atmospheric corrosion data of carbon steel compiled from several resources is used to train and test a multilayer backpropagation ANN model as well as two conventional corrosion prediction models(linear and Klinesmith models).Unlike previous related works,a grid search-based hyperparameter tuning is performed to develop multiple hyperparameter combinations(network topologies)to train multiple ANNs with mini-batch stochastic gradient descent optimization algorithm to facilitate the training of a large *** that,one selection strategy for the optimal hyperparameter combination is applied by an early stopping method to guarantee the generalization ability of the optimal network *** correlation coefficients(R)of the ANN model can explain about 80%(more than 75%)of the variance of atmospheric corrosion of carbon steel,and the root mean square errors(RMSE)of three models show that the ANN model gives a better performance than the other two models with acceptable *** influence of input parameters on the output is highlighted by using the fuzzy curve analysis *** result reveals that TOW,Cl-and SO2 are the most important atmospheric chemical variables,which have a well-known nonlinear relationship with atmospheric corrosion.

Synthesizing service Composition Models on the Basis of Temporal Business Rules

Transformational approaches to generating design and implementation models from requirements can bring effectiveness and quality to software development. In this paper we present a framework and associated techniques to generate the process model of a service composition from a set of temporal business rules. Dedicated techniques including path- finding, branching structure identification and parallel structure identification are used for semi-automatically synthesizing the process model from the semantics-equivalent Finite State Automata of the rules. These process models naturally satisfy the prescribed behavioral constraints of the rules. With the domain knowledge encoded in the temporal business rules, an executable service composition program, e.g., a BPEL program, can be further generated from the process models. A running example in the e-business domain is used for illustrating our approach throughout this paper.

Transparent Computing: Development and Current Status

Current terminal devices, such as Personal computers(PCs), diskless workstation, mobile terminals and embedded Internet of things(IoT) devices, are facing several challenges, including limited computing capabilities and storage resources, complex maintenance and management of the software and data, as well as secure service provisioning. Facing these challenges, Cloud computing(CC) and Edge computing(EC) encourage the terminal devices to shift compute-intensive works to the cloud servers or edge nodes. Different from CC and EC, Transparent computing(TC) is a novel user-centric computing paradigm in which the hardware and software are separated in different places. Specificaly, all the software, including Operating systems(OSes), applications programs and management tools, are deposited on the servers and transmitted on demand to terminal devices in a transparent way, while the computation is performed on terminals. In this article, we give a broad survey on transparent computing about the development and current status and compare the differences with CC and EC. To realize the provisioning of the cross-platform service, TC shields hardware differences of heterogeneous devices and builds standardized hardware and software interfaces. From the perspective of security, TC entails high-level security mechanisms and the Meta OS can detect malware and OS-level attacks. Specifically, we first review the development courses of network computing paradigms and the motivation of TC. Then, we present a comparison of several emerging computing paradigms and TC from three perspectives, i.e., virtualization, location for computing, and location for storage. We also show the basic architecture of TC, development process, current status, and key enabling technologies of TC for PCs and lightweight terminals. Lastly, several new challenges and future research directions are indicated to inspire continuous investigations. We believe that this survey can help readers to obtain complete

A hybrid discrete particle swarm optimization-genetic algorithm for multi-task scheduling problem in service oriented manufacturing systems

To cope with the task scheduling problem under multi-task and transportation consideration in large-scale service oriented manufacturing systems(SOMS), a service allocation optimization mathematical model was established, and then a hybrid discrete particle swarm optimization-genetic algorithm(HDPSOGA) was proposed. In SOMS, each resource involved in the whole life cycle of a product, whether it is provided by a piece of software or a hardware device, is encapsulated into a service. So, the transportation during production of a task should be taken into account because the hard-services selected are possibly provided by various providers in different areas. In the service allocation optimization mathematical model, multi-task and transportation were considered simultaneously. In the proposed HDPSOGA algorithm, integer coding method was applied to establish the mapping between the particle location matrix and the service allocation scheme. The position updating process was performed according to the cognition part, the social part, and the previous velocity and position while introducing the crossover and mutation idea of genetic algorithm to fit the discrete space. Finally, related simulation experiments were carried out to compare with other two previous algorithms. The results indicate the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed hybrid algorithm.

Community question answering(CQA)has provided an increasingly popular service where users ask and answer questions and access historical questionanswer *** a fundamental task in CQA,question similarity measure is to compute the similarity between the queried question and the historical questions which have been solved by other *** mine and use the most important semantic features as the semantic representation of questions,and try to incorporate the couplings of semantic features into vector space *** propose Coupled question similarity(CQS) model,and compute the similarity in matrix factorization *** conducted on real CQA data sets demonstrate that with the incorporation of such couplings,the performance of sentence similarity is improved compared to a variety of baseline methods significantly.

Virtual Strategy QoS routing in satellite networks

Satellite network users want to unify different satellites to enhance the quality-of-service(Qo S)stability of the satellite networks and select feasible paths through different networks to feed different applications. Unfortunately, the state of affairs is that different applications need to use several different application programming interfaces and to design different protocols on how and when to use a specific network. This is troublesome and error-prone as the application programming interfaces vary a lot. In this paper, we design a Virtual Strategy in satellite network based on which a Qo S routing service scheme is then proposed. We analyze why applications should use and benefit from Virtual Strategy. This Virtual Strategy is a middleware solution that enables seamless usage of services from different satellite network parts. And then, the supporting Qo S routing solution enables the committed Qo S services over Virtual Strategy. Finally, we provide a comparison between the previous satellite networks and our work. The simulation results show that our Virtual Strategy Qo S routing scheme demonstrates dominated performances under complex architecture.

Joint Optimization of Admission Control and Rate Adaptation for Video Sharing over Multirate Wireless Community Cloud

Emerging wireless community cloud enables usergenerated video content to be shared and consumed in a social context. However, the nature of shared wireless medium and timevarying channels seriously limits the quality of service(QoS), partially owing to the lack of mechanisms for effectively utilizing multi-rate channel resources. In this paper, the joint optimization of admission control and rate adaptation is proposed, resulting in a bandwidth-aware rate-adaptive admission control(BRAC) scheme to provide bandwidth guarantee for sharing social multimedia contents. The analytical approach leads to the following major contributions:(1) a bandwidth-aware rate selection(BRS) algorithm to optimally meet the bandwidth requirement of the data session and channel conditions at the physical layer;(2) a routing-coupled rate adaption and admission control algorithm to admit data sessions with bandwidth guarantee. Moreover, extensive numerical simulations suggest that BRAC is efficient and effective in meeting the bandwidth requirements for sharing social multimedia contents. These insights will shed light on communication system implementation for multimedia content sharing over multirate wireless community cloud.

Virtualized Platform for Multicast services in Software Defined Networks

With the growing trend of deploying Software defined networks(SDN) in Internet and data centers,it is necessary to investigate the operation of multicast services in this paradigm shift. We propose an Open Flowbased virtualized platform to support multiple multicast services simultaneously, each with their own customized multicast algorithms and performance-enhancing strategies for its service requirements. The contributions include:1) systematic discussions of the technical challenges regarding to implementing multicast services in SDN, with the proposed architectural components addressing these issues; 2) a virtualized platform enabling user-defined multicast services, independent of current Internet-based protocols; 3) experiments validating the necessity and efficiency of the platform in supporting its design goals and functionalities, with two additional real multicast applications further confirming the feasibility and operability of the proposed prototype.

Joint study on VMs deployment, assignment and migration in geographically distributed data centers

Enterprises build private clouds to provide IT re- sources for geographically distributed subsidiaries or prod- uct divisions. Public cloud providers like Amazon lease their platforms to enterprise users, thus, enterprises can also rent a number of virtual machines （VMs） from their data centers in the service provider networks. Unfortunately, the network cannot always guarantee stable connectivity for their clients to access the VMs or low-latency transfer among data centers. Usually, both latency and bandwidth are in unstable network environment. Being affected by background traffics, the net- work status can be volatile. To reduce the latency uncertainty of client accesses, enterprises should consider the network status when they deploy data centers or rent virtual data cen- ters from cloud providers. In this paper, we first develop a data center deployment and assignment scheme for an enter- prise to meet its users＇ requirements under uncertain network status. To accommodate to the changes of the network status and users＇ demands, a VMs migration-based redeployment scheme is adopted. These two schemes work in a joint way, and lay out a framework to help enterprises make better use of private or public clouds.
